A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I haven’t heard much in the media since the budget about the additional tax on landlords — another spiteful and counter-productive measure that will drive even more decent landlords out of the market and drive up rents. Not a problem of course for those whose rent is paid for by taxpayers…

Analysis by tax advisory firm Ryan suggested the average small shop will see its business rates bill increase by 42%, restaurants will face a 45% jump and bills for pubs will be 66% higher.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgj85x380do

This all stems back to the work from home mantra escalated by COVID. Companies and councils have been handing back or selling their office buildings. Our head office in Paddington is now a block of apartments. All the commercial rates lost to Westminster they're clawing back by making commercial rates unviable. It's the law of diminishing returns.

My council my friend works for has sold off two huge office premises. Now everyone has to pre book and hot desk one day a week in a new building. The car park is much too small. You have to either arrive stupidly early or park miles away because of all the double yellow lines around town.

Yes, the increase will simply be conveyed to the tenants - in an environment of already constrained supply.

I am not a fan of the diminutive leftie, but this is amusing.

Ian Hislop set off gasps and howls of laughter on the BBC's Have I Got News For You after taking aim at Rachel Reeves with a stinging three-word jibe. As the panel watched footage of the Chancellor standing outside Downing Street holding the red Budget Box ahead of announcing her latest statement, Hislop delivered the cutting line: “Oh, it’s the fiscal drag queen,”

Ouch! If IH is trolling her then you know it's bad for Labour.

So basically the only people who are saying it's good are the cultists on here? It's unanimous outside of MN that the budget is shit........and that Reeves lied/mislead the public

Catatemyhomework · 29/11/2025 11:43

Not getting very far with my cleaning. I've had 2 cups of tea, a coffee and sitting on my bed again. Was going to clean the bathroom but we're out of bathroom cleaner so need to go out now.

Catatemyhomework · 29/11/2025 11:45

Yes going by MN you'd think everyone is left wing. They're not though. I have a few left wing friends but an equal number of right wing friends. I'd say my family is predominantly right wing. My 14 year old son is into the Greens but I think thats just his age!

EasternStandard · 29/11/2025 11:46

GroundZero · 29/11/2025 11:05

I confess that I am looking forward to the day that Reeves and/or Starmer is forced from office, just to see how they attempt to polish that particular stool.

It will be amusing, that’s for sure.

My sympathy otherwise goes out to any household pet bearing the brunt, on that day.

Yep and agree with @twistyizzyon the vileness

No wonder their support is tanking every week. People can’t stand it.

justasking111 · 29/11/2025 11:48

Our son is pretty green. It's part of his job. But he's ranting about the labour party according to his partner which is amusing.

You could also hit the "Watch" link at the bottom of the page so that it comes up on Notifications.

Thanks, didn't know about that! It's been a long time since I was on MN!

So true.
That's exactly how I feel, along with many others I suspect.

I'm not doing very well either Cat. Still in my PJs 😁.
Sod going out just for bathroom cleaner. Washing up liquid will do the trick. White vinegar too if you have any.

They are vile

Hypocrisy writ large.

TheNuthatch · 29/11/2025 12:01

Some of you may remember that I bought a robot vac in the summer. I named him Keir as he is robotic and sucks the life out of everything.

Well Keir has died. He needs to be returned and exchanged for a new model today. Perhaps its a sign? 😂
If only we could return the PM as not fit for purpose.

For those able to bear listening to her, Reeves is being interviewed by Kuenssberg tomorrow morning.

The cultists are only one letter away from how I see them…

Haha, could ‘Kier’ be repurposed as a traffic control measure?

Do you fancy taking one for the team? I can't afford a new telly, and it might get damaged if I watch it.

One of our neighbours has a robot cleaner; of their cats routinely rides round the house on it.😳
