A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The media - almost exclusively - have absolutely pilloried Reeves’s abomination of a budget.

The writing is on the wall for her, and Starmer, surely?

Any chance they can be Frank Bough before the May locals…

EasternStandard · 29/11/2025 09:10

Between 10k to 30k, a 1/3 of hospitality business at risk of closure via hospitality U.K. Kate Nichols

That’s huge numbers. What are Labour supporters thinking? How can they keep backing them.

Advisers to the rich have rejected a Budget measure to limit the tax payable by former non-doms as “too little, too late”.

In her Budget this week, chancellor Rachel Reeves included a measure to cap an unlimited inheritance tax (IHT) charge she introduced last year. It was one reason cited by wealthy people for leaving the UK.

The move was “an attempt to lure back former non-doms who have left the UK over concern about the inheritance tax”, said Robert Brodrick, partner at law firm Payne Hicks Beach, adding: “Unfortunately, this is probably too little, too late.”

Another Labour own goal.

It is genuinely astonishing that Rachel Reeves isn’t accompanied by the Benny Hill theme at all times. Her ability to harvest the fruit of incompetence is without compare. She is the Nellie Melba of cock-ups, an anti-Midas in a pantsuit and a Lego hairpiece. Really, those of us who take joy from seeing a disaster artist hone their craft ought to have thrown bouquets at her from the gallery.

I'm doing the same. Cleaning the house ready for the tree next weekend. Need to do the bathroom too as it's minging. Tonight we're going to sit down as family and watch Stranger Things new season. I'm excited!

We watched episode 2 of new ST last night, will watch the other 2 tonight with DD then from Monday our 1 Xmas movie each night starts 😀

Blimey just read more. What’s wrong with them. Nasty lot aren’t they.

I think her achievements make them feel bad.

I'm avoiding it because it will raise my blood pressure!

TheNuthatch · 29/11/2025 10:08

Good morning 😁

Happy weekend. Cleaning and jobs here too. Although not feeling very festive yet, so will decorate next weekend. DH is at home this weekend - his first weekend off for a very long time.

That Kemi thread is ridiculous. She has them rattled it seems. Good.

@EasternStandard Yeh, nothing good for hospitality rn. There was a thread a few days ago about the massive increase in business rates. The op got attacked, as per. 🙄 I'm glad the media have picked it up.

Yeh, just looked at today's front pages - oof.

You would think that Starmer and Reeves have reached the end of the line, but if Labour MPs are anything like their supporters on here, who knows. 🤷‍♂️
One minute they say that they don't support Labour anymore, the next minute they're out defending them.

Morning all, we’re away for the weekend so I missed much of yesterday’s posting and probably won’t keep up with today/tomorrow! Nothing too exciting - we’re in Liverpool for a DC competition but hoping we might get to swing by the Christmas Market before we come home. Took us almost 5 hours to get here yesterday!

Happy weekend of cleaning/tree buying to you all - that’s my plan for next weekend!

👋 from up the road!

I saw the Christmas market on Thursday, but didn't visit, as I was on my way to catch a train. I do feel like they're much of a muchness around the country though! (I'm not a Christmas market fan. Xmas Grin )

I'm doing Christmas baking today: sausage rolls, mince pies and a chocolate cherry pudding. I'm still vaguely suffering from yesterday's hangover (client meeting / night out in London), which I'm hoping pisses off soon. 😩

redange · 29/11/2025 10:26

I think many of these supporters have tattoos of Labour to I Die printed on their faces. It certainly feels like it, the way they defend the in-defensible . Over the years I was a Conservative Party Member, when i was told how bad they were, I always agreed and never sought to mimic the 'Cult' like behavior of the left.

Analysis by tax advisory firm Ryan suggested the average small shop will see its business rates bill increase by 42%, restaurants will face a 45% jump and bills for pubs will be 66% higher.

'Business rates changes will cost me £62,000'

Pub bosses have warned they face a sharp rise in business rates bills despite government support.

I'm so envious of those prepping and cleaning their homes for Christmas; we're still in a state of flux from our water leak.

DH has decided this is a good time to declutter, which is fine - but whereas I would take stuff to the charity shop or tip, he's been scanning the wanted ads on Freecycle - which why, at 6.30 this morning, bleary-eyed after a night at the coalface, I tripped over a couple of pairs of antlers placed just inside the front door ready to be collected today. Antlers! Who on earth has antlers lurking their loft?! Us, it seems - relics from DH's university days.🙄

Getting back on subject, I didn't know until this morning one of the benefits afforded to asylum seekers is a taxi to take them to and from GP appointments.

Sorry, shouldn't laugh but 🤣🤣🤣 at the antlers. I bet the air was blue. 😂
I was thinking of you and your dh lastnight. We had lamb for tea, that I paid for with cash :-)

Yes we pay a fortune to ferry the Calais Lads around, to visit GPs that we can't access. They couldn't possible catch a bus, or travel on their deliveroo bike.

Yep, they hate SMEs, but apparently its all worth it so that Labour can have a little go at cos playing being in government. Shameful.

Surely they’ll have to cough up. Labour that is. They’re finding it worse than Covid times.

Labour can’t just let them close, it’s crazy.

I confess that I am looking forward to the day that Reeves and/or Starmer is forced from office, just to see how they attempt to polish that particular stool.

It will be amusing, that’s for sure.

My sympathy otherwise goes out to any household pet bearing the brunt, on that day.
