A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Flint (who I have thought measured before) is resorting to being strident. Being agressive, Talking over everyone else and interrupting and a regular resort to screeching.

I know. She’s usually sensible.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 28/11/2025 07:02

I was quite surprised tbh. She usually gives great thought to what she says.

Anyone it will be on plus 1 if anyone is interested.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 28/11/2025 07:04

And I really wish when she was banging on about 14 years of the Conservatives that Rob Rinder did not say 'But that means Labour had 14 years (15 now) to come up with a coherent policy'.

I posted on another thread last night in chat. Apparently it's fine for people on benefits to take home an equivalent income to 100k salary if they have huge rent and live somewhere expensive. Meanwhile, if you actually earn your 100k salary you should be grateful. Just about sums it up. There is no justification as I always say.

Yep sounds about right
Work for your 100k = we will tax you and vilify you for daring to earn that much
Get an equivalent take home via benefits and you get all the free stuff.

Its batshit. Why would anyone bother?

The problem is, people being given this money have no idea how much they'd need to earn to have it. They look at people on 100k and think rich fucker, while happily trousering the same, with a guaranteed inflationary rise every year and none of the stress of actually earning it. Genuinely, how will this end? It's not going to be pretty but sadly genuinely sick people will lose out.

I've seen some posters on MN saying you don't need skill or intelligence to earn 100K. It's just luck 🙄
That's the issue, if they are sat at home getting an equivalent take home by doing nothing then I'm sure it doesn't look like you hsve to be skilled etc.

Same as migration thread. Seemingly it's fine for highly paid + skilled workers to emigrate because the immigrants coming to UK can just replace them 🫣🫣

Yep. It's batshit. The same old posters get wheeled out to defend the indefensible, at best they tell us we're lucky enough to be able to earn that much money. At worst we get accused of being bots. I mean WTF does that even mean? Why is someone who is not a socialist a bot? I think I need a break from news and SM. It's not doing me any good.

Catatemyhomework · 28/11/2025 08:32

I can't wait until this all unravels to be honest. We need the tax and benefits system to make sense.

Catatemyhomework · 28/11/2025 08:33

Do you think any politicians read our threads?

What will unraveling look like? We all assume that it will mean seeing that this economic lurch towards tax and spend is a mistake.

But there are 15% of the voters who would vote green. The lesson they are getting is to double down!

Boohoo76 · 28/11/2025 08:39

I have argued on multiple occasions on other threads that a single parent on £100k can end up with less than a pensioner on the basic state pension to pay their food and bills (once their rent/mortgage, childcare and commuting to work costs have been deducted). Always met with abuse. But now it transpires that there are people who end up with more on UC than the workers I am referring to and those on UC get child benefit on top!

The people who say bots don’t actually understand what a bot it. I cringe every time I read it. It’s like your nan trying to speak in text speak. Sorry!

Edited

They will run out of money. They have run out of money. This time next year they'll be back for more. What else can they take? Spending will have to be cut. The IMF will enforce it. A situation where a smaller number of people are supporting the majority isn't sustainable. I don't know what the end will look like, but we need to get there to restore some sanity and common sense.

It’s usually Labour posters using it on threads where anyone is not Labour. Mn has been skewed for a while and they find it hard to see other views. Pre GE was ridiculous.

Anyone saying what we’re seeing now was likely was hounded, still is by some of the same, and just nonsense. So here we are, Labour sweating daily.

I mean 45%, that’s strong two party type results there even in the fragmentation of votes.
