Farage’s racism

I haven’t yet seen a post about this story: Twenty people allege he has a racist past. He denies it. Who’s telling the truth about Farage’s schooldays? | Nigel Farage | The Guardian

Farage no longer categorically denies these incidents, and is now trying to fudge things by saying he didn’t mean any harm and it was a long time ago - presumably because he knows it is true and realises that 20 separate people saying it means only the truly deluded wouldn’t believe he was a racist.

But what I am interested in is does this actually assist his election chances? We already know that many of his supporters are racists - does it actually work for him that this blatant racism from him shores up their support? Are they secretly (or perhaps not so secretly in some cases) pleased?

And what do those of you who are Reform supporters but believe yourself not be racist think? Does it make you change your mind about him or Reform?

Twenty people allege he has a racist past. He denies it. Who’s telling the truth about Farage’s schooldays?

Reform UK’s leader refuses to answer questions about his abusive behaviour, claiming there’s ‘no evidence’. We talk to victims and witnesses

I thought we were talking about Yusuf.

Are there any similar articles about Yusuf's rudeness on the show?

I don’t know. Why is that relevant? My opinion won’t change.

You are ok with both?

You first - were you ok with Corbyn?

Corbyn's communications director's Russian links? No

Back to the thread subject, are you ok with Farage's Russian links and his racism?

I would hope that the security services and Shabana Mahmood have checked out Farage's Russian links?

Regarding Farage's racism - I'm not overly concerned what he may have said 40/50 years ago. Are we going to hear sordid tales about Angela Rayner and what she was up to aged 15/16 in the Labour leadership contest?

I don't disbelieve Peter Ettedgui's story (Farage was 13 at the time) and I think Farage should probably apologise. But I have to question Ettedgui's repeated claim that none of the group of 20/28 had spoken to each other before speaking to the Guardian - there must be current friendship groups or contacts. Peter Ettedgui can't possibly speak for the others, does he even know who they all are - more than half were unnamed. At least three accusers have identifiable political motives.

Also, I have to admit that I am a bit sceptical that the victim who was aged 9 at the time recognised Farage from his walk. Also, one guy claimed Farage had no friends, another said he always walked around with 'his minions'.

It's somewhat revealing that me, Blossomtoes and TooBigForMyBoots all have different recollections of who said what on QT last week - when the topic of this thread is who said what nearly 50 years ago.

🔴Nigel Farage’s Russian Influence Advent Calendar

Byline Times has compiled a festive offering of the prize moments when the Reform leader has gifted the political agenda to Vladimir Putin and Russia

https://bylinetimes.com/2025/12/10/nigel-farages-russian-influence-advent-calendar/

Farage has been in Putin's pocket for over a decade. He's a fucking traitor!Angry

Hazlenuts2016 · 11/12/2025 06:29

@Clavinovathe allegations of racially motivation bullying date from when Farage was around 13/14 right up until he was 18.

People don't forget bullying and abuse & Farage carried on with this behaviour well into his late teens.

Funny how you question the victims recount of Farage but not that of the abuser.

I do understand people do things as children they later regret but this wasn't a one off incident, Farage hasn't acknowledged his actions, let alone apologised.

Making fun of gassing jews is not on the same page as Rayner having sex as a teenager - quite remarkable you try and conflate the two.

How did Farage obtain 880k to buy a house in cash for his partner and whats the arrangement should he and his girlfriend split up? if any, who can afford to lose that amount.

PandoraSocks · 11/12/2025 08:05

Hazlenuts2016 · 11/12/2025 06:29

@Clavinovathe allegations of racially motivation bullying date from when Farage was around 13/14 right up until he was 18.

Exactly. He was old enough to know better.

I am slightly older than Farage. Yes there were some kids who made racist remarks, but it was very, very far from something that everyone did. And I never once heard a single pupil make fun of the Holocaust, let alone taunt other pupils about it. Not once. I think school would have come down on that very harshly.

As for Farage's nonsense about TV programmes, well he was still racially bullying people long after most of those TV programmes had ended. And Alf Garnett was satire. But some people were sadly too stupid to realise that, including Farage it seems.

BIossomtoes · 11/12/2025 08:11

Come on @Clavinova. You can’t possibly compare recollection of a TV programme with the testimony of someone who was a victim of bullying - I was bullied at school 60 years ago and, while I don’t remember every detail, I’ll never forget the main perpetrator’s name and I can see his face now. That trauma never leaves you.

PandoraSocks · 11/12/2025 08:20

This is desperate, it really is. It has nothing to do with the discussion about Farage.

Rayner had a rough start in life and got pregnant as a teenager. None of that is "sordid". But of course women always get judged more harshly than men.

Your reluctance to give a straight answer says it all.

As if having sex and getting pregnant at 16 is in any was comparable to years of perpetuating racist Nazi worshipping bullying! @Clavinova, you are a card... And it's a joker.

Those on the far right will defend absolutely anything & will always seek to justify and divert.
Farage is far right & it now looks as if he has his acolytes on here too.

I despise Reform and am okay with the Greens. Sadly I remember Zack Polanski’s comment about needing immigrants to wipe bums in care homes exactly the way @Clavinova does, and in any case it will be on iPlayer. It really wasn’t his finest moment.Marina Hyde’s article was excellent.

But then I’m …fine… with ZP. I thought more highly of previous Green leaders. He’s very charismatic, though, and it was impressive that he and Daisy Cooper brought the audience along on a wave of hope.

Why he/she has never ever criticised the Tories and some of the awful things that have done.
Listening to Sky on SE Asian economic visa abuse, since Brexit, which opened up non EU immigration, 100s of 1000s of over stayers, thought to be 400k, dwarfs X channel but no Tory speaks about this....

Farage/Badenoch/Jenrik ? you couldn't put a fag paper between them now.

I was ambiguous. I also have a very dim opinion of the Reform leadership, even though I think a good % of supporters are simply desperate.

But the comment about ZP’s throwaway line was one of the very few times, perhaps the only time, I have agreed with @Clavinova
