Farage’s racism

I haven’t yet seen a post about this story: Twenty people allege he has a racist past. He denies it. Who’s telling the truth about Farage’s schooldays? | Nigel Farage | The Guardian

Farage no longer categorically denies these incidents, and is now trying to fudge things by saying he didn’t mean any harm and it was a long time ago - presumably because he knows it is true and realises that 20 separate people saying it means only the truly deluded wouldn’t believe he was a racist.

But what I am interested in is does this actually assist his election chances? We already know that many of his supporters are racists - does it actually work for him that this blatant racism from him shores up their support? Are they secretly (or perhaps not so secretly in some cases) pleased?

And what do those of you who are Reform supporters but believe yourself not be racist think? Does it make you change your mind about him or Reform?

Twenty people allege he has a racist past. He denies it. Who’s telling the truth about Farage’s schooldays?

Reform UK’s leader refuses to answer questions about his abusive behaviour, claiming there’s ‘no evidence’. We talk to victims and witnesses

Do we think the tide might be turning?

We can hope. I wonder if the T is alarmed by the Russia connections?

It could be. 🤞

I hope so! Strange the telegraph has suddenly turned though, they were defending him yesterday and calling the left desperate for smearing him. Perhaps they’re trying to appear more balanced.

Hedging their bets in case there is more scandal to come, perhaps?

Looks like it. The Telegraph has never pretended to be balanced.

All seems a bit sordid ...

DuncinToffee · 07/12/2025 21:18

I expect Dan Hodges will be all over it, just like with the Clacton house.....

Did you use a word starting with c and ending in rypto @Teanbiscuits33 ? MN likes to hide those posts

Velveletteslonleylonelygirlami · 07/12/2025 21:35

The Daily Mail is at it trying to stir it in Aberdeen,it's to do with flags and Christmas lights .Aberdeen is a very tolerant city and long may it continue ,we don't have the blight of secteranism that blights the west coast of Scotland.
Another distraction article to take the heat off Farage.

Teanbiscuits33 · 07/12/2025 21:38

I had the post deleted for mentioning something that MN clearly doesn’t allow! But it’s in the independent that the watchdog has been urged to look into them over the 9m donation. I wonder whether they’ll find yet more Russian links!

He is now happy meeting with France's far right National Rally party leader,

Farage is trying to normalise racism and antisemitism. He’s saying that it was just “banter” and making out that it was perfectly normal in the 1970s and 80s to say things like “Hitler was right”, making ‘jokes’ about gas chambers and concentration camps, and bullying black and Asian kids in school.

Well I was at school in the 70s and 80s and it certainly wasn’t normal or acceptable. If anyone had come out with that sort of garbage at my school it would have been stamped on by teachers. Other kids would have avoided a kid spouting this stuff, or argued with them.

There was certainly more casual racism in the language people used in the street and on tv compared to now, but targeted racism like this - no.

Too many of Farage’s contemporaries are confirming the same stories about racist bullying by him. They can’t all be wrong, and most people’s memories are very clear when it comes to schooldays. Mine is. He was not normal.

He’s quite deliberately inflammatory, his resting face is a supercilious smirk and his rudeness is unparalleled. I hate the way he interrupts people and shouts them down. I thought it was the Labour guy who asked him to mind his manners.

his rudeness is unparalleled

I thought Zack Polanski's comment about needing foreign nationals to 'wipe bums' was far ruder than anything Zia Yusuf said on the QT show - both to foreign nationals and UK care workers. Plus I remember the Labour MP interrupting Zia Yusuf.

BIossomtoes · 10/12/2025 22:07

We clearly watched a different programme @Clavinova. I do hope after your relentless defence of the Tories you’re not going to adopt the same approach to Reform.

I don't think so - Marina Hyde;

Make a political hero of Zack Polanski if you want. Just don’t forget to engage your brain

... Green party leader Zack Polanski appearing on Question Time last week. If you missed this moment, or are trying to avoid it because you quite want to vote for him and are already trying to avoid the boob-hypnosis video (more on that later!), Zack took the opportunity of the show’s immigration special to explain to the audience: “One in five care workers are foreign nationals. I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly want to wipe someone’s bum, and I’m very grateful for the people who do this work.”

Again: ooooooof. So that’s what they’re there for – and, indeed, that’s what care work is. Still, what a standup guy for being grateful.

And thank goodness for the anti-woke vibe shift, right? After all, Zack metaphorically showing his arse while talking about elderly and disabled people’s “bums” is precisely the sort of thing that the cancellers would have cancelled you for as recently as a year ago. Imagine my synthetic shock, then, to note so many of the great witch-hunters of the past decade finding absolutely nothing to see here. Imagine my synthetic wonderment at all the Green party devotees who are able to defend this moment as coming from a good place.

🔴Nigel Farage’s Russian Influence Advent Calendar

Byline Times has compiled a festive offering of the prize moments when the Reform leader has gifted the political agenda to Vladimir Putin and Russia

To be fair - Jeremy Corbyn or his communications director Seumas Milne could replace Farage's name in most of those articles: Corbyn appeared multiple times on Russia Today, made similar comments on the Salisbury/Novichok poisoning, said Ukraine was corrupt, Seumus Milne wrote articles for the Guardian blaming NATO/EU/the West for provoking Putin re-Ukraine...
