What does this school mum actually think the rest of us are queuing for??

In general I arrive at my child’s school for pick up about 5 minutes before the playground gate is opened. Not on purpose, it just happens that sometimes the walk is quicker than others. Sometimes I’m the first one there, sometimes there are a few people in front, and others join the queue behind me.

One particular mum will turn up bang on collection time (fine) and just walk past the queue of people patiently waiting and stand right in front of the gate.
As if we aren’t all there for the same reason.

It actually baffles me that she seems to think that her need to collect her child is any greater than the rest of us, but so far haven’t said anything because I can’t be arsed with any playground drama, although yesterday I was tempted to side step in front of her just as the gate was open.

is this not just straight up rude behaviour?

Just all block her out so she has to go behind you all - petty I know 🤣.

I’m not sure if you’re the same poster who shared your need to sit down on a bench before entering the school gate and after, but no, she doesn’t appear to have any (invisible) physical need to do what she’s doing - and again, as she’s standing waiting to be let in what she’s doing isn’t helping to ease any physical part of pick up anyway. She’s not walking to an area to sit before pick - just an area she has decided she’d rather stand.

You pay a fantastic amount of attention to her. Surely you are focussed on collecting your own child not where another parent stands?

Hard not to pay attention when she’s walked past you when you are patiently waiting like everyone else 🙂
that, and the fact that collecting a child from school isn’t exactly tasking on the brain.

I honestly don’t know how to answer questions like this - the queue is to go through the currently locked single width gate.

But why queue! Just stand back from the gate, or get there when it opens...you're all going to get in at some point. They don't want to keep your kids...

This thread is making my blood boil, I completely understand where you're coming from, I would be fuming at this entitled or thick woman. I just couldn't imagine seeing a queue and just skipping in at the front. Reading some of the replies on here I can see there are many similar CF's about. Same CF's who raised entitled cheeky bullying brats probably!
Definitely say "excuse me sugar tits, the queue end is just down there, yep those people you've just walked past hun, funnily enough we aren't a permanent fixture or a festive art installation, JOG ON!"

Your post just screams anger issues.

You won’t be doing your health any favours, being this uptight.

Yes, nothin says patient quite like bypassing all the other people there that are waiting for the exact same reason and deciding you need to get through the gate first.

So are any of you going to say anything or are you all going to carry on standing there stewing every day?

Just think about something more interesting then. Bring a book to read or listen to an interesting podcast or chat to people.

I am not sure you know what the word "entitled" means 😉

Ah, so you are not one of those people who, when standing in a line of people, feels entitled to insist that others stand in the line, rather than walking to the front of it? But you do think that you know other people's internal motivations without ever having spoken to them? So, not so much a sense of entitlement as someone who thinks they have a Godlike understanding of other people’s behaviour? Is it really having a “sense of entitlement” to stand in a space by a gate you are going to walk through? Or is it the people in the line and complaining who have the sense of entitlement as their reward for being at the front of the line?

It has nothing whatsoever to do with patience. The fact is, you don’t have the faintest idea what she thinks she “needs” or why she does what she does, because you have never spoken to her. You have just got yourself wound up to nobody’s gain and your loss.

Its boggling op. People like that have very main character energy and think the world revolves around them

She doesn't mention anything about confrontation with the woman.

blimey, you are giving this A LOT of thoughts 😂😂

I do think it's extremely rude to squeeze yourself in front of people who are obviously standing in front of a gate/ door/ entrance waiting to be let in, and it's basic manner not to push through but wait your turn behind them.

I am not sure what possible confusion it could be about a group of people standing in front of school gates at school pick up time, and what else than waiting for the door to open they could possibly be doing there, and why some entitled rude individual would think they should just go past everyone else to make sure THEY go first, because obviously everyone else can just wait behind.. classic CF.

That was longer than I thought but the reactions and outraged posters trying to justify their rude behaviour does crack me up 😂

Op - you have the patience of a saint! The collection of idiotic comments you’ve responded to is incredible, I despair for this country sometimes (although suspect that some are surely just trolling as no one can be that hard of understanding!).

anyway, she jumps the queue because she is a rude fucker, some people just are.

I’ve actually said I’m baffled by it and find it rude - not that I’m wound up.

in fact, there’s many posters on this thread that are more wound up about my thoughts than I am about the queue jump. The only ‘loss’ I’ve experienced has been of the time spent on the thread, which is quite minimal so nothing for you to concern yourself with.

I should probably stop responding, but I keep having pockets of time where I’m just killing it anyway, so may as well give them more to froth over.
Might break the record for the amount of time anyone has been told that the queue that they stand in daily isn’t actually a queue, by the people who have no knowledge of the layout and have never seen the queue.
also, the amount of times the word ‘queue’ is typed in one thread

Just ask the woman why she does it, or stop thinking about it. Judging others on the back of ignorance is, imvho, an unpleasant characteristic.

OP! I am so baffled by all the responses diagreeing with you! 🤣🤣 Of course it is utterly bizarre! I can only think that people aren’t visualising the situation correctly (even though you described it well). It’s really laughable that she does this. I’d leave her to it 🤣

😂

Still unsure what parents "not queuing" are supposed to be doing standing and waiting at pick up time in front of the school gates.

A PTA meeting? A mindfulness class? Performance art? 😂

Does anyone else laugh when they see the word baffled on here. It’s like the in word that everyone likes to use. No one really uses it in real life but it’s almost law to proclaim yourself baffled on mumsnet. 😂

Haha true. It’s the kind of word I’d use more in writing than in-person

maybe I’ll step in front of her as the gates as open next time I’m behind her, and use her reaction to gauge if she’s being a CF, or genuinely doesn’t think about the queue.
