What does this school mum actually think the rest of us are queuing for??

In general I arrive at my child’s school for pick up about 5 minutes before the playground gate is opened. Not on purpose, it just happens that sometimes the walk is quicker than others. Sometimes I’m the first one there, sometimes there are a few people in front, and others join the queue behind me.

One particular mum will turn up bang on collection time (fine) and just walk past the queue of people patiently waiting and stand right in front of the gate.
As if we aren’t all there for the same reason.

It actually baffles me that she seems to think that her need to collect her child is any greater than the rest of us, but so far haven’t said anything because I can’t be arsed with any playground drama, although yesterday I was tempted to side step in front of her just as the gate was open.

is this not just straight up rude behaviour?

I can't believe how nasty these posts can get 😪

I can.

Why is there a need to queue? Everyone is getting in when gates open. You could be first parent in and your child be last out. Different if its a bus queue or checkout queue, but this is silly imo

Yeah, this has been one of the best threads for awhile. The OP is worked up about something that literally means nothing and then we have a load of people defending queueing up - for nothing. I mean you couldn’t write this, it’s so British. “You’ll not get any reward for queuing, you’ll get into the playground whether you queue or not, but God help you if you don’t join the queue!”

Although I agree the person who goes and stands right by the gate and doesn’t queue probably does think she’s better than everyone else- and for good reason. I wonder if there’s something about schools that just make people revert back to children? I’ve seen it myself. The parents needlessly queueing up at home-time instead of the kids, is a new one though

This thread is priceless. A common set-up in so many schools and half the poster not understanding the most obvious arrangements, or falling over themselves to justify why they obviously couldn't follow the most basic rules because they don't agree or because they're too important to follow petty details.
😂😂

The best comment so far still being: I arrive on time, so I don't wait, people who are too early have to queue and wait after me, I go first 😂😂

Again, not surprising, we all know about parking around Primary schools. They're the exact same people 😂

RobinEllacotStrike · 28/11/2025 12:43

Is anything funnier than people getting all het up & super judgy * furious about people not "obeying the law" around a pointless unneeded "queue".

How very British.

😂😂
No, I am neither jealous, threatened nor uncomfortable about this total stranger than I only see on the school run.

Crazy, I know…but my only issue is the one I included in the thread.

Any update on the other person you had an issue with (the woman on you were doggedly following on SM and suspected she was driving without a license) @aperolspritzbasicbitch

Yeah, I updated that thread ages ago.

But I think you already know that, and this is some attempt to paint me as a misogynist.

The cap doesn’t fit though, sorry.

When you wonder WHO are the people who famously park like "idiots" to stay polite around schools, and who do they think they are, you just need to read this thread, they're all on it 😂

"i make my own rule because I am more important than you, so I jump queue/ block drives" same thing. Classic 😂

The difference is that the parkers inconvenience everyone else. They get there far too early*, park in stupid places, park on pavements, leave their engines running, block driveways.

it is entirely different to the OP's scenario.

*someone broke the record yesterday on my road. School pick-up is from 3.20. They were there at 14.03!

Or maybe do as you do…. And stalk face book randoms

or get very exercised about queuing

😆

katepilar · 28/11/2025 20:17

Is she British? Does she realise there is a queue? It a ridiculous habit to stand in queue by a school gate when I think about it.

Exercised?

Mental or emotional state
To have one's mind troubled or made uneasy.
Example: "He was exercised about the potential changes".

I'm amazed. There are schools where people actually queue? I've not seen one that isn't an absolute free-for-all. The school my DD goes to, collection is like ladybirds vying for the corner of the bathroom window in winter. Get to the classroom, exactly the same - the first person there doesn't necessarily collect their child first; rather, the first to collect relies on the child's position in the strangely orderly queue inside the classroom. But hey, fair play to those parents who actually queue, be it an unnecessary yet conscious effort or the wonderfully British need to join what presents as a queue when we see one. Perhaps she doesn't realise there's a queuing system. Perhaps people just assume there's a queuing system and she's the only one who knows there isn't one and considered the possibly immense amount of parentless space should give it away, in which case she's probably thinking you're all a bit weird. Or perhaps she's just somewhat rude. Anyone's guess.

Huh?! @GoditsmemargaretThink you’ve mis read my posts!! I’ve been standing up for the OP @aperolspritzbasicbitchwho has been name called and criticised. I’ve been calling out the abuse and bullying on this site.

ive been questioning the people who don’t seem to understand the purpose of the queue.

so either you’ve got the wrong person or you’re gaslighting and now one of the bullies?

I've also reported people - one of whom turned out to be a banned poster.
