Labour isn't working - Thread 19

TheNuthatch · 13/11/2025 20:08

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Exactly - it’s the equivalent of ‘drink and dial’…

Don’t do it!

EmeraldRoulette · 13/11/2025 21:16

Hello everyone
It's been a busy day

Also, I've not looked in because.. I am not amused! I'm not following the shit show at the moment.

Today I briefed my mother about the BBC. In fairness to her, she is 86 years old and decided last year that she was not going to engage with this politics any more.

She didn't even know about the Trump thing. It was quite an interesting conversation from my point of view, because I think she really thought I was being mad, but the Trump edit has really shocked her.

It’s shaping up to be one helluva hangover in the morning.

I hope it was worth it.

That feeling when you've woken up the morning after the night before, and have the beer fear wondering if you made a dick of yourself.

I've only posted twice on these threads i mainly lurk on this and the other one, but this ones a wild ride and im shamelessly place marking.

I bet your Mum barely recognises the bbc of today.

I am SO glad you started these threads and kept them going. I honestly thought I was losing my mind before and just after the election. Grown ups in charge now or something 👀 I knew it would all collapse, I just didn’t think it would be this quick. I am here for the tears and tantrums. It’s just too funny. If Labour had not been so spiteful alongside their supporters: I may not be getting as much joy out of it as I am now..

EmeraldRoulette · 13/11/2025 21:36

@NoWordForFluffy I don't recognise that, it looks like a cross between SpongeBob SquarePants and an owl 😂

@TheNuthatch it's complicated. The thing about being 86 is to some extent you barely recognise a lot of things because the pace of change has been so rapid -particularly recently. I suddenly realised that for some people, the BBC News would be considered some sort of stability. Ha ha ha ha ha - no.

I mean, I did try to warn her when I got rid of it ages ago 🤷🏻‍♀️

she doesn't look at the website - I think if you look at that then it's more obvious that there's an agenda.

she was very very worried about Labour and Keir Starmer in particular. Actually, their huge majority was the key point in her saying "I don't want to know about this any more".
