Labour isn't working - Thread 19

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Hopefully you posted this on the pro Labour echo chamber. No? Thought not.

Maybe the poster couldn't find a cat picture to garnish the post and that's why they didn't post there?

Its not our fault that Starmer is shit 📣

Yep. A reminder for those who read and lash out. Look to Starmer and Reeves. They are shite.

@Damnthetorpedoes

Exactly! I should be free to post where I like on a public forum without being ridiculed for having an opposing view.

To me, that is unity. That we accept differences kindly. I haven’t called anyone an ‘it’ or referred to their comments as stupid.

It’s so draining - I can’t get excited about rumours of no rise in income tax, it simply means they’re going to target a narrower tax base more intensively….two more weeks...

I think they've realised that their MPs and remaining supporters aren't financially literate enough to understand that 2% increase in income tax alongside 2% off basic rate NI means their pet non-working people would be no worse off, and that it's just a slightly more subtle way to target the same group of 'the broad-shouldered' yet again

So they've dropped the subtlety and will go for more obvious class war policies to appease their core support.

They might try to position a reduction in the tax thresholds (perhaps to reflect Scotland's?) as 'everyone playing their part' without breaking the letter of the manifesto promise by increasing the rate of the band.

That would be a huge hit on higher earners. They're deluded if they think people won't notice that their pay packet has shrunk substantially!! It's not an abstract idea for us, Rachel. It's a real difference in real money that we now no longer have, because you stole it.

Exactly. There still that Starmer and Reeves’ shaped £40bn hole to fill.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 14/11/2025 07:59

This whole kite flying thing is getting so tedious.

I don't understand how this is helpful, it only increases uncertainty and kills consumer confidence in the busiest shopping time of the year.

It's been affecting the housing market.

Just think of something reasonable and stick to it. The backbenchers will never be happy. You job is To Deliver For The Country, not to hold their hand.

EasternStandard · 14/11/2025 08:02

It’s utterly ridiculous. Confidence is down. There are a load of pitches at work on hold because people are waiting on this looming budget.

Fucking numpties quite frankly

Rivalled · 14/11/2025 08:02

I don’t understand how they think they’re not leading us to recession, killing off retail in peak season.

Exactly. They will just come for less of us, but harder. Brilliant. Meanwhile posters on this website are telling tax payers that the tax they pay “isn’t your money” seemingly unable to grasp the fact that if I don’t drag my arse out of bed at 5am and go to my (non) work, that tax wouldn’t be paid and the government wouldn’t have it to give away?

Why on earth did Reeves give that recent early morning speech other than to trail income tax hikes? And now she’s leaking that she won’t do that, but something else. 🙄

If she’d stuck to the earlier budget date and kept her and her team’s mouths shut we’d be in a better state.

The ineptitude of this government is staggering. The economy suffers as the government runs from one panic to another.

Yes.

You have a job, you do it. You don't just go round leaking bits and pieces and then painting yourself in a corner.

upseedaisee · 14/11/2025 08:23

Morning folks!
Gordon Bennett I go to bed early and all hell breaks loose!

Starmer and Reeves are doing more U-turns than a learner driver!
Remember Maggie " To those waiting with bated breath for that favourite media catchphrase, the 'U-turn', I have only one thing to say: 'You turn if you want to. The lady's not for turning!' " Shame the same can't be said for Reeves. At this rate she'll meet herself coming back!

On the off chance you’re genuine, and you happened upon this thread by chance, and don’t know about another long running political thread with different views more like yours … the other thread has Starmer and Pinko in the title. Good luck. Bon chance. A bien tot.

Parliament debate digital ID. Will be interesting on the 8th Dec. Gaslighting the plebs no doubt. Hopefully there will be some sane voices. But still Starmer and his poisonous ilk have decided we shall have digital ID.

Hopefully everyone will desist and make it impossible to administer.

I do actually worry about the instability when Starmer goes, but if it happens soon enough to stop digital id then it will be worth the pain.

You might be right. Blair doesn’t have much control over the proper deranged lefties does he. Every cloud.

Legolava · 14/11/2025 08:28

Has anyone noticed the real lack of BF deals this year? I know it’s not usually until the last Friday and it’s relatively a modern thing. However, retailers usually spam it through the whole of November: it’s like Christmas shopping is off the table. That will be catastrophic, surely?

Parsley4321 · 14/11/2025 08:28

Maggie listen to her speaches jeez what a woman
Ken Clarke last night that’s what a great politician looks and sounds like
sultana fux sake thick as mince

I wouldn't be surprised if they now raise NI and claim that they are just reversing Hunt's NI cut.

Ah, but that wouldn't hit landlords and pensioners - who they really want to punish - so I can't see that happening.

Rivalled · 14/11/2025 08:36

Can’t tell if retailers can’t afford the deeper discounts this year or if they’ve changed strategy to run big campaigns end Nov….
