Labour isn't working - Thread 19

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

My eldest who loves different teas and coffees always asks for something from F&M at Christmas.

I've got a brew, and a chunk of Tesco own brand fruit and nut bar 😂😂
Living the high life.

Be honest. How does Tesco’s own fruit and nut compare to dairy milk fruit and nut?

Also agree that Lidl stollen is the best. Coop a close second! Fortnum's stollen is rubbish!

My husband spent a lot of time in Germany, he thinks that the ones from Lidl are the best!

My ds is the same. He lives abroad, but always asks for a box of F&M tea for when he comes home for Xmas. He also requests a Snowdonia Cheese Co Black Bomber every year.

Honestly I prefer it. I don't really like milk chocolate as I find it too sweet. The tesco one isn't as sweet so I buy it for that reason.
The only chocolate I eat usually is 85% dark, I like black and greens.

The co-op fair trade dark chocolate is lovely too.

Thanks, I'll grab some to try next time I go to co-op.

I found organic dark hazelnut chocolate at Intermarché, really massive chunky bars. It was the stuff of dreams.

Fruit and Nut you say? Hmm

Is there anything you want to share with us?

Yes! We make our own Currywurst sauce.

Black bomber is food of the gods. He should try the rock star cheese as well (snowdonia cheese co do hampers)

Ahh. You’re like my dad. The only dark chocolate I eat is on After Eights .. ooo I’d love those now!

Rexinasaurus · 15/11/2025 20:56

I’m in on my own now. Me and Netflix / Amazon Prime.

I’ve opened a bottle of red wine, which I know nothing about (wine in general). DH knows about these things. I’m wondering if I’ve opened an expensive one because it doesn’t taste like vinegar… hmm I’ll save a bit for him!

DancingFerret · 15/11/2025 21:00

Since we're talking about food (my favourite subject!😋), I can highly recommend the Yorkshire Baking Company's Treacle Mega Loaf sold by Morrison's for the princely sum of £2.50.

A friend served us some with coffee last weekend and I actually drove out of the area this week to find a Morrison's store and stock up on it. Sad, I know.😙😅

He loves rock star too 😁
I usually buy him a hamper, but also have to buy a few black bombers separately.

My husband has some awesome recipes. I know the base is obviously Heinz ketchup and curry powder but there are some other bits he adds. I’ll ask tomorrow!

EasternStandard · 15/11/2025 21:18

Love the food chat. We’ve been lucky enough to receive amazing Christmas hampers in past years.

Hold on to your drinks. Rayner’s on manoeuvres.

Or they'll tax it.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thank you all for being normal. Against the backdrop of dripping vindictiveness.

It’s The Telegraph so a wait and see I think. Amusing atm, until it’s not so to speak

Angela Rayner is laying the ground for a leadership challenge against Sir Keir Starmer.
The former deputy prime minister and housing secretary is already offering Cabinet roles to MPs in exchange for their support, The Telegraph has been told.

A source familiar with Ms Rayner’s moves said she was “on manoeuvres” and was “getting her ducks in a row” for a leadership bid, adding: “The unions will back her and help her.”
