A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I remember one year sending my son at university a cheese advent calendar. He really loved it.

Love the food chat. We’ve been lucky enough to receive amazing Christmas hampers in past years.

Hold on to your drinks. Rayner’s on manoeuvres.

Yes me too! Much more invested in the eating food chat than in the making food chat the other day.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thank you all for being normal. Against the backdrop of dripping vindictiveness.

It’s The Telegraph so a wait and see I think. Amusing atm, until it’s not so to speak

Angela Rayner is laying the ground for a leadership challenge against Sir Keir Starmer.
The former deputy prime minister and housing secretary is already offering Cabinet roles to MPs in exchange for their support, The Telegraph has been told.

A source familiar with Ms Rayner’s moves said she was “on manoeuvres” and was “getting her ducks in a row” for a leadership bid, adding: “The unions will back her and help her.”

I thought she was mates with Wes.

Omg. If that’s true it is yet another example of them not giving a shit about the electorate. The people who pay for them. The people they work for. They give no fcks about anyone but themselves. This is why people hate politicians these days.

Last thing we need is a ginger Liam Gallagher with a boob job, as PM.

At this stage it’s now just becoming fascinating to watch them start their own implosion. They must think it’s far enough away from the GE and they have time to salvage something from the wreckage but they’re approaching matchstick territory.

And Starmer won them the election. They boot him with a Tory Style Backstabbing, they REALLY lose the floating voters. I mean, they have already… but maybe chuck in some stalwarts. The Tories must be starting to feel some cockles warming.

I mean, we’re going to be taxed to fuck so we might as well enjoy the undignified scramble while bartering and making Cash King Again.

It's not if, but when, Starmer goes now. And it seems that his challengers are quite comfortable stabbing Keir in the back in public. Toast.

Just been to see the 'Running Man' with the two DD's' and have come back to the news that the Ginger Growler is on the move.

The positive being that if she becomes Prime Minister, when someone asks what job can I do without any qualifications. The Answer: become Prime Minister !

For christ sake: What is this country becoming if not a complete and utter embarrassment worthy of 'Carry on Government' the new Film from Rank !

redange · 15/11/2025 22:51

The other thing that needs telling 'Lauren Tate' was very bright, remember the scene with the French Teacher, where she suddenly starts speaking fluent French ! Maybe the scene with Blair for Comic Relief was a premonition for Christmas future !

it is just incredible a 'Fraudster joker and extremely lucky person, who is Un-employable outside of the Labour Party is in line to become Prime Minister !

TheNuthatch · 15/11/2025 23:51

The Guardian saying the same about Rayner. There's also talk of Bunham doing a job swap with an MP to get back in parliament before May. The MP is question is Jim McMahon who was sacked as a minister by Starmer at the last re-shuffle. 👀

The Guardian say the prospect of Burnham is making all the other possible challengers get their ducks in a row to try and beat him to it. 🍿

OP posts:
redange · 16/11/2025 00:18

I know the seat Oldham West as my DH attempted to become a potential parliamentary Conservative Candidate in 2001 in the North West !

That is a huge gamble for Burnham to attempt to get elected in that seat. Currently Now Cast suggest Labour are polling around 18% in the constituency and Reform around 35%.

Unless you are actually suggesting actual swapping roles, which surely can not happen because that is totally Un- Democratic . i have heard of parachuting a candidate in to a 'safe' seat but never of just swapping a role without representation or a vote !

TheNuthatch · 16/11/2025 00:27

Article I read linked below.
The Guardian are quoting an MP re them swapping jobs. Its bizarre.

My understanding is that Wes and potentially other contenders are terrified by the prospect that Andy Burnham will do a job swap with [Oldham MP] Jim McMahon and get back into the Commons in May,”

Article also states that Rayner is on manoeuvres.

I know of course that an Elected MP can cross the floor to another Party. It cannot be allowed surely for a non elected person to become an MP which would be the case of Andy Burnham and Jim Mcmahon .

I would be surprised if that was allowed too. Surely they can't just swap? There is no correction or qualification in the article, so who knows. 🤷‍♂️

Unless the writing in the Guardian is so bad, they automatically think Burnham will walk a By- Election and Manchester will allow Mcmahon to become Mayor by a coronation because he wears a red rosette .

I’m new to this thread and this forum but I’ve been following for months and cheering you on.

My dream team are Kemi and Ben.

I am outraged by the blatant corruption and lining of pockets. Have we collectively forgotten that that Lego-headed buffoon had the law rewritten to protect his own pension? People moving their own money around to protect assets is considered beyond the pale - but rewrite the law to protect your own and it’s all gravy?

Now for the twist. I’m on UC/LWRCA (I have an illness that grants instant sympathy, not bewilderment) and I think I get too much*. I vote for what I think is the best direction for the country - and I’ve loathed this shower of shit since 97.

*My sister’s tax burden covers my bill which eases her pain somewhat.

If either Burnham or Poundland Oasis get in, I’ll be able to take you out on my yacht. Whilst pleading poverty natch.

The latest November IPSOS poll showed that Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister, has a net negative of 66 in satisfaction ratings while Rachel Reeves is the most unpopular Chancellor in history – with 71 per cent dissatisfied with her.
A total of 66 per cent of Britons polled underlined that they believed Labour’s policies would not improve the economy. The results give Nigel Farage, the Reform leader, an eight-point lead over Sir Keir as the best Prime Minister.

Voters had more faith in Reform on asylum and immigration (35 per cent) compared to Labour (7 per cent), crime and anti-social behaviour (24 per cent) compared to Labour (9 per cent) and handling Britain’s future relationship with the EU (21 per cent) compared to Labour (11 per cent).
They also placed Reform ahead on housing (16 per cent, compared with 12 per cent for Labour), along with unemployment (18 per cent, compared to Labour at 10 per cent), defence (16 per cent, compared to 12 per cent for Labour) and poverty and inequality (16 per cent, compared to Labour on 12 per cent).
The Green Party was ahead when it comes to environmental issues (36 per cent) in comparison to Labour (5 per cent) while the Conservatives were seen as having the best policies for Britain’s businesses (19 per cent) compared to Labour (9 per cent). Reform also took the lead in terms of the public’s voting intention and are on 33, with Labour 18, the Conservatives on 16, Greens on 15 and the LibDems on 12.

Apols if this has already been discussed - I am not in the farming community…

UK farmers prepare to unite for National Day of Unity on 24 November

Farmers from every corner of the UK are gearing up to join a national Day of Unity on Monday 24 November as they come together to highlight growing concerns over changes to agricultural inheritance tax and the future of family farms.

The movement, born from a European day of solidarity, has been organised by major farming groups working in concert to demonstrate unity, strength and shared purpose within the sector.

Beginning at around 10 am, the event will feature peaceful convoys of tractors, farm vehicles parked on overhead road bridges with warning lights, and other visible displays of support on major routes throughout the day.

Organisers say the purpose is two-fold: firstly, to make the farming voice heard as the Autumn Budget approaches, and secondly, to reaffirm the value of family farms, domestic food production and rural livelihoods. They believe that by acting together, farmers can more effectively engage with policymakers, the public, and media to emphasise how vital agriculture is to the UK’s economy and food security.

With questions still swirling around reforms to Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR), the Day of Unity hopes to spotlight how proposed changes could impact generational farms, rural communities and the supply chain. By demonstrating solidarity, participants aim to show that the sector won’t be sidelined or undermined.

For further details on how local groups are planning for the day, interested parties are encouraged to contact their regional farming union or campaign group.

Without alcohol I'd probably still never have had so much as a snog. I was a great believer in "drink till he's cute".

I've only got to this post so far but in a pub I used to go to (different country) it has a big sign saying 'Beer.... Helping ugly people get laid'.

I never knew if I found it funny or offensive. Depended on how much i had had to drink probably.
