Me and 13 year old DD walk part of the way to her school together. This morning the wind was blowing the wrong way and messing her hair up! I suggested she walked backwards..

OP posts:
TheVeryAngryCaterpillar · 03/11/2025 12:32

Not yet a teen, but my tween DD complained on the walk to school that she "wasn't having much fun". I don't know what sort of entertainment she was expecting...

She also was super mardy over the weekend because the half term hols had been "a disappointment". I feel ya kid, the fact that I'm not currently sunning myself on a beach in Gran Canaria is frankly not good enough 😂

Momo385 · 03/11/2025 15:21

Every thing has gone wrong, sbd cintinues to go wrong, usually my fault as well being 13 is super hard and I could never understand apparently. It's also about to get a lot worse as she's told me she's not doing her dt (I work in the school kitchen) so I've kindly reminded her that phones are a privilege. We'll see how this plays out lol

Hoppinggreen · 03/11/2025 15:23

I got my DS up at 7.30 as requested but he forgot there is no college today

TheMasterplan23 · 03/11/2025 15:30

My DS was mortified to find out we’d run out of Orzo.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 03/11/2025 15:34

I gave her a 10 minute warning until bedtime. She was moody I was warning her as she said didn’t need to be warned.

The next day I didn’t warn her. Cue “why didn’t you warn me I only had 10 minutes left?!”

I can’t win 😑

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 03/11/2025 15:36

Its Monday. And he has college...again!

Elevenseconds · 03/11/2025 15:36

My 13 year old is cross that there are too many books set in Yorkshire.

chipsticksmammy · 03/11/2025 15:38

My teen DD hates her surname, she wants to change it.

Fine.......

OneFootAfterTheOther · 03/11/2025 15:52

DS2 has not written the outline for his EPQ. (School deadline end of the week). He is in a grump because he is worried he hasn’t got enough time to write it properly. He was warned. I suggested he didn’t do, because “rubbish at course work” runs through him like Blackpool rock.

In true DS2 style he has in fact completed all the research for it, knows an insane amount about the topic. But it is all in his head - none of is on paper.

It is not helping his mood that he knows it’s a mess entirely of his own making…

leccybill · 03/11/2025 16:09

Spider in the school shoe this morning, cue much hysterics from the 15 year old.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 03/11/2025 16:16

Ds is annoyed with me because I said he isn't allowed unlimited access to a screen, things got very slack during mid term. Both DS2 and Dd are raging because I reiterated the rule that screen are off at 9pm and no tech in the bedroom. Ds1 18 is furious because we have an automatic car and he wants a manual licence. All are annoyed they got a small portion of vegetables with dinner. Ds1 was complaining yesterday that his bedlinen wasn't dry because he forgot to put it in the dryer and he doesn't like the other set so went to bed with none, it would be too much work to put on the set he doesn't like for one night while his favourite set is drying. They have very tough lives.

Shamoo44 · 03/11/2025 16:27

Got a certificate in maths class.

Fluffypiki · 03/11/2025 16:34

Ds just started to work for Christmas (thanks to me ) all excited because it is good money and yet all grumpy because he thought he was off on Sunday after his first shift 🙄🙄. 11 hours a week hardly slavery.

shellyleppard · 03/11/2025 16:36

@leccybill bet the spider wasn't too happy either....😁

AllJoyAndNoFun · 03/11/2025 16:37

New headmaster has indicated intention to tighten phone policy.

Bluescissorsbluepen · 03/11/2025 17:01

I asked if homework was done and shouted after him when he walked away. Apparently he walked away because I always cast him as the villain. Not sure quite who the homework protagonist is but it’s not bloody me. Hey ho.

chipsticksmammy · 03/11/2025 18:06

Well she’s come home from school and is now wailing about the 15 year old kitchen floor - hates the colour and the fact we have ‘poverty Netflix’ as it can only be used by 2 screens. She appears to be livid about this while munching through a Pieminster pie.

She has such a hard life. I regularly just think ‘dick head’ when I hear the rubbish she and her friends spout.

(She hasn’t spotted the pie had a £2 yellow sticker on it, she would be appalled.
Small victory for me)

Bearsandflowers · 03/11/2025 18:27
  1. Annoyed at the indiscretion of a lunch lady who loudly outted a child's account for being in the red "get this right......" "She has no right" think Nicky from B.B ... "Who is she?????"
2.Wind messed up her hair so she had to do it again midday....

Heavy Monday 🤣

pterodactylpinky · 03/11/2025 18:27

Mine is annoyed because I ate the bar of chocolate he told me multiple times he didn’t want yesterday.

piscofrisco · 03/11/2025 18:33

DSS2’s hair wasnt right this morning and He had put his brothers jumper on by mistake.
DSS1 therefore also had the wrong jumper on. They argued for ten minutes about whose fault this was whilst still wearing the wrong jumpers, which made them 10 mins late for school and me 10 mins late for work instead of simply swapping jumpers which would have taken 30 seconds. I got the silent treatment all the way to school for pointing this out.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 03/11/2025 18:38

It was soup for dinner tonight. Someone call SS.

EmeraldDreams73 · 03/11/2025 18:46

Timely thread! Dd17 had "the worst day of her life at college" today. Retold with much drama.

Salient points: one teacher announced that the coursework they were expecting was actually two pieces of performance/written work, but with v little notice (she likes to be prepared tbf), another teacher has mysteriously stepped up her game and put more content into the lesson than ever before, she stood on a nail while walking between classes and her knickers showed when she was bending to remove it, she had a shit sleep last night (so did I), and some twats were walking too slowly in front of her ALL the way from one building to another (city centre, various buildings, always v busy) and vaping something particularly noxious which she loathes.

We also have no snacks and have the lowest household income of the entire world (compared to her mates, true, but we manage, she's just not spoilt like them but thinks she should be).

You win @piscofrisco🤣

Ketzele · 03/11/2025 18:59

Me. I was all kinds of wrong. In particular, I refused to understand that she can't help yelling and swearing at me when Im being annoying.

NotDarkGothicMama · 03/11/2025 20:00

DS was late to football practice. This was "not his fault" even though he emerged from his pit 14 minutes before it started, when it takes 20 minutes to get there. This was after me making his dinner and giving him 30, 25 and 20-minute warnings. Apparently I should have factored in time for him to finish the game be was playing on his switch. I despair. Any future partner is going to be on here getting told to LTB.
