What lighthearted thing has gone wrong for your teenager today?

Me and 13 year old DD walk part of the way to her school together. This morning the wind was blowing the wrong way and messing her hair up! I suggested she walked backwards..

I've washed one of their favourite hoodies without asking.

I plead guilty but in my defence they've been wearing it since it was bought at start of September and not been washed despite several requests made by myself of "put it in the laundry basket please"

I am washing another of their hoodies tomorrow.....

My son (then 13) insisted on walking around Naples in 33 degree heat in his Nike hoodie… when I suggested it might be too hot I was just glared at like I had three heads. He went on to walk around Pompeii a day later in the same hoodie while I quietly boiled in a vest top. I have photos to prove it 🤣

Chickoletta · 06/11/2025 22:44

DD is a talented musician and has a competition next week. The pieces she has entered are not perfect because she has not practised them enough. This is not her fault….

Can't beat a teenager suffering because they are absolutely determined to make a point!

I've had ones who have refused to eat the meal I made or make themselves something because of something along the lines of "stealth onions"! I could hear a tummy rumbling but no....they will go hungry because that'll teach me!

"Stealth onions" - it's the sort of thing I would have said. 😝
I used to suffer to make a point: I'd wear trainers without socks in summer to make the point that it didn't do me any harm, as adults would always try to talk me out of it.

It rained. She washed her hair to go shopping with her friends. Opened the front door to leave and shouted oh my god. Then looked at me and said it’s raining, why is it raining?……

oh I don’t know my precious daughter but let me just phone up Mother Nature and ask her for you

DoAWheelie · 09/11/2025 08:08

Teenage DCat3 is very upset that he only managed to steal two of his sisters treats when by rights he should be able to steal them all and run and hide under the bed with them while she starves gets given more treats to replace them.

Well she’s come home from school and is now wailing about the 15 year old kitchen floor - hates the colour and the fact we have ‘poverty Netflix’ as it can only be used by 2 screens. She appears to be livid about this while munching through a Pieminster pie.

She has such a hard life. I regularly just think ‘dick head’ when I hear the rubbish she and her friends spout.

(She hasn’t spotted the pie had a £2 yellow sticker on it, she would be appalled.
Small victory for me)

I heart things from the poison counter!

MsGinaLinetti · 09/11/2025 08:17

My DS has been asked to sort out his pile of schoolwork.

Twinklewonderkins · 09/11/2025 08:28

Mine is cross that the flamingo costume they have for ballet is the wrong shade of pink. It’s too bright, I’d say the shade is probably called “flamingo”…

ThePure · 09/11/2025 08:45

Her monthly allowance didn’t land in her account today. She didn’t know that banks don’t process payments on a Sunday. She supposes she ‘will have to survive’ until tomorrow. Get out the tiny violin.

A boy hit her on the head with a Frisbee. And now all the boys are laughing about the Inbetweeners episode. And she now, 1. Has a black eye and, 2. Doesn't know what the Inbetweeners is and is VERY annoyed.
Boo hoo. You cant make this shit up.

Was the Frisbee incident by accident or did they do it on purpose?

You also wouldn't like it if you had a black eye and your coworkers were all laughing at you. I would not say this was "teen drama", but something that is genuinely upsetting.

DS 15 is annoyed that we are not Japanese and living in Tokyo.

Made me laugh 😆 my youngest was the same at 15/16 …almost 15 years later still the same 🤣
And we have been to Tokyo , it’s not all anime and / or Tokyo Vice.
Many old ladies waiting for the bus with their shopping trolleys and don’t even think about going to Ueno park on a public holiday 😂 and we only saw one or 2 unusually dressed young people in Harajuku

FirstCuppa · 09/11/2025 10:39

Mine got two demerits for not finishing maths homework. She had done MOST of it, just not the last 5 questions but that should be taken into consideration and it shows the whole system is unfair and her teacher hates her. It wasn't even her fault as she hadn't realised she even had maths homework until I (mum) asked her at the end of half term if there was any homework but we were away at the start so I should have checked sooner, so technically it's my (mum) fault.

Yes, it's amazing how these maths teachers always seem to pick on them for no reason, isn't it? My son's teacher also "has it in for him". I'm like "well maybe try completing your homework". The other one was:

" Why did you get a sanction for not doing your English HW?"
"Oh. My. God. She didnt tell us. She literally didnt tell us. No-one knew about it"
" So nobody did the homework?"
"Well yeah, I mean some people did because they somehow found out about it"

So basically they were listening when she told you about it. FML. These poor teachers. 😂

I think I may have said this to my poor mother as a teen!

The whole thread is delightful.

When you work with teenagers nothing embarrasses you. We know all your secrets because they love to share.

That’s not always true. I know for a fact that ds2 will not even admit to having a mother. Let alone one as EMBARRASSING as me.

TwelvePiecesOfFlair · 09/11/2025 12:20

Today ds2 was outraged because I didn’t wake him up in time for work after he set his alarm to snooze. Nothing to do with the fact that he came in at 2 am last night…

drspouse · 09/11/2025 12:25

We made my 11yo go to Scout Remembrance service. I have to admit I was slightly worried she would be the only one there because we used to take DS to it when he was in Beavers but there were loads of other Scouts and she didn't melt in the three minutes that were in the rain.

PunksVersusBrats · 09/11/2025 12:31

The breakfast hash browns were too crispy.

Haha, doesn’t every teenager find their mother annoying and embarrassing? But they come back to you again, so enjoy the space!

ThePure · 09/11/2025 12:48

When my DH was at 6th form he used to make his mum park around the corner when she dropped him off so no one would find out she was PREGNANT with his youngest siblings. The horror. Actual evidence of your parents still having sex.

SEPTEMBER? I am surprised it hasn't walked itself to the washing machine!

SweetLathyrus · 09/11/2025 14:58

My daughter did the walking around a Mediterranean island in hoodie and black jeans, and generally being embarrassed by/about me. Now in her early-mid twenties she sends pictures of us doing stuff together to her friends with the caption "My Queen" (small sniffles of pride!) - they do comeout the other side.

My kids are reeking after 1 day of wear 🤣

Today I bought the wrong kind of steak….

We then had a tough chat about having to grill a Cindy’s crispy pancake in the 80s 😂
