Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

What a way to talk to someone. Try #BeKind.

Mh services are not 'on their knees'. You can't however force people to access treatment unless they do something that requires section.

The irony of your username telling people to fuck off

You think additional funding would help in situations where someone with say, schizophrenia, refuses to take medication?

It’s an incredibly common challenge. Just wondering how you envisage better funding helping with these kinds of situations?

Then they could be incarcerated with the extra funding.

I used to work in secure forensic psychiatric wards, we never had enough beds.

I won’t be nice to someone who has hounded me for the last two days being unbelievably rude because I differ in opinions.

But the problem OP is that you have done yourself no favours by accusing posters of being racist and then failing to provide evidence or retract and apologise.

It's really poor behaviour on your part.

Gloriia · 03/11/2025 11:31

Rather than putting everything on mh teams we should also expect family and friends and step in and report people. I bet someone knew this man was behaving erratically and had a weapon. Didn't the Southport murderer's family know he was a huge risk and did absolutely zilch to prevent him from carrying out that atrocity?

You don't have to be nice just debate politely.

Why aren’t you saying this to the poster who was telling OP to shush and be quiet? Is that debating politely?

I think saying shut the fuck up is ruder than saying be quiet yes. For example I'd tell a dc to be quiet I wouldn't say stfu. It's social norms, no?

Gloriia · 03/11/2025 11:40

Anyway op, in summary mass atrocities are more likely carried out by jihadis. We all know this and it isn't racist it is fact.

This one wasn't. I'm not sure what your point is tbh.

So the racists were wrong this time but won't be next time?

Islam isn’t a race.

RingoJuice · 03/11/2025 11:45

It is an interesting fact that in America, it has been observed that blacks who live in urban environments in the north suffer schizophrenia at much higher rates than their counterparts in the rural south.

Something about colder climates and urbanization really sets this off. Iirc they even discovered a higher risk for black Americans born in the north, compared to those who had merely migrated later in life.

It isn't racist to point out jihadis are usually the ones behind atrocities.

Social services and the teachers at the school should have reported it to the police as the murderer was clearly a safeguarding risk, especially after the family asked that it not be reported.

Exactly.

Exactly.

Exactly what?

The police were aware that the Huntington train stabber was a risk. You implied that the families are to blame.

Gloriia · 03/11/2025 11:52

This is like if a bomb went off in a shopping centre in the 70s and everyone said 'it'll be the ira' and folk said 'oooh you can't say that it's xenophobic to Irish'. No, no one would have been blaming the Irish as a whole rather the terrorists who had form for those attacks. If that had been a random mentally ill person, well so what. Does not change the fact we all know who tends to carry out attacks.

It is not racism, it is not xenophobia it is probability.

EasternStandard · 03/11/2025 11:56

@Hoppinggreendo you think it’s a good idea that MI5 are aware of hostile states and potential terror threats?

Or do you think that’s problematic as it assumes too much

Interesting. Perhaps it is linked to vitamin D.
I’ve long thought that our government should provide free vitamin D supplements to non-white citizens.

The head teacher did raise concerns but was then accused of racially profiling Axel. She said that shut her up and she didn’t report him to the police as she was afraid of being tarred as a racist and losing her job.

It’s appears to be quite a common thing to accuse people of doing. The police involved in the Huntingdon incident have also been accused of racial profiling on this very thread, whilst simply trying to do their jobs. Like the teacher in Southport was trying to do.

axel Was reported he was even licked up for a second time acting erratically on a bus and found with a knife and they just dropped him off home.

I don’t think trauma works like that. If he doesn’t suffer severe PTSD after this I’d be astonished.

Has he got trauma? And PTSD? Maybe he's tougher than that. Maybe he's used to being tasered. Maybe he's in the forces. Maybe he thinks the police did their best in difficult circumstances. Who knows.

Edited

All citizens should get it. Especially in Scotland.
