Confirmed by police about half an hour ago that the 35 year old arrested has been released without charge.

He also looked up Nazi ideology, including Hitler.

True. But in the end it was established that he was simply obsessed with violence, and had been going down a dark path for a long time. His parents were blamed for not notifying the authorities that he had been planning a mass murder, his father had stopped him the week before.

You don't think the family of an innocent man shot and killed in error by the police deserve compensation?

A Jewish man was shot dead by police responding to a terror attack against him and you think it’s entitlement for his family to get compensation? Can someone say antisemitism.

Yet you’re still defending racism? Okay

You’re still going with this..

Out of interest why did you respond to wanting to offer refuge to mothers and daughters from Sudan as ‘hateful’?

I’m not sure you have the correct words

OnlyOnAFriday · 03/11/2025 06:07

I just read that the person incorrectly arrested was also tasered. While shouting to the police that it wasn’t him.

You do realise that guilty people are far more likely to profess innocence/deny their involvement upon first contact with police officers/other authority figures ?

Taser use isn't a first resort. Warning is given but if you fail to comply with a lawful order at a time when the police are dealing with a potentially multiple life threatening situation such as they were faced with the other night............

But he was shouting that it wasn’t him! More training for the police needed I think.

🙄🤣

There were 22,000 knife attacks last year. What made this one Islamic terror in your eyes? How did he wield the knife?

Islamist, not Islamic. The fact you keep getting it wrong says to me you just want to fuel your agenda that all white people are racists .

There are often, but not always, cultural differences in the way attacks are carried out. They are very clear to an impartial observer. As I don't think you're an impartial observer interested in balanced discussion I won't waste my time pointing those differences out to you.

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 03/11/2025 09:03

I can see the alleged perpetrator is now being reported as having mental health problems along with being ‘known to the police’. Excellent. We can see where this is going.

I quoted @Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim who said Islamic terror. Why do you keep berating me and not her?

You said this attack bore the hallmarks of Islamist terror but you can’t
say why. Why are you wasting our time then?

bananafake · 03/11/2025 09:13

This is why we need to stop Nigel Farage. He stops short of direct racist comments but he knows his extreme anti-immigration rhetoric (and yes we all know we can't have unlimited immigration) emboldens the racists amongst us to openly spout their vile viewpoints. It started with Brexit but is worryingly prevalent now.

No YOU, @noare wasting time and thread space by not reading my previous answer and pretending I haven't answered.

The second time was not a quote, as you well know. It was you not knowing the difference between a racist and an anti-extremist. You still don't know, do you?

I already gave you three clear hallmarks upthread. Clear as day to anyone whose eyes aren't glued to the same tired old songsheet.

Oh no, that can't be right. So many posters KNEW that it wasn't a MH issue and was DEFINITELY down to ideology and/or migration.

Still I'm sure they'll be along to admit their errors any minte now...

Whilst I do not agree that we should speculate based on nothing, not least when it turns out we have done so incorrectly, there is another just as important side to this?

Why is it that so many people - when a mass attack takes place - jump to the conclusion that the person doing it might well be an immigrant and / or an Islamist? I think the solution lies in ensuring that when a mass attack takes place we have no reason to speculate that it might be down to immigration or Islamism, as opposed to thinking the solution involves telling people they're racist (not least as most of these alleged racist don't seem to have a problem with most immigrants or people who are not white).

The problem with stereotypes is so often they end up being correct which emboldens the rampant bigots. I saw a hell of a lot of small boat rhetoric over Facebook the last couple of days which doesn’t help anyone, particularly the settled immigrant community.
