ABC News: The Department of Transportation might be forced to shut down the airspace in certain parts of the country if the government shutdown continues into next week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Tuesday.

Shit.

Mandani won and the Democrats projected to win the governor races in Virginia and New Jersey.

How long before 🍑 is talking about stolen elections again?

jumpingthehighjump · 05/11/2025 05:53

Mandani said "In this moment of darkness, New York will be the light"

Awaits the orange one's meltdown. He has threatened to remove federal funding if Mandani wins....

How did I not know there was a Trump thread on here?

My husband greets me first thing every day with a cup of tea with the latest Trump or Trump adjacent news. He told me about the concentration camp float and I almost couldn’t believe it. Horrific. Nazi madness. At this point I can believe it, although it still shocks me.

BeeWitchy · 05/11/2025 06:37

Mandami won a ‘thumping victory’ . And a Democratic sweep in Virginia.

Eyesopenwideawake · 05/11/2025 06:43

Fabulous to wake up to good news for the first time in almost a year 👌

placemats · 05/11/2025 06:45

Mandami's win was spectacular. There's no way it can be said that it was rigged.

Serpentstooth · 05/11/2025 07:20

Is that a glimmer of light I see? 🙏 congratulations NY

Spandauer · 05/11/2025 07:36

Hallelujah!
May the mid-terms take inspiration from these results.

Thought I had lost you all! Might be a small blue wave but I feel some hope for the first time in forever.

Listening to Mamdani speaking I had a slight tear in my eye.

Amidst all the hope after the Democratic wins:

Going forward to the mid terms, Republicans will weaponise the Mamdami win, (and therefore the Democratic party) as the thin end of the wedge towards Communism.
Much will depend on how things play out now.

Trump and Mamdani have drawn battle lines — how will they fight?

With no official leader of the opposition in the US system, Democrats expect Zohran Mamdani to become one of their most recognised political figures

Hey, Bigly, look what happens when you're no longer holding hands with Elon.

Spandauer · 05/11/2025 08:57

Guess, if the Dems are lucky, there'll be about 12-24 hours of 'Hope' before Drumpf kills another cat to throw on the Resolute Desk.

Elon seems to be obsessed with English villages, with a population of no more than 500.

Trump's strategy for the future. Will they actually vote to scrap the 60 vote threshold to keep Republicans in power?

Trump wrote that Democrats “are far more likely to win the Midterms, and the next Presidential Election” unless senators vote to scrap the 60-vote threshold for most legislation in the upper chamber.

The irony being that ti would need a vote of 60 to scrap it - unless they have some weird system where a simple majority can remove the need for a supermajority ?

Meanwhile, I'm wondering if the NYC results track the polling ? Because it seems to me that it was supposed to be too close to call etc etc.
