A long ago source from NYC told me he does not type or read.
Stuff is read to him and he dictates replies.

He does not drive either remember

I think he doesn't type as in, sit down at a desk and write something out. I do think he's able to transfer his explosive brain farts to his phone via his stubby swollen little thumbs

Trump veers off-script and does little to calm Republican nerves - BBC News

"I haven't read practically anything off the stupid teleprompter," Trump said about an hour into his speech

Well that explains a lot...

Yes, but he complimented Caroline Leavitt on her beauty and her lips, so not a waste of anyone's time

I tried to watch it all. I really did try, but he went off on so much bollocks and shite I couldn't do it so dipped in and out.

It was lies about the cost of living, particularly the cost of turkeys, 1/3 cheaper than last year apparently. And shite about the wives of Republican politicians. He loves negging his own side.Confused

Threatening Colombia's president as well

It is the bigliest tanker though. Much biglier than any other tanker ever captured though.

correct me if I’m wrong, but the US and Venezuela aren’t officially at war are they?

Only the best people.

Trump launches $1m ‘gold card’ visa scheme amid immigration crackdown.
Wealthy immigrants will be able to buy residency, and $5m ‘platinum card’ will exempt holders from some US taxes.

He can borrow some from JDV. 👀

Definitely. All the MAGA should adopt the look, an additional reason to dislike them.

I read a perceptive observation that many of the jobs that were off-shored some years ago to cheaper labour markets cannot be brought back on-shore... because they no longer exist.

Technology has moved on in the meantime and those jobs have now vaporised entirely.

That observation itself dates back a few years back, and I'd say we've moved on again from then.

Not only do those manufacturing jobs no longer exist anywhere in the world, but many office-based and text-based jobs have vaporised or are in the process of vaporising.

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2025 14:02

A further step to this, which has already happened, is that a huge proportion of retail jobs have also vaporised. We have replaced them with Amazon and online providers.

This concentrates wealth in the hands of the owners of Amazon et al, rather than distributing it around smaller retailers.

So for the UK, for instance, not only have we not been the workshop of the world for a century or so, but we're now no longer a nation of shopkeepers either. That part of our economy has disappeared into the hands of the tech broligarchy who are in the US.

That massive wealth the new billionaires hold hasn't been created from the ether – it's come from somewhere. And where it's come from is the rest of us.

It's nice for the US economy at a national level, although not nice for the smaller shopkeepers in the US either. But it's shit for ours.

Yes, there was a book a few years back by a NYT reporter about global supply chains and covid and the Suez Canal blockage. He followed the case study of a young entrepreneur who had a big order from Sesame Street to manufacture a Christmas toy and his efforts to get it made in the US. He eventually learned that it was basically impossible as the infrastructure to do it in a way that was even remotely economically feasible no longer exists. He had to have it made in China and then it got massively held up in transit.

And of course MAGA and their voters are against any green tech and industry that could create forward looking growth and new skills and jobs. Always vote for the guy who's promising to send your kids back down the coal mine...

The Caribbean Killings Were Unnecessary. Trump Just Proved It.
If we can seize an oil tanker, why did eighty people have to die?

We Didn’t Have to Kill Any of Them
by William Kristol
Yesterday the Trump administration released a new video of the U.S. military engaging a vessel off the coast of Venezuela. It wasn’t footage of the September 2 killing of two shipwrecked survivors of a missile attack on an alleged drug-smuggling boat.¹ It was of a new military action in support of U.S. law enforcement agencies: seizing an oil tanker involved in illicit activities. This action was apparently taken pursuant to a warrant issued by a federal judge, as the ship had been put under sanctions by the Treasury Department in 2022 for illegal activities linked to the smuggling of Iranian oil.

Many questions remain about the operation and its justification, and the government should provide clear answers to them. Still, here’s what we’ve been reminded of by yesterday’s action: The U.S. government has the ability to seize boats, sailors, and cargo without killing anyone. The Coast Guard does this routinely and has for years. The military is able to coordinate with and support law enforcement in such efforts. Steps can be taken ahead of time to ensure such efforts are legal.

But the Trump administration has chosen to do none of these things as, over the past three months, it has conducted strikes against at least 22 vessels, killing more than 80 helpless civilians. The administration has provided no evidence to support its claims about the boats and those aboard, and in fact, the original rationale that they were smuggling fentanyl to the United States seems to have been abandoned.

What’s more, the administration has chosen in one case to kill shipwrecked survivors and to try to cover up the fact there were such survivors, and in another instance to return survivors to their home countries rather than risking legal proceedings in the United States that might force the administration to provide a justification for its actions.
And now the administration is stonewalling on releasing the full video of the September 2 strike, despite President Trump’s statement last week he’d be happy to do so. House Intelligence Committee chair and Trump ally Rep. Rick Crawford—installed in that position at the beginning of this year in place of the independent-minded Rep. Mike Turner to ensure congressional acquiescence rather than oversight—said yesterday that he doesn’t want video of the second strike released. His rationale? “What the trained eye can detect from these videos may reveal sources and methods that would imperil troops.” This is implausible on its face. But it becomes a risible excuse for a cover-up when one recalls that the administration was perfectly happy to release the first part of the September 2 video—and then many subsequent videos—for “trained eyes” to inspect.
As Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) noted, “This administration, since they started striking these boats illegally, has been very happy to show their snuff films every time they took out one of these boats. Now suddenly they’re willing to show the first hit but not the second. Why is that?”
We know why. The second strike in particular is horrifying and indefensible.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is bored by the whole matter. He was asked yesterday, “Has Hegseth told you why he hasn’t released the video of the second strike?” His answer: “No, he hasn’t told me. I thought that issue was dead.”
No, that issue isn’t dead. But more than 80 people are dead. Their deaths seem to have been unnecessary, unjustified, and unlawful. President Trump may not care. We should.
