Who is rich in this scenario?

Not asylum seekers.
Billionaires who are hoovering up all the money.

Couldn't agree more.
Not helped by the fact that the BBC coverage is laughably bad at the moment.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/11/2025 10:43

And it's started.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/11/2025 10:47

So British born, British citizens and not currently believed to be terrorist related.

Two patients sadly remain in a life-threatening condition.

Which leads to this.

In Drogheda, fireworks thrown at an asylum accommodation centre resulted in a fire, with four children including in infant needing hospital care. 28 people resided in the hotel. In addition to arson, Garda is looking at attempted murder charges - which we had been calling for in the North

Yep, if you can (quite rightly) be prosecuted for saying you don’t care if asylum seeker accomodation can be set on fire then actually setting it on fire should carry a very heavy penalty.

Saucery · 02/11/2025 10:52

Bluefaced Leicesters are just about my favourite sheep. Their wool is so versatile!

Tea..but later..sheep's out the paddock

Evenstar · 02/11/2025 10:58

@DuncinToffee that is absolutely shocking about the asylum hostel, I hope they are caught and punished with the maximum prison sentences allowed. People need to understand that hate speech and hateful actions have consequences.

PandoraSocks · 02/11/2025 11:01

Well at least the hotel shouters can't use the awful train stabbings as an excuse. A small mercy.

British Transport Police

"At this stage would not be appropriate to speculate on the motivations of this incident."

What if thread on MN is allowed to stand, I did report it but what's the point.

They mean they aren't going to speculate. It seems the rest of the world can knock one themselves out

bombastix · 02/11/2025 11:16

Carefully done by the police.

I don’t really want to call this knife crime, because it isn’t.

People who carry large knives know they are breaking the law unless they have a serious mental illness. Even our mandatory sentences are not applied. I think they should be, because largely the effort to dissuade people from carrying has failed. These are people who aren’t ill.

It hits home - a few years ago I was approached by a man with a large knife in a playground. He was a schizophrenic. The police tasered him. It took a very long time for them to come. I will remember it all my life as the children and parents ran away screaming. I will not forget warning a man not come in and he said, this is my son.

I hope the victims recover. It will stay with them for a long time.

SerendipityJane · 02/11/2025 11:21

In which case they aren't mandatory. Sophism at it's finest.

PandoraSocks · 02/11/2025 11:22

There are kids taking knives to school. It is tragic.
