Home bargains hell.

Just visited Home Bargains for the first time. What a horrible shop. Full of the great unwashed and plastic tat! People standing around talking, you can’t get past them. The queuing system is mad! Everyone stands up one aisle and then goes to a till when it’s free. What wrong with queuing normally behind each individual till.
You may save a few pence but you’ll loose your sanity!

Do they have them in London? Never seen them near us! Never been in one.... they sound fun.

How awful for you to have been exposed to the paupers.

I am sure Harrods will welcome you with open arms.

😂😂😂😂😂

I think one queue makes much more sense as you don't get the misfortune if being stuck behind the person with a problem.

I ALWAYS get stuck behind this person in every shop I go to!

I love Home Bargains though and none of the ones I go to have a queuing system with one queue like people are describing here. Maybe they should...

Ooh OP, you won't like St George's Retail Park in Leicester. HB, B&M, Iceland Warehouse, Aldi, Card Factory and One Below.

BashfulClam · 29/10/2025 16:00

I like Home Bargains it has great cleaning stuff and snacks. Ours is nice though as it’s across the road from a Waitrose.

Massive one at Greenwich Peninsula 🙂

Home bargains is bloody great ! you don't know what you're missing .
My one is obviously in a better league than yours as it doesn't have the issues you describe , other than people standing to talk , then again i assume people do such things in Harrods and the like.

I’m working class and regularly shop in B&Ms. I do, however, know the difference between lose and loose.

Even based on this limited thread I’d rather hang out with you than the op any day lol

PerkyCyanPoet · 29/10/2025 16:02

See I love browsing B&M and I LOVE The Range but Home Bargains doesn’t do it for me. I don’t know why.

ThatPoliteGreenKoala · 29/10/2025 16:03

Haha, sounds chaotic! I’ve been there too you do save a few pounds, but the crowds and weird queuing can definitely test your patience.

2 miles away

And I see the milk is Wiseman's !

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 29/10/2025 16:05

Anyone who thinks that it's only the working classes who are unwashed obviously doesn't spend much time with public school educated poshos. I've met some proper soap dodgers from that tier of society.

Shegotanology · 29/10/2025 16:07

I hate shopping anywhere, as you have to deal with people. Thank god for the internet.

ShortColdandGrey · 29/10/2025 16:08

Bloody hell you sound like a complete nob 😆 You better hope that none of your friends and family can smell the mank on you. My local home bargains is lovely with plenty of room with none of the great unwashed blocking the aisles.

Outside9 · 29/10/2025 16:10

I love my local HB. Convenient. Didn't need to keep my Costco card anymore.

AInightingale · 29/10/2025 16:11

It's what it says on the sign. Home bargains. So, a shop you go to every 4-6 weeks for the purpose of buying cheaper teabags, ketchup, batteries, catfood, envelopes, pencils, showergel and whatever else you need. I don't see what the other customers have to do with the experience at all.
Large families milling aimlessly about in shops are a bugbear of mine too though, but it's half term after all. If you want empty shops you have to choose your times more carefully. Nine o'clock on a Monday morning, seven thirty on a Tuesday evening, times like that.

Alittlefrustrated · 29/10/2025 16:12

Are you in a particularly rough area OP?

myheadsjustmush · 29/10/2025 16:12

Oh my goodness you poor thing.

Pour yourself a G & T and book in to see your therapist asap. Please don't try to deal with this dreadful experience alone.

And stick to Waitrose in future.

Funnywonder · 29/10/2025 16:14

Don’t bite. That’s what the OP wants. Fucking wind up merchant🙄

LousyGolfer · 29/10/2025 16:16

The one and only time I went to Home Bargains, I was racially abused by a white man. I’m white.

It was very, very odd. Can’t blame the shop, but that’s what I immediately think of when someone mentions Home Bargains!

mangoandmelonsmoothie · 29/10/2025 16:17

Hello @RubynRita.
You have a cafe? In Home Bargains?
There’s no bloody cafe in our local store.
I’ll have to write to Tommy about this, ask him what he thinks he’s playing at building a COLOSSAL warehouse at the side of the M62 rather than a cafe in our naice store.

Needmorelego · 29/10/2025 16:17

It's hilarious because on the rare occasion I go to John Lewis or Selfridges in Oxford Street they are always FULL of people just mooching around and getting in the way.
You have to weave your way around confusing sales stands to actually get into the store. By the time you find what department you want you're exhausted.
Then you have to find the exit....
Home Bargains on the other hand....
One door in.
Aisles in straight lines.
Up and down you go.
Queue and pay.
One door out.
So easy.
I know which one I prefer 😂😂

ilovepixie · 29/10/2025 16:18

Lidl is the same. No Aldi here to compare. B&M is slightly better. By the way it’s all slightly tongue in cheek people!
