Home bargains hell.

Just visited Home Bargains for the first time. What a horrible shop. Full of the great unwashed and plastic tat! People standing around talking, you can’t get past them. The queuing system is mad! Everyone stands up one aisle and then goes to a till when it’s free. What wrong with queuing normally behind each individual till.
You may save a few pence but you’ll loose your sanity!

Home Bargains Bullying Staff

My Partner returned home yesterday in floods of tears after a visit to the Home Bargains in Llandudno.

She was treated like a thief for using a shopping bag, whilst pushing our newborn around in a Doona. The pop up pram does not have a basket underneath.

For two months she has used a shopping bag avoid pushing any heavy weight, post c-section. If life isn't hard enough post surgery, baby blues, new baby in tow and being sleep deprived.

A bonnie women with bright pink hair, tattoos and various piercings decided to put my wife down even further. Telling her off at the till, degrading in front of other customers and taking pride in doing it.

Shame on Home bargains for employing such a degrading creature.

No one deserves to be bullied at the till.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a complete opposite experience at home bargains during covid. I didn't want to touch a basket so I went along putting all my items in a bag for life and took them all out at the till and the cashier said nothing of it at all. The other people in line were staring at me though. I'm sorry for your partner that sounds bad

It's a difficult one as they do have to watch for shoplifters, but this woman sounds horrible, just saying 'we'd prefer you to use a basket for security reasons but understand how difficult it is with a baby' would have sufficed. A nasty POW her head turned with a bit of power. I'm sorry your wife had that experience. A soft basket such as those Primark use, which can be hung on a pram handle, would be a better idea, but hardly any other stores provide those.

I always find both HB and B&M difficult to get out of if I haven’t actually bought anything. You can only squeeze out past people paying or have to go all the way back to the entrance which can be a hike. All the unused tills are blocked off so you can’t walk through.

Not sure if that is all of them or just my local
ones though.

Yes it seems to be all of them. LIDL is the same - they're so mean they only have about 2 tills open, and the queues can be so horrific that sometimes I change my mind and put stuff back, but it's impossible to get out!

It’s to stop shoplifters, they are all starting to use the one way barriers on the entrance as well, Sainsburys, Iceland. And then having to scan your receipt to get out of the self checkouts. Sainsburys have a little exit barrier in front of the customer service desk.

I’m working class and regularly shop in B&Ms. I do, however, know the difference between lose and loose.

🤣

Sorry your wife experienced this, but it is asking for trouble using your own bag, as people will assume you are shoplifting. I saw a shopper in Lidl asked to empty his rucksack at the till- he WAS shoplifting . He had a few items in his hand but his rucksack was stuffed with stuff he had stolen.
