What!!! Is this true? Who will take over? I'm shocked!

Good, about time!
We need new talent, bored of the same presenters taking over all the shows for 10+ years. They've amassed enough money, let younger people have a go!

You don't see Tess Daly on anything else.

Mel and Sue. That’s all I will accept.

No! Please God no!

Get that it's not many people's cup of tea but it's interesting that people are saying should be axed, my understanding is it still brings in some of the highest viewing figures for terrestrial TV - which yes itself is a dying medium but whilst it's around I don't see Strictly being scrapped.

In terms of presenters I like the idea of Rylan in Tess role, not sure who would do the Claudia role but neither are particularly difficult roles and could easily be filled and will very quickly adjust to the a new pairing. Agree Tess is crap and can't see her getting much work after this.

You'd expect it to bring in high figures because it is on on a Saturday night. If it wasn't really highly viewed it would be axed.

It's not just about the viewing figures, it's about the total cost as well. No point having good figures if it is swallowing up half the bbcs budget.

The lawyers and investigations alone are probably costing them a fortune at the moment, and the show probably isn't that cheap to produce hauling all that stuff up to Blackpool.

Maybe they could do something that would pull similar viewing figures in at half the cost.

StrawberryJangle · 23/10/2025 12:00

I grown to love Claudia, she is so quick witted and hilarious. This will be more of a blow to Tess than her as Tess has nothing else going on.

Please not Alison Hammond... Loved her, bored of her. Over exposure.

I would have said Anton, but I enjoy him in the role of judge.

Let's face it, Tess didn't bring anything to the show other than Bruce's dolly bird. Claudia did. Whoever replaces Tess doesn't need much more than wooden, but whoever replaces Claudia needs a personality at least.

And she might find it hard getting another gig. She’s not a natural in front of the camera, which is weird seeing how long she’s been doing it. Claudia is a total natural.

Mindgoneblankagain · 23/10/2025 10:37

I vote for Alison Hammond and Gethin Jones. Both previous contestants and very popular. Alison would fill Claudia's shoes with ease and Gethin would be a massive improvement on Tess

Please not Alison Hammond...I think she's awful - and everywhere for some unfathomable reason! I quite like the idea of Gethin and Janette. Not a fan of Fleur either, although I really wanted to like her.

So glad wooden, patronising Tess is going but I love Claud 😢

However, it's definitely weird timing and tbh, I feel it's outlived its purpose as Saturday night entertainment now, so wouldn't really miss it if it went.

SparklyGlitterballs · 23/10/2025 12:04

Strictly has had its day. I think it's time to call it quits now, unless it has a major revamp. The "celebs" are getting more and more down towards "Z" list, and it frustrates me that people vote on personality (or sob story) rather than skill. We've had years of rubbish dancers being kept in week after week while the good or most improved ones get voted off. The "pretend" results show, with the results always getting leaked early, is also annoying.

Superhansrantowindsor · 23/10/2025 12:05

Yes - time to retire it. Perhaps just have a Christmas special. End now before it gets too flat.

OhLordy123 · 23/10/2025 12:06

So many negative comments! It’s a world wide success so I doubt it would be axed. Correct choice of new presenters is essential tho. Hannah W and Ellie T good shouts!

Shadesofscarlett · 23/10/2025 12:09

i think the show has been dead in the water for a while, and really needs to retire gracefully and exit stage left. or is it going to go to ch 4 like bake off and limp on.

I actually loath the Christmas Special

Going against the tide but I’d love Alison Hammond to do it. I find her so joyful and uplifting.

NewAgeNewMe · 23/10/2025 12:10

Hannah W is inspired. I stopped watching Bake Off when it moved to Channel 4.

QueenStevie · 23/10/2025 12:13

Love Claudia. I really don't want Rylan. I used to live him but gone right off him since the whole migrant comments on This Morning thing.

I will not miss Tess' asymmetrical dresses. I really hate asymmetrical clothes and she does seem to love them.

TheHillIsMine · 23/10/2025 12:13

I am thrilled that Tess is leaving but gutted about Claudia going.

In the video, Tess is much more natural even if she is talking bollocks, than when she's on TV. She can't ad lib.

Winterlight · 23/10/2025 12:13

Hannah Waddingham would be great I think.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 23/10/2025 12:14

You need someone calm to cancel out all the screeching and mugging to the camera in the (ex) Claudatorium. Clive Myrie?

TeachMeSomething · 23/10/2025 12:15

Not Janette or Fleur, please. Always liked Zoe Ball on It Takes Two.

Citrusbergamia · 23/10/2025 12:17

BatchCookBabe · 23/10/2025 10:40

Not sure Alison would be a popular choice, as she's everywhere now, and some people are a bit tired of seeing her. I think she's fine, but she does seem to be everywhere.

oh god please not Alison. Am I the only one who finds her really irritating?!

user1471538275 · 23/10/2025 12:22

Let's have 'The people's strictly' back - normal people apply to be on the show who want to have a go at dancing.

No preconceptions, no fan bases, just normal people who are trying to learn to dance.

The producers will of course pick the best 'stories' but it's a format that works for other shows - Bake off, SAS etc with normal people.

Shorten it, bin the results show and dance off (it makes no difference - the judges don't decide based on it).

Bring back an even split of men and women - not 6 women 9 men as this series has.

threescoops · 23/10/2025 12:27

OhLordy123 · 23/10/2025 10:32

Who would be good replacements? Cant think of anyone atm!!!

As it's the BBC they've probably got a Drag Queen lined up, they like to crowbar one in at every opportunity

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 23/10/2025 12:28

Claudia probably has a big money contract with Traitors now but not sure Tess has anything else, would be difficult to separate her from Strictly now (plus she was lucky to get that right at the start lets be honest)
I think ex pro dancers as presenters is a good idea, it keeps the familiarity and strictlyness. Oti Mabuse and Janette perhaps?
Nevertheless, I do feel its days are numbered, and if it isn't cancelled will be 'rested' for a few years at some point.

nothingtoseehereatall · 23/10/2025 12:30

5 to 6 million viewers every week, sure, it's time to axe it... honestly I don't understand how the BBC can ever win with people.

hopelessbusiness · 23/10/2025 12:30

I think they've realised it's past it's best and is on it's way out...shame as I'm a massive fan and have watched every series bar this one. Can't put my finger on exactly what's changed but this year I'm just not interested.
Miss the Brendan/James/Vincent heyday I guess...

Silverbirchleaf · 23/10/2025 12:32

Another vote for Zoe Ball.

Zoe and Gethin?
