What!!! Is this true? Who will take over? I'm shocked!

i love Claudia. I also love how Tess panics and freezes every time Claudia ad libs.

I do like having two women as presenters, but I wouldn’t mind Graham Norton replacing Claudia.

Have you ever watched anything on television?! 😆

Yes, the moon landings. Or did I, or anyone else? They might have been a hoax!

MrsLizzieDarcy · 23/10/2025 11:18

Not a moment too soon. It's needed putting out of its misery for years now - just like X Factor which at least Simon Cowell had the decency to do.

Too many Z listers and reality stars, too many woke celebs and I personally stopped watching the moment they paired same sex couples. Who cares if it's politically correct, 2 women or 2 men dancing together looks bloody ridiculous. It's an "entertainment" show ffs, not a political broadcast.

Poppy61 · 23/10/2025 11:20

Zoe Ball and Rylan.

The presenters are important! How could they not be?

I'll take your word about presenter importance then as I can't speak from a viewer's perspective. Who do you think would be up to the job?

TheKeeperofBooks · 23/10/2025 11:20

How will i get through to Christmas without Strictly.....but maybe this is precursor to axing it

It's got sooo shit

MaplePumpkin · 23/10/2025 11:21

Someone upthread suggested Jeanette and Aljaz, my boyfriend and I also speculated this earlier! I don’t watch It Takes Two so haven’t seen Janette present, but I imagine Aljaz would be funny and bring some enthusiasm and energy. Not sure he’d be ready to give up dancing yet though?
I don’t mind Alison Hammond but don’t fancy her for strictly, she is a bit much.
Intrigued to see who it will be, and when we’ll find out!

I also agree that I don’t think this was the planned time to announce it, it seems too random. I bet they wanted to do it near the end but a journalist has threatened to leak, so they’ve jumped in and done it themselves.

Having thought about it I will go with Vernon..I do like him!

Alexander Armstrong to replace Tess and Ellie Taylor for Claudia's role.

NewAgeNewMe · 23/10/2025 11:23

Just said on the strictly threads, it’s a prime time flagship show with two female presenters. I’m sad to see them go for that. But something is definitely ‘up’.

Mindgoneblankagain · 23/10/2025 10:37

I vote for Alison Hammond and Gethin Jones. Both previous contestants and very popular. Alison would fill Claudia's shoes with ease and Gethin would be a massive improvement on Tess

Oh god, no! Please not Alison Hammond!

HideousKinky · 23/10/2025 11:23

I think the show has had its day - it is tired and tedious.
I imagine it won't last much longer

Ohh yes ..I quite have a thing for Alexander Armstrong!

What about AJ Odudu?

She's got lots of live TV experience and was a fab contestant too.

Although I can definitely see Alison Hammond doing it.

What about Alan Carr? He would be hilarious.

I wonder if they'll have a man? Just please not Ben Shepherd...

GasPanic · 23/10/2025 11:24

It's been dying for a long time. Each series trying to out woke the next, with the woke-est candidate winning. This is pretty much the same way Big Brother went to the dogs.

Contestants that have obvious prior dance training being included.

Scandal after scandal. Which some people might argue is pretty much inevitable given the nature of the training.

I think they realise it's time has come and have decided to get out rather than stick with the sinking ship. My guess is that their wages are strongly limited on the BBC as well.

It needs a reformat to bring it back to something that the public can identify with. I have a few ideas.

Bill Bailey was the last time I watched it properly too. I tried to last year but got bored within an hour. Not bothered at all this year.

I could have written this.

ChatHeeBeeGez6298 · 23/10/2025 11:25

I think it’s a bit of a dead duck now! Time to wind the whole thing down.

Surely the BBC have the nouse and creativity to fill the prime Saturday night slot with something different now? Strictly has had a really great run. But it’s time for a change!

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 23/10/2025 11:26

I suspect they were contractually bound to do this season so even if with controversies earlier in the year meant they wanted to go, they couldn't. The flak Tess gets is undeserved. People preferred her to Bruce when she was in the role Claudia now has! Short memories.

spring12365 · 23/10/2025 11:26

There were rumours after Claudia presented the Graham Norton Show that she would be offered her own as bosses were so impressed - perhaps that is why she is leaving SCD?

It's one of the most popular programmes on TV!

DoraChance · 23/10/2025 11:26

The BBC won’t get rid of it. Look at Masterchef or The Apprentice - these shows just keep going on and on and on and on and on and on…

They don't cost that much money though.

And the scandal factor should be less (at least in theory).

BeerOrStout · 23/10/2025 11:28

I think the programme needs to go.

I watched it years ago when the 'celebs' were recognisable but now I don't know who most of them are.

The prog has become stale, there's been a lot of controversy- some true, some not - but it's ready to be culled.

tanqueray10 · 23/10/2025 11:28

How about Hannah Waddingham. Could see her in the role if she’d want it !!
Agree that Alan Carr would be a hoot . Loving him on Traitors - haven’t enjoyed him on
anything previously
