Things I don’t do…that apparently everyone else DOES do…

Tonight I put some Nivea on my face but apart from taking my makeup off each day, I don’t have a skin care routine and I don’t use moisturiser that often.

Other things I don’t do…I don’t make the bed every day (might straighten it, but that’s it), I don’t keep takeaway boxes (does anyone?) and I don’t send Christmas cards (never miss a birthday though).

What things do you not do…that most other people seem to do? This is a ‘no judgement’ thread. 😆

And I don't get takeaways. Ocassionally go to a restaurant (either for a special occasion or because we are away from home eg up in London for another reason) but otherwise always cook. If feeling lazy we have frozen pizza/chips/chicken steaks to chuck in the oven etc so never feel the need to order takeaway.

I don't iron.
I don't wear jeans.
I don't socialise, because I don't want to.
If it weren't for living with other people, I wouldn't watch or own a tv. It's on. I sometimes get sucked in. But I wouldn't miss it.

I don't have an Alexa
I don't have a Ring doorbell
I don't like gin and tonics
I never read or listen to the news

I definitely drink too much wine
I eat too much crap (probably because of the above)
I watch too many home renovation / relocation programmes.

My DP doesn’t smell either. He never wears deodorant and never smells of BO!

I've had a big career in beauty but there's lots I don't do. No wrinkles on my face at 60.

No night cream
Neck cream or eyecream
I don't have fillers or botox
I don't have facials
I hate gel on my fingers
I don't have eyebrow enhancement
No tattoos
I don't wax anymore
I don't use body lotion ever

I don't watch celeb tv
I gave up strictly this year in protest
I don't tell people what we earn
I've voted Labour once
I don't buy plastic clothes

I can't kill spiders
I believe in ghosts

Clearly not wearing make up isn’t all that unique or unusual

Crikey, to quote a post I read recently, “Nobody's awarding prizes for self-denial, you're not in a monastery.” I‘m shocked at people not listening to music. It’s my most uplifting form of comfort and
joy. The puritans still walk amongst us eh.

I don't wear make up, except about twice a year I might put on concealer if I get a huge red spot or something.
I have no piercings, not even my ears. I have no tattoos. I've never coloured my hair.
I mostly don't use social media and haven't posted anything on it for 7 or 8 years. I have FB to keep up with what some family members are up to.
I love music but I have never used spotify. I still download music, and I when out and about I use an ancient and tiny mp3 player that still works. Much better than running my phone battery down.

Almost every woman I know gets their nails done regularly and buys a new dress for every event. I have never done that.

Mine is books. Almost like everyone is different 🙃

Some people find it jangles their brain, a sensory issue. I do like music sometimes but if I'm stressed or worried I need silence. It's not because I'm joyless

I have a TV in my living room but I suspect that when I eventually move out of my current living situation I won't bother. I don't have a TV in my bedroom which seems unusual these days. My daughter does but I don't!

We don't get takeaways, but everyone on MN seems to think it's a massive treat. My teenagers just make an omelette if home alone, they'd never think of ordering in food.
We've also never had anything delivered by a man on a scooter, which are all over the place where we live.

Whereas in my wide experience of women (have moved around a lot, so have friends and acquaintances in lots of countries), very few have their nails done regularly. For a special occasion, maybe. And if they already own something suitable, probably not buy a new outfit for an event.

Don't use Amazon, table salt or an iron.

Making oneself attractive, whether make up, clothes, jewellery whatever, isn't necessarily to instigate sex, and it is possible to be attractive without make up......!

You’re certainly not unusual within the Mn cohort in most of that. Having no friends, hating holidays, not ironing, not drinking caffeinated hot drinks, not wearing makeup are pretty much the norm on here.

OP you can use the plastic takeaway boxes in the freezer I do it all the time and also fine in microwave for a few shots

Never had a manicure, pedicure, bikini wax or tattoo.

Don’t do elf of the shelf
Don’t do baking
Don’t do selfies
Don’t do Primark
Don’t have flavoured coffees

I've never had a takeaway and don't want one!
I don't drink coffee, juice or squash
I don't have pierced ears and wish you could buy more clip-on earrings
I don't own a microwave
I hate pasta
I have zero interest in celebrities or influencers or whatever they are called
I hate the Simpsons
I dislike swearing very much
I don't like the colour grey for anything - clothes, paint, furniture, carpets

BUT I never leave the house in the morning without making the bed - drummed into me as a child that you don't go out leaving it unmade

In my own experience, it's (straight) women who like to imagine that women must wear make up in order to have a sex life, while the men concerned generally don't care whether you've made up your face or not. A lot of men can't even tell if a woman is wearing make up.

Try it one day. Go make up less. It's not so scary.

I've never had or worn false eyelashes or false nails/gel nails/whatever the talons are. I'm astounded by the amount of people who do!

I've never had a bikini wax, just do it myself with hair removal cream.

I've never had my hair dyed in a salon.

I do moisturise my face day and night, all body when I shower. I do keep take away boxes and make stock from bones. I do watch some tv and listen to podcasts.

I dont get my car valeted or washed (you can tell!). I do clean my leather shoes every week.
