What was your ludicrous Lockdown purchase?

Mine was a £1000 mini trampoline. I think I've probably used it about 30 times altogether! To be fair it is top quality and lots of fun when I can be bothered to use it. I don't regret it.

What about you?

Kitchenaid.
Lego. A lot.
Puppy/Ddog.

No regrets about any of them tbh!

Plinketyplonks · 22/10/2025 16:39

Kittens!

You sewing/embroidery machine buyers - regrets, or have they had lots of good use?

This thread has just reminded me that I bought a lockdown sewing machine. I did a few test squares, messing about with different stitches, etc. Found anything more than that all too difficult so never got the oomph to progress.
Don't even know where it is now! Probably in my garage where all my other short lived passion projects go to die.

Errolwasahero · 22/10/2025 16:50

Another one who got a horse in between lockdowns. I’d just retired my old girl so it was great timing!

A goat yoga kit, complete with inflatable goat…

I have to ask…

NotbloodyGivingupYet · 22/10/2025 16:57

I very much regret my DH buying hair clippers because he still uses them. I'm considering sabotaging them so he has to go for a proper haircut.
Can't stop laughing at the cat and the inflatable hot tub 😂

Nothing really crazy, but I did buy shed loads of hand sanitiser that we are still working our way through, lol.

We also massively overestimated how much hand-wash and hand sanitizer two people can use. Especially when one of those people only left the house to walk round the village and the other worked for the NHS and had all the sanitizer they could possibly need.

We only used up the Carex stash this year.

AnneElliotsBestFriend · 22/10/2025 17:00

My purple Everhot which arrived 2 days before lockdown.

petermaddog · 22/10/2025 17:02

notice hand santizer dies after 2.5 years🖐

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/10/2025 17:03

Ooh, @AnneElliotsBestFriend, I didn’t know what a purple Everhot was so I googled - and now I really want one!

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 22/10/2025 17:20

Also got a cat - an ex feral that wasn't thriving in the wild. She's sweet but still keeps her distance (although has totally bonded with one of our other cats and is always snuggling with her).

Another one who got hair clippers - but they were needed at the time.

Various educational resources to support the DC's home learning. Which I may as well not have bothered with.

Ponderingwindow · 22/10/2025 17:22

Movie theater style recliners. Absolutely no regrets. Use them all the time.

An Arabian Mau cat.

My old cat died, everyone had gone animal crackers, no rescue kittens anywhere.

Ended up with a mad street cat from Dubai who gave me a serious bite wound (and subsequently penicillin allergy) on day 2.

He's my baby now but honestly I'd lost the plot.

Similar for me, couldn't find a Rescue kitten within 100 mile radius. Ended up paying around £1K for a posh Ragdoll kitten.

Totally gorgeous but up until then, all my pets have been rescues as that was kind of my ethos.

HelpMeGetThrough · 22/10/2025 17:30

45,456789,12345 rolls of toilet paper.

I had the trots.

Two weeks after the beast from Dubai arrived, someone at work offered me two kittens for a fiver 😂

Spent £800 on a sewing machine and have used it tons and for all sorts of things - great buy!

BettysRoasties · 22/10/2025 17:42

We moved house. Lock down showed we needed more space and more land. Lots of flour though did use it all as we make our own dough for pizzas and make bread.

Nothing too outrageous though apart from the move I guess. Did build an entire bar down the bottom of the garden.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 22/10/2025 18:07

Ridiculous numbers of pairs of Irregular Choice shoes from various Facebook groups. I then broke my ankle and couldn’t wear any of them. They’re still sitting in the wardrobe as post-lockdown they’re worth about £10 a pair 😕

Arraminta · 22/10/2025 18:11

DH bought a bloody Nordic Track bloody exercise bloody bike. It was the size of a small car and he never even plugged the bloody thing in, let alone actually use it! It just sat in the study quietly gathering dust.

Many, many heated words were had. Many.

Pretty sure they have shut down now so may find they are worth a bit more.

dynamiccactus · 22/10/2025 18:33

A bike turbotrainer. I bought it the weekend before the first lockdown did get a lot of use out of it for two years but haven't used it since about April 2022!

It cost £700.

ohyesido · 22/10/2025 18:44

A conure parrot. He hates me but I love him

Feelinguselesssigh · 22/10/2025 18:54

@SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter we got a mini trampoline too, a bargain at £300 but it is still used.

what make is yours? Ours I have to keep buying new bungees and mats. I want a better one….

Hoodlumboodlum · 22/10/2025 18:56

Ballet shoes. I don't do ballet and never have.
