Understanding Sarah Ferguson’s loans

violetpink · 19/10/2025 20:27

Why did she have to borrow money from Epstein, and others I believe?
Andrew is super wealthy and I’m sure she’s made money from her Duchess title, such as talk shows and products she’s endorsed.
i just can’t understand her loans. And why anyone would give her one. And why she has debt.
Hopefully some of you know why.
She lives freely with Andrew so no overheads there. Surely it’s a great no no to borrow money from friends.

No, that doesn't mean he's entitled to millions of tax payers money for life on top of what he already has which is a substantial fortune.

I think it does. If it's good enough for the rest of the freeloaders - especially the Wicked Stepmother - it's good enough for 'H'!

I think you’ll find that Andrew has a long lease on Royal Lodge and the annual ‘rent’ is quite considerable, and questions have been asked on how he affords it, along with the associated costs for the upkeep of the large estate/grounds. It’s certainly not a ‘peppercorn rent’.

The Times today says different 😬

ShenandoahRiver · 21/10/2025 12:04

He hasn’t paid rent for 2 decades???
Seriously ??
So he paid £1m for the lease in 2003 and that runs out in 2078. He paid £7.5m for refurbishments so he is deemed to have paid the rent upfront.
75 year lease at £200000 per annum comes to £15,000,000. Is the balance outstanding ever going to be paid?
Yet more creative accounting from the RF to favour their own - at taxpayer’s expense.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/10/2025 12:07

@charliehungerford wasn’t it the case a pretty large lump sum was paid up front ( like a couple of million) and then no rent due?

I'm not sure why people are shocked by this. Did people really think...???

Yes, I’ve just read that, it all looks rather fishy!

ShenandoahRiver · 21/10/2025 13:23

@YourBrickTiger
Not surprised at all. Just amazed that it is all coming to light now. Better late than never I suppose.

She's just sold the London mews house she bought a couple of years or so ago as an 'investment' at a £400k loss.

That kind of deal may give some insight into her relationship with money.

Interesting, her daughters' own that house. I watched a programme on the Royals'money recently.

Yes.

This is why I've said I'd be interested to see the finer details of Ed's deal on Bagshot Park. Another sprawling pile (120 rooms!) leased by someone with no obvious means of financing it yet who managed to find £1.5 m to renovate, splitting the cost with the Crown Estate natch and later a further £5m to extend the lease to 150 years.

He's reported as paying £90k a year rent and interestingly the lease allows for subletting the office block (previously Ardent's base). Said office block has previously been on the market at £11k a month which would cover the annual 'rent' and leave a nice little something over.

See also the deal Harold struck over Frognore whereby the refurb costs were repaid and then subsequently miraculously found to have also covered eighteen months rent without increasing while releasing the Sussexes from any further rent due. Saved them some £700k IIRC.

They are all at it 😡

I'm sure I read somewhere that at least one of the daughters were named on the deeds so Ferg couldn't sell it over their heads which would mean they were party to the sale too.

Leedsfan247 · 21/10/2025 18:08

Her overheads are massive - staff and travel in particular

canklesmctacotits · 21/10/2025 18:23

The real question is WHY anyone advanced her loans? What did she give them in return? I'm pretty sure it was Andrew "helping" these people out. That's why they stuck together all these years: Bonnie and Clyde, robbing and running.

If someone wrote a thread about a single mum of two called Sarah Ferguson, tapping up the taxpayer for benefits, begging/borrowing/stealing from friends and neighbours and never paying them back, swindling, grifting, lying about it all, being declared bankfupt and starting all over again, consorting with the types we know she now kissed the arse of - we can all imagine the drubbing she'd get. If it then then came to light what she spent that money on - this website would collapse under the onlslaught.

They're nasty people, both of them.

Motnight · 21/10/2025 18:26

@canklesmctacotits access to Prince Andrew? Though not sure who would want it or why 😬

Pedallleur · 21/10/2025 18:28

Different world. Money buys access or publicity. No such thing as a free lunch though unless the taxpayer is footing the bill

Maybe they’re paying not to have access to him? Like the world’s weirdest protection racket

violetpink · 21/10/2025 20:01

Exactly my thoughts. @cankles
Thank you for summarizing how I feel.
It is all so trashy and Jeremy Kyle-esque.

I don't think this thread is in good taste, TBH, despite my joining it.

My opinion is she's a disturbed woman, not the brightest, got herself into lots of pickles, she's had cancer twice and will be monitored for life on it, so I think some 'slack' is allowed, although her loyalty to Andrew is questionable.

Edited

For breast cancer you are not monitored for life. Five years and then the mammogram schedule every woman has.

Pedallleur · 21/10/2025 20:58

But she was spending like a sailor long before she got ill. The money, the stories are all on her and her ex(?) husband

I never understood why it was such a fuss about Harry and his house, when Edward, Andrew and Anne all have massive houses with no visible income.

None of them are any better than each other - exactly how many forever homes does William have now?

CathyorClaire · 21/10/2025 21:27

exactly how many forever homes does William have now?

Two at the last count with the second coming occupation now leading to compulsorily evicting tenants in good standing in the interests of imposing an exclusion zone around the latest.

ShenandoahRiver · 21/10/2025 22:00

Anne was gifted Gatcombe Park by QE2 in 1976 when she got married.
Both her children live on the estate.
Have they paid rent? Did Anne have to pay any tax when she got it? Who will get it when she dies? Are they all living for free?

Indeed. No wonder Harry felt aggrieved, where was his free stately home + staff budget?

I find it absolutely ludicrous that the term "forever home" is bandied about with this pair and their family.

All to make them look like they're just like everyone else in the country striving to do the best for their kids and working towards what we all dream of.

What are they going to do when William's king? Stay in this latest place? Is that going to be the KW5's official home? I don't think so.

But enough people bow and scrape to this lot that it's not going to change anytime soon, even with the latest scandel with Andrew.
