They are still trying to get the fans to attend, Nandy just now in, but the anti semetic angle seems to have been deleted from many SM posts, especially when it is was aimed at Ayoub Khan.

I know it's not much in the grand scheme of expenses. But spending extra money/pooling police from other parts of the country which I assume is what the government has in mind is a completely unnecessary expense
Im fine with police resources being diverted for large protests. Even when I don't agree with the protesters (eg the SYL march). I still think it's worth it. I even, grudgingly, understand why they had to divert funds to allow Trump and Vance and Vance's while family to have their holiday here. Even though Aberdeen police warned ordinary folk should expect a 50% slower response time. Even though police forces were diverted from as far away as England. Even though Trump and Vance immediately went back to slagging of the UK on the return from their holibobs there. International relations. Whatever.

But I just do not see the urgent need for the government to provide "whatever resources it takes" for a football away team with a recent history of violent behaviour to attend a football match in this country. I doubt any European country would go to such lengths to ensure English football ultras get to see a match. I don't think Starmer would expect them to either.

I can't think who he is appealing to with this? Even people who don't care about the ME at all surely wouldn't be happy if they put all police resources into this while neighborhood crime is still on the up?

If my local authority doesn't feel it can issue a safety certificate then that should be that. This is my manor, as they say.

I don't want a friend or a loved one ending up injured or dead as collateral damage in a riot that could have been prevented.

How on earth did they come to that conclusion @LlttledrummergirI ? What was the explanation?

It's because Plaid have used the phrase nation of sanctuary- this has pissed off the far right who are listing and misinterpreting facts to get people in a froth.

Clear and concise - why is this a breath of fresh air ?

It's an image that sings of damp dark days.

And it's not refreshing.

So much time wasted on the Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans, the club has now decided not to sell tickets for the match against Aston Villa.

Maybe they can tackle the Andrew issue next.

Interesting

https://bsky.app/profile/jdportes.bsky.social/post/3m3otjmoccc2m

Interesting to compare ONS figures on public sector net debt released today (left) with those released a year ago.

Then it was 98% of GDP and rising
Now it is 95% of GDP and rising

If we carry on borrowing like this we will have paid off the debt by 2060! 😉

It's a bit like Millwall refusing to sell tickets for concern for their fans. A great way to play the victim and divert from the reality.

It has a connection to politics, because it's not unlike what Farright has done. Whip up a violent atmosphere, and then cry "it's scary out there".

Johnson is giving evidence at the Covid Inquiry today.

There’s a brilliant Facebook post by Yuliia who is quoted in that article. Hopefully you’ll be able to see it from this link:

Edit: let me know if it doesn’t work and I’ll screen shot!

Thanks @cardibach Sadly the link doesn't work so a screen shot would be handy.

Wholeheartedly agree with this - deeply cynical posturing from Hunt who knew that he was never going to be the one to have to recoup the NI cut, all £10 billion of it!

But just plain dumb for Labour to make any commitments on tax given what we knew even then about the state of finances and public services.

PandoraSocks · 21/10/2025 12:25

Was it this post, cardi? I am praying Caerphilly keeps Reform out.

Johnson just told the Inquiry that the current government debt situation was caused by the money his government spent during the pandemic.

That and the awful done deal on Brexit.

He's his usual rambling and disheveled self.
