Well, if they've got to find money to pay their taxes, they won't be able to afford to, er, sponsor lots of posters on MN...

I think it's more a case of keeping a low profile when there are awkward questions to answer.

They are also learning (slowly as you'd expect) that being in charge, and being in power are not the same thing whatsoever.

The leaked zoom call (I'm surprised with their disgust at WFH they didn't just declare it an obvious fake, as they all go to the office to work) gave some fascinating insights into the future. In particular:

Councillor Dean Burns: “Let’s face it, the situation at the moment with regards to our group is not great. You know, I’ve worked my arse off in my own portfolio, and I’m still getting a rod up my backside all the time. There is a lot of backbiting going on and that tends to be coming from the top down.

Come 2029, there will be a string of these Reform councils that have all had to act as their predecessors - rather kyboshing the idea they are in some way "different" to all the others.

PandoraSocks · 20/10/2025 12:10

I just hope the voters in Caerphilly are taking note. I will be taking a break from MN if they win (I am sure some MN Reformites would be thrilled).

Given that English Reform voters think the Welsh are furriners and would happily deport them back to Walesland, you'd have be a little bit touched to vote Reform in a Welsh election.

Still there's nowt as queer as folk.

There will be no delight on this thread. Maybe stick to it if the worst happens rather than ditching MN completely?

Donald Trump really exudes (if you'll excuse the pun) class and statesmanship.

It all feels a little bit Louis XIV, really.

It's all going swimmingly in Kent

Reform suspends councillors for bring party into 'disrepute'

Four councillors have been suspended by Reform UK.
A Reform UK spokesman said: "Cllrs Paul Thomas, Oliver Bradshaw, Bill Barrett and Maxine Fothergill have had the whip suspended pending investigation, following evidence that they brought the party into disrepute."

How awful do you have to be to bring reform into disrepute? I thought disrepute was a given the amount of ex tory MPs who had their snouts in the trough that they've welcomed.

I was told this week by a reform fan that plaid cymru, the party of Wales, hates the Welsh. Desperation from reform right there.

cardibach · 20/10/2025 14:16

How on earth did they come to that conclusion @LlttledrummergirI ? What was the explanation?

Remember that some Reformers still want us to leave the EU.

Don't call them stupid.

To be fair it comes from California.

No use to me - but I rejoice in others joy.

That has the potential to help a lot of people retain some independence.

you don’t have to try & imitate, just keep plugging/chipping away at the nonsense that was Brexit & all the nonsensical policies they dream up the lies/hateful stuff that spews out from mostly incompetent lunatics.
Call it all out at every opportunity & if I was a politician I’d be knocking at every investigative journalist door begging & pleading for them to do more digging on Farage & his many of associates who are at best dubious.
was just listening on the radio a report from a woman who has benefited from the implant beyond amazing.

The riots took place outside the stadium before the match, the game got cancelled before kick off.

I assume many supporters were already in the stadium and letting of flares.

It was a match between two Tel Aviv teams who also share the stadium.

Yes, I did know most of that (including having heard of both teams!). It's only when I got to the BBC website (who actually write clearly!) that the key words 'just before kick off ' appeared!

Thanks though. back to training school for the Sky reporter.

dontcallmelen · 20/10/2025 15:53

Piggy hope you are as ok as you can be.

Yes it's a poorly written piece

Lot of backtracking going on now in the media and on SM.
So silly of the government and other politicians to get involved.

Maybe they were stuck in vague mode?
Eg their reporting on Amsterdam included references to "racist chants" but didn't say who had been doing said racist chants.

Personally I wouldn't let the fuckers off the hook.

Refusing to issue a safety certificate for this sodding match is probably the only sensible decision Birmingham Council have taken in 25 years. It's a shame it should be overshadowed by the ignorant.

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2025 17:07

They are still trying to get the fans to attend, Nandy just now in, but the anti semetic angle seems to have been deleted from many SM posts, especially when it is was aimed at Ayoub Khan.
