Still none the wiser

Oh well, humour is subjective etc.

Oh. Are we not allowed to take the piss out of ex-MPs now?

So is that post fake @DuncinToffee ?

Worry not Derxa. Gullis has a job. I think it is telling that no one would give him a teaching job, though.

www.centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/about/fellows/jonathan-gullis

I looked on his twitter and couldn't find it, he has a different twitter handle.

I don't think he would use that picture either.

His twitter feed is awful, luckily you can't see the comments when you aren't logged in.

That picture is still funny though, oldie goldie Grin

I think our humour’s too infantile for Derxa!

Piggywaspushed · 19/10/2025 20:16

I really cannot take the CSJ seriously when they have employees who look like they have stepped out of Tory Central Office and have Cates and Gullis on their books. Single mother blaming and spotting welfare scroungers are like country sports to them. They are in complete denial about gender and race inequality to boot.

I think Gullis is often painted as being like Lee Anderson. He isn't at all. He had a privileged upbringing.

Yet you manage to read the words in other posts 🤷‍♀️

But he hasn’t been employed by a school. Read his wiki. There’s being critical and just being plain nasty.

Eh?

Deleted because I wrote a sarcastic comment and realised it could be misinterpreted.

persephonia · 20/10/2025 00:17

Doesn't this make Starmer (and all the other politicians/pundits decrying Birmingham's decision) look a bit silly now? Clearly Israel is allowed to take steps to prevent violent clashes, so why can't Birmingham? Plus, cancelling the whole match is far more extreme than preventing fans from attending.

Starmer offering to find more resources annoys me too. The police are stretched extremely thinly. We already had a massive redirection of police this summer when Trump and Vance took their holidays here. I don't mind paying tax money to support essential services, vulnerable people, the military. But it stung enough paying for Trump to go golfing.

Piggywaspushed · 20/10/2025 06:38

That story is so unclear and so badly written! What were the riots about? Why were their fans at the stadium?

The match , due to take place, has been called off. These riots didn't happen prior to a match. I think. I really can't tell. Butt hen they mention the match and there are pictures of a pitch. Did the game get called off whilst in progress?

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2025 08:18

Well somebody at Reform will be for the chopping block. The Times reporting that they should have paid VAT on merchandise sales. They didn't appear to be aware that they needed to register for VAT.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2025 08:28

Surprise!

Edited

The riots took place outside the stadium before the match, the game got cancelled before kick off.

I assume many supporters were already in the stadium and letting of flares.

It was a match between two Tel Aviv teams who also share the stadium.

But but but all those great trade deals we made with the rest of the world.....

Even Gove has admitted the Aus-UK deal was a disaster

Surprise!

Hopefully that will dampen the Farright love-in.

Given we are now post truth, I wonder if he can get away with saying he never agreed with Brexit.

Those figures would be a lot more useful if we could know what proportion of those people now think Brexit was a bad idea, compared with those who always thought it was. Certainly in my personal life, I know people who "forget" how keen they were at the time.

Is that before or after they pay the taxes owed?

I must admit that I didn't have "Israeli police in anti semitism shock" on todays bingo card.

Although a little birdie has told me that it is anti semitic to suggest the Israeli police are anti semitic. However I intend to power the world with the existential distortion of reality that creates.

"Separately, Farage’s partner, Laure Ferrari, was reported to have been embroiled in a criminal investigation involving allegations of fraud at a Eurosceptic group that she ran when they were both working in Brussels"

Grubby, grubby, grubby people.

None of this will put Reform supporters off though.

DuncinToffee · 20/10/2025 10:28

It's all going swimmingly in Kent

Reform suspends councillors for bring party into 'disrepute'

Four councillors have been suspended by Reform UK.
A Reform UK spokesman said: "Cllrs Paul Thomas, Oliver Bradshaw, Bill Barrett and Maxine Fothergill have had the whip suspended pending investigation, following evidence that they brought the party into disrepute."

There is a contingent of Reformistas who are actually more inclined to back Farright because he is a tax dodging cunt. The continued appeal of the "let's give Cameron a kicking" policy that drove Brexit. Remember it's "are m8 nige".

That was a part of Boris Johnsons weird appeal. He was the anti-candidate in some respects.

I do wonder what Chinas strategic take on all this is ? To a certain degree it doesn't really harm them to have western economies in turmoil. But are they really angling for a complete descent into what will happen when the US implodes ?

I would have though a much more serious charge would be "Bringing the party into repute", judging by the clown antics wherever they pitch tent.

MN seems to have cooled on Reform too.

placemats · 20/10/2025 11:48

Supporting Reform should be in the same league as those who support Prince Andrew, as he's now known, Epstein and Tommy R.

Those councillors suspended have lessons to learn.

Well, if they've got to find money to pay their taxes, they won't be able to afford to, er, sponsor lots of posters on MN...
