You're quite right - I hadn't read the article. I have now.
However I did listen to the BBC headlines on Radio 4.
Maybe they were being a bit dramatic by just saying people were having to cook meals in a shower without explaining how.

They like to be the centre of attention & they think it makes them look more aware than everyone else. It's just pathetic & tedious.

If you read the article you will see the people mentioned in the article cook their own meals in the shower because they don’t like to eat the food provided for them by the hotel they are staying in.

It's fairly obvious when you actually read the article.

What a way to live though. Ed Davey is right in calling for throwing more money and resources at it to clear the backlog created by the Tories.

I have said I only heard the headlines and when I read the article (I've read the article now I promise) but people are still going to keep telling to read the article.

Because they think people have heard what's happening on the news.
Having said that, I regret not having read the article but just having listened to the radio.

Have just read and that's correct. They're choosing not to eat the food provided by the hotel and choosing to place the cooker in the shower.
From the op id thought they were having to use the hot water from the shower to cook the food!

Well, that's what I thought given the headlines on the BBC.
I have read the article now and regret my misunderstanding.

So they are refusing the free food provided and misusing the property they are staying in for free
