A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

No idea about this!

I’ve seen a figure of £2trillion @twistyizzy mentioned aswell

Reparations by the U.K. I think are inevitable in some way
both for
the UK arming Israel and for
the Balfour agreement.

articles from Human Rights Watch and ME eye on the petition

Oops. Missed yours and posted

We can seemingly afford to pay Chagos and now potentially Palestine ££££ yet have to tax the education of children in the UK because we are so skint???

strawberrybubblegum · 21/09/2025 19:58

Nope. Nope. Nope.

It seems to just be a petition - anyone can make one.

But please, please someone get Lammy out of office before he does something really stupid....

Should We pay for post war agreements ? At a time when options were limited ?

Balfour was a disgrace but sometimes I think we need to ask what other options were available at the time.
We are partly to blame along with France mainly but I don’t believe we should have to make financial reparations

Bloody hell.

Can we make a petition for the government to tell everyone asking us for reparations to just fuck right off.

I'd join a demonstration for that - no matter who else marched alongside me.

Sigh....

Independent schools have always paid tax + VAT. This is a new tax on the education of the children going to independent schools

UK is now only country in the world to tax education. We are now ideologically behind Nigeria who have just reversed the policy and where only 20% of girls get a secondary education

Independent schools are not for profit. They aren't a business like Tesco. They are literally non profit making.

Is it fair to tax the education of children? Especially SEND children?

How is any of that "fair"? Define "fair" .......I will wait

Edited

Also waiting for the government to give me the £8k per year they spend on each UK child's education. Happy for it to be in the form of a voucher I can give to her school towards her fees.

Since we're being 'fair'.

twistyizzy · 21/09/2025 20:31

I've reported as believe it could be one of our friends

amicisimma · 21/09/2025 20:37

Why have they decided to recognise a Palestinian state now?

We may or may not be of much importance in the ME situation, but the concept of recognising a Palestinian state could have been a useful lever to encourage one or both sides toward, or away from, certain behaviours. But now that's just gone. With no apparent benefit to the situation at the moment.

CruCru · 21/09/2025 20:41

They’re doing it now because Labour’s (and Starmer’s) ratings are in the toilet. They need to stop everyone talking about how shit and shifty all the ministers are.

Lutonsgirl · 21/09/2025 20:45
