A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Whoops yes 😬

I am also looking at the dire state of the kitchen floor and thinking "I really should mop that". However I've been thinking that for 3 hours and not done anything about it

I’ve been thinking that for 3 days. It’ll wait for the cleaner, won’t it? (I say to myself)

One job I can't put off any longer is cleaning the Cat's litter tray. He's sitting there giving me accusatory looks and threatening to report me to somone.🤣🤣🤣
Gloves on, I'm going in!

Id concider myself blessed if either of ours actually used the litter tray. They stand in it and poo over the side.

I won’t say what the dog does with it then 🤮

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 as long as it has a silent mode. Can you imagine listening to that voice all day 🤯

Silent and invisible.

Feeling envious tbh. We’ve been almost camping out in a temporary kitchen area since we bought Christmas 2019. I can hardly see the floor of our actual kitchen ( space). We ‘re starting the kitchen and hall, bedrooms, bathrooms ( they’re grim) on Monday.

If I’m on here you’ll know my heart still isn’t in it.

can you just see the sink at the rear 🤣

🤣🤣

That was our house 1 week after I found out I was pregnant. It still wasn't finished when I gave birth so I stayed in hospital for 1 week until the boiler and heating was in place. They said I couldn't take a newborn home to a house without heating at end of October 🤣🤣 I loved it!
We still didn't have carpets down though.

Not gonna lie, I feel a bit queasy looking at that! I hope you reach the end of the works soon. 🤞🤞

I can't remember who mentioned yesterday the effect of swathes of the public giving up the occasional treat - a Full English here and there, but the Telegraph mentioned that Reeves will be down in the treasury - among no doubt a million other reasons - partly because people are changing what they eat, choosing zero rated foods in the supermarket over others. It just seemed like another - almost invisible example - that even the smallest of changes, multiplied across many households, is important to the economy.

Additionally, I'm a Northern outlier, breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I'd get my coat but of course I won't wear it because it's not snowing 😉

Me too. I was up scaffolding painting our new Hammer house of horrors
The new neighbour who turned out to be a midwife was screaming at me to come down.
When the ambulance turned up to rush me to hospital my dh just stood there telling the paramedics how we were going to squeeze a shower room at the top of the stairs ! 🤣. I can laugh about it now 😳

Its at times like those I can see the appeal of buying a new house

Himself would, if I din't have a litter tray with a lid. Woth every penny.

Oo now there’s a thought
< googles dog proof litter tray >

upseedaisee · 20/09/2025 12:06

My dog would do the same, which was one of the reasons for getting a lidded litter tray, the other being himself hanging his arse over the edge. Anyhoo I put litter tray in the downstairs toilet facing the wall and, well, let's just say the dog couldn't.🙄

I've trained my northern kids and husband to use breakfast, lunch and dinner. DS gets me back by taking the piss out of my long vowels! 🙄

Absentosaur · 20/09/2025 12:13

Forgetting about the economy, the future of our country and all that .. and going to more important matters .. What Northerners on gods green earth call dinner, lunch? @Upstartled From where do you hail? 😆

Yeah my DH and my posh kids take the p out of my accent / words. It’s not even that strong .. what can i do..🤷‍♀️😆

Even when they were little.. it’s not castle mummy, it’s CAASRSTLE.. etc etc

NoWordForFluffy · 20/09/2025 12:19

I use dinner for my hot, main, meal of the day. So if I had that in the middle of the day, that would be dinner, and I'd have tea (sandwiches, toast etc) later. If it's a sandwich or toast etc in the middle of the day, it's lunch, then I'll have my dinner later on.

The description is based on the type of food and time of day!

My DD was obviously meant for better things than DH and I. From being able to speak she said "plaaaster" and "caaastle" 🤣 Her accent and diction has hardly changed by going to an independent school. We think we brought the wrong baby home!

Upstartled · 20/09/2025 12:29

😁 Teesside. I think my Gran started this, passed it down to my Dad and now I am accused of having delusions of grandeur! Although I am married to a Kiwi and this novelty at least puts us in meal sync.

twistyizzy · 20/09/2025 12:45

I've cleaned the bathroom 🚨

TheNuthatch · 20/09/2025 13:21

Well done @twistyizzy

I've cleaned two bathrooms, and downstairs loo.😇 🏅. Keir has hoovered everywhere.
Now got to walk the dogs in torrential rain.

Over 1000 people crossed the channel in small boats yesterday. The France deal is not working as a deterrent it seems.
