Poorly and after something to watch that’s gritty and going to pull me in!

If you like historic British crime dramatisations or gritty policing investigations (particularly from the 80’s & 90’s) old Crime Watch UK runs and odd crime documentary that shows the layers of different demographics and decades what could you suggest for me.

Feeling so sorry for myself as have a pretty awful chest infection and just want to switch off to something from my favourite (niche!) genre but just can’t find anything that I haven’t seen before.

Examples of which, Man hunt, The Red Riding Trilogy, I Fought the Law, The long shadow, Until I kill You..

Both the Manhunt series on ITV starring Martin Clunes were absolutely fantastic. Based on the real life memoirs of Colin Sutton who led both investigations.

Edge of Darkness - 1980s political thriller. Still brilliant after all these years

The Bombing of Pan Am 103 - recent BBC drama around the Locker Lockerbie bombing was compelling

I can confirm Prisoners is absolutely brilliant

Go on YouTube and watch all the crimewatch UK starting from the first one in order, this is absolutely my guilty pleasure
channel 5 has lots of crime documentaries
the first prime suspect is very good

As said in my OP Crime Watch re-runs are also my guilty pleasure and have watched all series of Manhunt, the Levi Belfield one particularly leaving a mark.

There is a new series on called Task, by the same writer, and also set in PA

Accused, two series on Netflix

You have probably seen them but what about Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes? Yes they are a bit contrived but very entertaining to watch.

I also loved Fringe if you can get hold of that. That is sort of sci fi though.

Unbelievable. It's a US series but good.

There is a dramatisation of the Yorkshire Ripper murders called 'The Long Shadow' which is worth watching, though harrowing.
Also I would recommend Dexter.

@Orchidlover75 have you seen Dexter resurrection and Original Sin ? I’ve only seen two episodes of Original Sin, need to get Paramount + in again, the whole series should be up now, I liked what I saw.

@CalzoneOnLegs yes I've seen them both, absolutely brilliant. I'm so happy that Dexter has been ressurected! Looks like there will be more seasons to come too.
