Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of intelligent Mumsnetters, (I mean the genuine kind not the three-word-name type who pop up and then vanish) who are clamouring for Reform to win the next GE. I even spot shades of SYL rhetoric coming from some. It is worrying.

If anyone thinks Reform are the solution, they aren't intelligent. They may have a wall of degrees, but I wouldn't trust them with matches.

DuncinToffee · 21/09/2025 12:10

Getting told off for not being nice enough about 'concerned' citizens is becoming a recurring theme, as well as the 'open border, uncontrolled immigration' accusations.

On the plus side, the 'knowing what a woman is' has mostly disappeared.

Tax. Their focus is tax and cutting public services to the 'undeserving'.
The No Such Thing As Society people but with a bit of contradictory Whats The World Coming To thrown in.

I think the tax system is a mess but I dont think thats an excuse to cut services further.

Yes, I was accused of 'personal attack' over questioning someone's contradictory posts, it's just tedious and it's making MN unworkable as you can't 'chat'.

LlttledrummergirI · 21/09/2025 13:02

I've managed to avoid deletions lately, I think the name change helps. I try to remember that I will never get anyone captured by far right ideology to change their mind, so try to push them into revealing themselves in the hope it makes lurkers aware of the hate filled bile being propagated.

I also think mnhq must be sick of my reporting.

Efacsen · 21/09/2025 13:09

Just seen on another thread that there are 2 new categories to report under - illegal content and misinformation

?MNHQ more concerned than they will admit

MsJinks · 21/09/2025 13:09

Zonder · 21/09/2025 09:13

This. Especially if MsJinks post is hidden , why aren't others?

It’s now freely visible but guess many missed it in between - no email (though I have email notifications turned off) - literally saw it when scrolling back to find where I left off - now can see it - I have no idea why. I’d have thought calling someone disgusting would be more of an issue. And generally some of those posts should never see the light of day and are not comparable to the one I got hidden in any way, shape or form.

They probably had to add the illegal content option to comply with the online safety act.

Misinformation- so many posts to report- so little time!

Yes! That's a great addition.

Don't get excited they still leave them up, or tell you challenge on the thread.

Really MN should be subject to the OSA. That's be amusing.

Content doesn't need to be illegal to be subject to the OSA. Just unpleasant.

ilovesooty · 21/09/2025 14:19

I've got a horrible feeling that Thomas Skinner has been invited onto Strictly to monitor the far right vote. After all, the BBC is giving a lot of airtime to Reform and Skinner is being courted by Reform and the Conservative Party (well by Jenrick).

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2025 14:45

I don't think so. They thought he was a fun, cheeky chappy type. A lot of the stuff he has said came out quite recently.

Yes and I have reported things twice under that heading and been told to 'challenge on the thread'.

I wonder what will happen when (or if) the OSA age check kicks in for MN ?

E2A: OFCOM reports are supposed to be confidential, but you know they will have received a slew of complaints about here. Ho ho ho.

PickAChew · 21/09/2025 14:51

We'll probably be asked to submit a pic of our hand hair.

I hope you're right. Anyway he hopefully won't be there for long. He's a sexually incontinent convicted criminal - ideal Reform material.

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2025 14:56

Most importantly, he looks a shit dancer.

I wouldn't know about that. Fucked if I am giving anyone my ID. I don't trust myself, let alone a bunch of folk who have no interest in my well being.

I have visions of Nigel Farright elbowing him out of the way as he's voted off saying "If you want a job done properly ....."
