I saw that!

Ad yet the bilious outpouring I am responding to on that thread, reported to HQ is still there as is the same poster's claptrap about Khan. I am to 'challenge that on the thread'.

Piggywaspushed · 21/09/2025 08:07

I do think some people start threads for fun or to get to 1000 posts or whatever. Doesn't really entertain me as it just brings all the racists out to play and they stress me out because their stuff not being deleted totally validates them.

Still hidden and honestly it’s probably nicer than some posts I’ve written lately! Really just a musing on Frog and SYL being different but the same but in so doing reaching a wider audience.
I flicked through the enormous number of posts that were added in my few hours away - so many are so abhorrent.
Thank you to you and all who keep batting back. I can’t believe the same things have to be repeated on 2-3 daily threads- I’m not sure where they’re all from either - hmm.
I umm and ahh sometimes if it’s worth engaging. A counter protest at a hotel yesterday was going to be completely silent as its thought the protesters enjoy the fighting - don’t know how it went yet.
My kids want me to not turn out to stuff but I feel driven to it after never being an activist or marcher in my several decades of life, so where I can I address stuff and will keep going to counter protests where I can - hope it all helps but not so sure at times, though I wish I knew what really would stop the hate 😞

I am so frustrated by HQ's failure to act on so many blatant racist and Islamophobic threads on this site. The things posters write about Sadiq Khan, the lies about London, the frequent use of words like 'indigenous', the urging of others to watch banned content. It feels like someone has to totally jump the shark before HQ reacts.

Sorry, just ranting.
HQ have got fed up of me reporting , I think.

If they are fed up with reporting then they are failing to manage their site in the first place.

No one should need to report hate speech or banned video links.

Zonder · 21/09/2025 09:13

Please keep reporting @Piggywaspushed - we need to keep it up.

@MsJinks no email explanation or anything?

This. Especially if MsJinks post is hidden , why aren't others?

I'm currently trying to assess if the MN massif has more scorn for pensioners or immigrants...

This site really has become pretty toxic of late.

The BBC only cover stunts. Ignore policy announcements. And then complain there are too many stunts and not enough policy.

In fairness the BBC prefer to focus on stunt stuff & feelz with all the parties. Throw in a pointless but carefully edited Vox pox and they’ve filled 10 mins of airtime.

Quite. The stunts are often quite silly but they also show humanity. Davey isn't afraid of ridicule (unlike many on the right) and isn't afraid to speak his mind.

Vox pox is a wonderful typo and perfectly apt in many cases.

Notonthestairs · 21/09/2025 09:52

😂 hehe - missed that typo altogether. Need more ☕️

I think we have 2 options, either we all need to keep reporting it each and every time, or we walk away from MN. It is so frustrating.

May I ask which thread you are referring to?

Most shows that increase footfall suffer more shoplifting.

Sadly, I don't think these shenanigans will put off Reform voters. They don't care about finer details, they just want to get rid of foreigners.

One absolute scumbag local to me filmed two such foreigners, who were simply taking a walk. Scumbag then posted what he filmed on our local FB group, accusing the "foreigners" (he actually used that word) of being up to no good and warning residents to be careful.

I was so fucked off I reported it to FB, who amazingly deleted the post.

https://news.exeter.ac.uk/research/new-research-casts-doubt-on-reforms-appeal-to-young-people-and-shows-labour-faces-a-challenge-holding-on-to-youth-support/

Most young people are unlikely to vote for Reform, despite portrayals of the political party appealing to those in their teens and twenties, new research shows.

A year on from the General Election the study suggests depictions of Reform’s youth-surge are more hype than reality.

itsgettingweird · 21/09/2025 11:54

My ds and his friends seem to be more left than me (I’m centric but prob more centre left than anything else).

He has one who spouts reform but when we were discussing politics and I said a few “I see why you think that however …….’s” he was “oh yeah”.

So I think those who like the idea of what reform say they represent (for ds friend it was protection woman and children) they are far more open to learning facts.

Yet i wander down the beach past lots of older folk (generally retired age) who are spouting about “illegals” publicly and proud of it.

Most people my age can’t be bothered to be interested in politics with an equal split between those who can with who they vote for but most are fairly centric in their opinions like me.

Please don’t yell at me for age generalisation as I’m not - I realise there many (including many of you and my dad) over 70 who aren’t far right and many of TR ilk are my age. It’s observation from what I’ve seen around me and heard around me and from conversations I’ve had.

Most conversations I have with those my age are that they should be interested because not voting or learning the whole truth is as dangerous as voting based on single issue SM propaganda.

Mostly my horror comes from those openly discussing “illegals” and the fact most of those are from white MC areas around here where diversity is embarrassingly non existent let alone needing to worry about asylum seekers.

I much prefer from area of the suburbs that’s becoming increasingly diverse - we had our first mosque a year ago - and this morning in jh walk to the bottle bank - oh yes my life is that exciting! - I met a large African/British family back from a christening and an Indian family off to a wedding and the young girls were dressed beautifully in traditional dress.
one short walk (7 mins each way) and I learned about how 2 different cultures celebrate big events in contrast to us and I feel richer for it rather than threatened.
I cannot see the need to “other” people who are basically humans like us and living their lives like us.

Sorry for going off on my soap box but these far right racist thugs are really making me angry with their whole “we don’t want “them” here” it’s so fucking disrespectful.

Hopefully the stench of Brexit will never leave Farright. The media may have "forgotten" but maybe someone who can see the loss of freedoms from 2021 is less forgiving.

PandoraSocks · 21/09/2025 12:00

There are plenty of intelligent Mumsnetters, (I mean the genuine kind not the three-word-name type who pop up and then vanish) who are clamouring for Reform to win the next GE. I even spot shades of SYL rhetoric coming from some. It is worrying.
