Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

These colours are awful

I really don't like them, they are far too bright and in your face. They've done something stupid to the blue as well. It's like they've let a toddler choose the shades.

PandoraSocks · 18/09/2025 18:41

It is horrible and gives me a headache! It is all so bright.

I agree that voting for fecking idiots simply because they are a 'big character' (Johnson, Trump, Farage etc) is a disaster.
Not sure that the utter lack of charisma shown by either Starmer or Badenoch is a good response though...

People voted for Mr Johnson because of the alternative of Mr Corbyn, and to an extent the then Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson. In part also because they were fed up with Brexit dominating the conversation and believed the lie that he would get it done.

rockstarshoes · 18/09/2025 19:39

Well I’m feeling relieved that all went relatively well! 😮‍💨
I’m sure Trump’s stance will change when he get’s back on Air Force One but it appeared as though they had talked about some of the most controversial stuff behind the scenes despite the press attempts to stir things up!

I’m feeling slightly less hopeless than I was at the start of the week!

Video of Daubney saluting a foreign president made me laugh.
Imagine KGM saluting random foreign leader (eg Macron) and how certain parts of the population would react.

Henry Morris (@mrhenrymorris.substack.com)

Oi, Martin Daubney. Get your tanks off Partridge's lawn.

DuncinToffee · 19/09/2025 08:38

Trump spent a lot of time attacking Sadiq Khan on his return flight, all lies ofcourse.

How long will we get the daily headline of 'migrant removed'? UK-France deal is active, no updates required.

But here is something to look forward to

God please no with one migrant removed. Literally the most small minded headline ever.

Love the trees @DuncinToffee

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/09/2025 09:34

@DuncinToffee - your autumnal update has persuaded me to share the nut tax taken off our walnut tree last night.
You'd have thought there were too many nuts around in politics already

Agh, I am finding MN hard to use right now. The changes really hurt my eyes. Provably a good thing as I spend too much time here.

I also noticed that deleted posts are now anonymised. I wonder why MN decided to do that?

DuncinToffee · 19/09/2025 10:00

I am for one glad the media is now telling us that the government is not going to send in the military to attack small boats in the channel as Trump suggested Confused

Not sure if they are disappointed at that.

I agree Pandora and the deleted post thing is weird.

I really don't need to have 'my posts' highlighted like that either.

Probably Duncin! I was raging at the BBC 10pm news last night! Not a mention of the deal signed, even if to pick it apart, never mind the benefits!
Peter Mandelson ✅ Gaza✅ Military used to stop the boats ✅.
I know I should be used to it by now!

Question Time turned into the Piers Morgan monologue show and yes, he was as odious as ever.

Lovely nuts @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats !

The Newsagents podcast yesterday covered this very well.
And straight from the horse’s mouth.
Trump:

"When you have a network, and you have evening shows, and all they do is hit Trump... They're not allowed to do that."

Heaven only knows why Vance and friends think they can lecture Europe on free speech.

I’m going on an anti-racism, Refugees Welcome demo locally tomorrow. Got to the point where I need to stand up and be counted.

I'm doing that the following Saturday. Cardboard and markers at the ready.

I’ve delegated the art work @placemats … Friend who is coming with me is making mine.

DS has a job interview! Part time, NHS, in a mental health service. If he can't work in his field (and his non disabled peers are struggling) then this is the next best thing. He's passionate about mental health and this is also the service which has helped him so much.

countrygirl99 · 19/09/2025 13:29

Good luck to your DS @pointythings

I agree Pandora and the deleted post thing is weird.

I really don't need to have 'my posts' highlighted like that either.

Deleted posts have been anonymous for me for a while. I thought it was an annoying feature but there for everyone! It's frustrating because knowing who is deleted in a debate is helpful to maintain the conversation flow in my head.

Good luck to your ds pointythings.
