A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

BP is definitely being lined up for this. Probably arranged last week. Starmer needs 1 supporter in cabinet

I think you are right.

Good - she’s another liability, and a gift to the opposition.

ladybirdsanchez · 10/09/2025 18:59

Shamelessly place marking! I'll be back, but completely exhausted after a long day of course + driving home.

upseedaisee · 10/09/2025 19:07

I'm really hoping Emily Thornberry wins the Deputy Leaders race. Not because I think she'll do the job well, but Starmer stiffed her over when Labour sailed into power after promising her the Attorney General position. She has been languishing on the back benches and I'm betting she's chomping at the bit to see Starmers downfall. Nothing like a woman scorned.

With you. That’s my hope too.

She’d be the bitterest and most confrontational deputy of any of them. And she’s so - implausibly - grand in her own mind. A delicious prospect.

LupaMoonhowl · 10/09/2025 19:14

She will certainly lose any residual ‘white van man’ vote…

Good point. Starmer will be hoping any praying it's not her.

Thanks for the new thread! Just catching up. Thought Kemi was great in PMQ's....Starmer looked weak....but I was particularly bemused when he criticised her for not giving him the same treatment last week over Rayner!

The reference back to last week and Rayner was such a giveaway: it’s exactly what a barrister would say in closing argument to a court. But it’s completely out of place in political dispute.

Starmer’s a useless and incompetent speaker, policy maker and Prime Minister. Absolute shambles.

Beat me to it! A tool from a tool maker (and business owner).

On another thread it was firmly established that Starmer is in fact very much middle class.

I really wish the ‘working class lad’ crap would fuck off and die, He’s just a middle class product who tried and failed to get to Oxbridge (Leeds and then later a BCL) and is no special thinker. On all present evidence he’s a complete intellectual lightweight.

Mandy looks like such a creep doesn’t he?

The merest look of him gives me the urge to jump into the shower….

He must have some serious shit buried - soon to be disinterred.

Watch Starmer continue to back him then.

GabrielsOboe · 10/09/2025 21:05

Meanwhile, looks like we are another baby step closer to civil disorder in the US, with the Charlie Kirk shooting.

What a mess…

I just overheard my dc discussing that. I confess I didn't know who he was.

Some people really are vile.
My heart goes out to his wife and kids. Horrendous.

I just overheard my dc discussing that. I confess I didn't know who he was.

I unfortunately came across the actual video of his murder on X. I was hoping it was AI generated and not real. I’ve watched a lot of Charlie’s videos on YouTube over the last few years and I’m shocked that someone would go to such lengths just because they have a different opinion to him.

What a sad world we live in. Two young children have just lost their dad, a wife has lost her beloved husband. And grown women, mothers even? on a parenting website think it’s acceptable to make goady comments about his death.

strawberrybubblegum · 10/09/2025 22:41

That's so sad. I worry for our world, with increasing political violence. A young man has lost his life, his entire future. A wife has lost her husband, and 2 small children their father. Just because some people didn't like what he believes, and don't have the emotional continence to handle it.

It's always the Left who are intolerant. Always the Left who are so convinced of their own moral superiority that they prove the exact opposite.

I'm so sickened, and also afraid for our own future.

Well said. I agree.

Some of the comments I've read on MN tonight are vile. As you say, on a parenting site ffs.
