A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Good morning 😁

Awful news (again) on the economy. Sad to hear of another good family business going under. We can all see what is happening in our day to day lives, and then we see Starmer on TV saying he's fixed the foundations and created jobs. Just fuck off Starmer.

Yes it makes my blood boil every time I see their propoganda on X or hear them speak. At this stage it is 100% propoganda because they are blatantly lying to our faces

EasternStandard · 12/09/2025 08:24

Talk of Morgan McSweeney being the fall guy for Mandelson but it’s just passing the buck if so. This is with Starmer.

He declared ‘full confidence’

Of course there will be a fall guy cos nothing is Starmers fault is it?

Yes I've heard the same. It probably was McSweeney who orchestrated Mandy's appointment. Even if that's true, the buck stops with Starmer.
What does that say about our Prime Minister though if an unelected No.10 bod is choosing the UK's ambassador to the US?

Terrible. That’s why we sold our rental. And thousands of other good LL’s doing the same.

Presumably Mandy was interviewed pretty thoroughly and asked if there was anything damaging that could come to light and presumably he said no, as if he’d owned up to the Epstein stuff then he wouldn’t have been appointed as Ambassador.
So what surprises me is that he must have thought all those emails and cards etc would never see the light of day. As taking screenshots takes a matter of seconds plus there are plenty of skilled hackers, this was naive of him.
Maybe he thought they’d all been destroyed.
I wonder what’s he’ll do now.

The reports are that he was pretty open about it.......

It appears he hadn't been sacked, just removed. So the taxpayer will continue to fund him plus he has a lucrative consultancy business. He will be fine.

EasternStandard · 12/09/2025 10:34

It seems there could be a vote in the information in the HoC. That could force the issue.

TheNuthatch · 12/09/2025 10:35

The Times are reporting that Mandy was open about continuing his relationship with Epstein post conviction.
Sky reporting that security warnings were given but ignored.
They knew, he didn't hide it. They gave him the job anyway 🤷‍♂️.

Will be interesting to see how Labour MPs vote if it goes ahead.

Will be a foresight of vote of no confidence hence Starmer will avoid at all costs

EmpressoftheMundane · 12/09/2025 10:41

Mandy was honest. Starmer had the facts and made a poor judgement.
