Sleeping nude vs pjs

What’s your preference - and why?

my sister told me she sleeps every night in pjs (and underwear!!)!

She was flabbergasted I sleep completely naked. I love a bedtime bath/shower all clean then climbing into bed.

I lounge around the house in pjs but just don’t sleep in them.

we were both brought up by the same mum who dressed us in nightdresses every night so I can’t even think when I stopped sleeping in pjs

everyone else??

Used to sleep naked. Then had several kids in quick succession and needed to get up to attend urgent puking situations (or whatever) in the night. Our house is very cold. PJs all the way. Used to it now.

MargoLivebetter · 09/09/2025 12:43

crikey @cheesycheesy how do you sleep at night that your fanny is rubbing against your bed?!

TheWibble · 09/09/2025 12:45

Pj's are a sensory nightmare for me, but I can't sleep fully naked and have to wear knickers. If it's really cold I'll wear bedsocks too. It always amazes me how much of a difference a pair of socks can make.

MonsterBoo · 09/09/2025 12:57

I have to co sleep so unfortunately I can't sleep nude but I do miss it!

MiddleAgeRageMonster · 09/09/2025 13:14

I am thankful every day that when we had a house fire a few winters back I was dressed in my very glamorous bright pink, thick and fluffy pj's!
In a proper emergency (ie you can smell the smoke and not just hear a random fire alarm in a hotel that will most likely be set off accidentally) you won't be stopping to put the pj's on that you keep at the side of the bed etc. We had minutes to get ourselves and two children out of the house or we would have been dead. Either own it and get out naked or wear pj's but for the love of god don't fanny about trying to get them on in an emergency.

Mischance · 09/09/2025 13:15

PJ's - to soak up any sweat; knickers to hold the Always pad needed since blessed menopause.

BoomBoom70 · 09/09/2025 13:19

Naked, always.

SandInMySockz · 09/09/2025 13:19

I sleep nude and have done for a while, single parent so no DH and a big bed to myself lol. Have a son but nudity isn’t a big deal in our house

bugalugs45 · 09/09/2025 13:20

I wear nothing most of the year , apart from knickers when on period , but if I’m cold I wear fleecy pyjamas and totes socks ! My friend wears a vest top and knickers, it’s a long standing joke that even if she has sex with her husband she gets back up to put them back on !

SingingintheRadiator · 09/09/2025 13:24

PJs, mainly because I'm always cold, but also because I have dogs who occasionally need to go out in the middle of the night, so it's just easier to have something on.

menopausalfart · 09/09/2025 13:26

I've been sleeping naked since I was a teenager. I can't stand wearing clothes to bed.

GameOfJones · 09/09/2025 13:27

@bugalugs45 I may be your friend because that is me after sex too! Nip to the bathroom and then knickers and t shirt back on! 🤣

@pinkspeakers ahh that's lucky. I'm on mirena too for my endometriosis but it hasn't stopped my periods unfortunately and they're still heavy.....just not at the ridiculous levels they were. But knickers are still very much necessary for me at night!

Oh no, pyjamas and knickers. If DDs BF is staying I sleep in a bra too. Incase of emergency.
But I've got a whole strange routine about over night though.
I'm told fresh pj's each night for everyone is strange. I'm told that ensuring they have their complete pj set that matches is weird (for example if their top gets wet, the top doesn't get changed, its a whole outfit change. And I get so anxious I can't sleep if the boys pj's don't match. They have exactly the same outfits, day-night, sleeping, swimming, playing.

I started off with just doing things the "right" way before bed, and it spiralled!

Oh dear. This isn’t healthy. Hope you can get some support for your extreme anxiety.

Runnersandtoms · 09/09/2025 13:39

If I went to bed nude that would be an invitation to DH.... always wear pjs or nightie and knickers. Never a bra though, in fact I take that off as early in the evening as possible. DH wears pants only or tshirt and pants. I'd feel a bit weird sleeping naked so I'm intrigued by how many people do.

BauhausOfEliott · 09/09/2025 13:45

I either wear nothing, or knickers and a non-wired bralette. (I sometimes need bust support for comfort, and wearing a bralette without knickers just feels weird somehow.)

I wear pyjamas to relax after a shower or whatever, but never to sleep. I just find them uncomfortable to wear under a duvet.

I unexpectedly had a long hospital stay recently and wore thin cotton PJ bottoms and a supportive crop top, which weirdly incurred the wrath of another patient?!

Lakeyloo · 09/09/2025 13:58

Nude. Even if its cold and I get into bed with PJs on they always end up on the floor at some point during the night. Too restrictive and too hot. Shorts style PJs if we are away in a hotel or staying at someone's house, just in case an alarm goes off or I need a wee in the night and end up going through the wrong door. Can't sleep without some kind of cover though, either a duvet, or a thin cotton sheet in the Summer.
I have no idea why, but it just feels a bit unhygienic to sleep in knickers (and twice the amount to wash!) Like to let a bit of air circulate.

datinghelp · 09/09/2025 13:59

I sleep naked mainly. The only exception is if I have guests or I’m a guest somewhere, sharing a room or air b&b etc. hotels normally naked but will have pjs around and close by for emergencies.

I feel restricted when I wear anything to bed and get all tangled up. The exception is when I’m on my period

user1497787065 · 09/09/2025 14:07

I’m 60 and always sleep naked. I have been permanently warm for the last 20 years though.

BigBirdOfPrey · 09/09/2025 14:10

Pj top & pants

ouch321 · 09/09/2025 14:10

I'm surprised people sleep naked. The hassle of having to launder your bedlinen every day would be too much to me but I'm lazy...

ha ha!

WaltzingWaters · 09/09/2025 14:18

Same as you, I love sleeping in the nude. PJ’s for lounging around the house but not actually sleeping. If I do wear anything at night (when we have guests) it has to be a loose tshirt and shorts, I can’t stand long trousers in bed.
but as my son is growing (3 1/2yrs) I’m thinking darn, maybe I need to start wearing something at night, so I’ve just ordered a little nightie.

beAsensible1 · 09/09/2025 14:19

Depends on the weather honestly. Underwear is madness.

your butt needs to breath

BauhausOfEliott · 09/09/2025 14:26

cheesycheesy · 09/09/2025 12:39

Surely you need to change your bedding every few days if you’re rubbing fanny, balls and arse crack against it 8 hours a day. Even if you do shower before bed it’s unhygienic. I’ve mentioned this on other posts and I’ve been accused of being stinky as I had the nerve to say it.

Do you change the sheets every time you have sex, then? Or do you perform the terrible deed atop a tarpaulin and have a quick Dettox bath before and after?

Nobody who showers regularly has genitals that ruin sheets upon contact. It’s your own bloody body ffs!

FinallyHere · 09/09/2025 14:29

Even if I start off wearing any clothes, by the time I wake up again I’ve taken off anything. HTH
