Sleeping nude vs pjs

What’s your preference - and why?

my sister told me she sleeps every night in pjs (and underwear!!)!

She was flabbergasted I sleep completely naked. I love a bedtime bath/shower all clean then climbing into bed.

I lounge around the house in pjs but just don’t sleep in them.

we were both brought up by the same mum who dressed us in nightdresses every night so I can’t even think when I stopped sleeping in pjs

everyone else??

People whose DH sleep naked, does that not bother you?? I'd get the heebie geebies is I was trying to sleep and someone's sweaty ballsack was flopping about in my bed. Wouldn't want their butt crack directly on my bed all night either

Sprogonthetyne · 09/09/2025 10:42

As a child I preferred to be nude, then at around 10/11 our house was burgled. Nothing terrible happened but I remember hearing it happening but not wanting to get up and wake my mum because I was naked, and the robbers might see me, so I just pretended to sleep through it. I've worn pajamas ever since.

blobby10 · 09/09/2025 10:43

Used to sleep nude or in a nightie a lot before having children then got an irrational fear that if the house was on fire, I might waste time trying to find clothes or knickers to put on instead of getting the children out of the house so have worn pjs ever since. Shorts and t shirt mostly - sometimes crop bottoms in the winter. Can't face a nightie these days either - I think that came from having to go down the firemans ladder and whoever was holding it seeing all my bits! I had some weird dreams when my children were small Grin

PetsNPaws · 09/09/2025 10:44

I’m the same as your sister—always PJs (and underwear). I can’t relax otherwise. I’ve tried sleeping naked a couple of times but just felt too exposed, even though it was only me in the room!

Doesn't bother me at all. Husband and I have been together 41 years and have always both slept naked. Love the feel of skin on skin if we accidentally touch in the night - big bed! When I had a hospital stay recently I had to do a stop off at M&S to buy some pjs.

hevs03 · 09/09/2025 11:03

Shorts/T-Shirt PJ's or long legged one's in the winter, cannot sleep in the nude, house burgled once, the robber came in with a lovely big knife and stole stuff from downstairs, I didn't hear a thing but if I had I know I would have confronted them (to be fair the sight of my flabby body may well have shocked him into fleeing). So it's covered up for me in case it happens again!

Sleep in Pjs and underwear, I’m 50 and my breasts haven’t sagged, I’m sure some of it is down to wearing a bra to bed

Surely it cant be that comfy to have a bra on in bed?

Deadringer · 09/09/2025 11:11

Aside from being old and fat, another reason I wear a nightshirt now is because I invariably need to run to the bathroom during the night, and no one needs to see that!

Ive never slept naked. At the least pants and a crop top bra. I find a crop top bra more comfy than topless.

My children still climb into my bed in the night and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that if I was naked too.

Same here, always crop top bra (loose one, not too tight) and knickers plus nightdress or pjs. Up and down with the children at night playing musical beds, no way could I be naked. Prefer a bra on, don’t want my bits hanging around in the way. I don’t like the look of things now and I don’t like walking round without a bra even with t-shirt on. My partner would think it’s his bday and Xmas at once if I started sleeping naked, but also wonder if I’d gone slightly mad

Me too!! Bare bums all over the sheets all night makes me feel a bit weird! I think we would both need to shower just before bed to be ok with this. Also feel very vulnerable naked, just doesn’t feel right

KawasakiBabe · 09/09/2025 11:16

I used to sleep naked, but when I had young children I started to wear pjs, I didn’t want to be seeing to little ones with nothing on or having to constantly find a robe. That continued, as I gained weight and skin started touching, lol. I’ve now lost a bit of weight and sleep in just my knickers.

TheOpalReader · 09/09/2025 11:18

Always pjs, I hate the feel of skin sticking together. Vest and shorts in summer, long trousers and t-shirt in the winter.

JetFlight · 09/09/2025 11:38

definitely pjs. I’m not one to be naked around my children and the amount of times they’d wake me up or come into my bed.
Sometimes the alarm has triggered and I’ve had to jump out of bed to deal with it (or a possible intruder). No way am I sleeping naked.

MamaBobo · 09/09/2025 11:55

Nude….I hate the feeling of being tangled up in PJs. I do sometimes put trainer liner type socks on in winter if my feet get cold. We do lounge in PJs.

GameOfJones · 09/09/2025 12:08

Always knickers. Just with a vest top in height of summer but most of the time in a t shirts and pyjama bottoms with a cuffed ankle so they don't ride up my legs.

I never slept naked growing up at home so wearing pyjamas is what is normal for me. Plus if I have to get up in the night for a wee I don't want to be wandering the landing completely naked. I'd also be freezing in winter!

DH just sleeps in boxers. Sleeping with no underwear on would feel completely weird to me.

What happens if you get your period in the night? You just stain the sheets and mattress? 😱 I have endometriosis and very heavy periods so if I know it's due I wear a pad in my knickers to bed just in case.

Daisydoesnt · 09/09/2025 10:09

I’m 55, I’ve slept completely nude for as long as I can remember. No sagging here either.

I just can’t imagine why people wear clothes to go to bed, to me it seems so odd. But there we are.

Did you not wear clothes to bed when you were a child / teenager?…..presume you did so I can’t really see how you would see it as odd

InNewYorkNoShoes · 09/09/2025 12:13

Yikes. I could never sleep naked.
We had an attempted break in whilst we were asleep and my husband had to run down in boxers. I would imagine being butt naked and tackling a burglar will end badly.

Eurgh same here. Hate my bare thighs touching

LockLowMan · 09/09/2025 12:35

DH always sleeps bollock naked.

I sleep in T-shirt and socks. Very occasionally on absolutely freezing cold nights I'll also wear a thin pair of PJ trousers.
It has to be knocking 40C for me to relinquish my socks and I can't physically sleep without a T-shirt on.

I change into PJs as soon as I'm finished with work for the day and wear them all evening, taking the trousers and jumper off for bed. I never, ever, ever wear underwear with PJs.

No. If "someone's" sweaty ballsack was flopping around I'd have a problem. But DH is just DH and I'm totally comfortable with his body.

That's weird to me. I'm not aware of my thighs touching (obviously they must be at times, depending on how I am sleeping) or my skin sticking.

cheesycheesy · 09/09/2025 12:39

Surely you need to change your bedding every few days if you’re rubbing fanny, balls and arse crack against it 8 hours a day. Even if you do shower before bed it’s unhygienic. I’ve mentioned this on other posts and I’ve been accused of being stinky as I had the nerve to say it.

I've been on the mirena with no periods for years. But before then my periods rarely started in a way that would cause much harm at night. Normally just a bit of pink on tissue when wiping, or slight stain in knickers. As long as I was using tampons, I don't think I even wore knickers in bed on my period?

MargoLivebetter · 09/09/2025 12:40

Nude. Can't stand the feeling of fabric on fabric when I'm trying to sleep. When my DC were small, I wore pants and a t-shirt, but I wasn't a fan. As soon as they were old enough for me to have the door closed, it was back to nudity.

Growing up I used to wear PJs to bed and in the winter I would be in PJs, a jumper, socks and when it was particularly cold a hat too!!!! Maybe that's what put me off! 😂

I’m not large but I just hate the feeling of sweaty skin touching. I am a warm person. I wish I wasn’t bothered by it.
