Sleeping nude vs pjs

What’s your preference - and why?

my sister told me she sleeps every night in pjs (and underwear!!)!

She was flabbergasted I sleep completely naked. I love a bedtime bath/shower all clean then climbing into bed.

I lounge around the house in pjs but just don’t sleep in them.

we were both brought up by the same mum who dressed us in nightdresses every night so I can’t even think when I stopped sleeping in pjs

everyone else??

I’m the same, I have to sleep in the nude. I feel hot and uncomfortable otherwise

cheesycheesy · 08/09/2025 23:52

I find not wearing at least uncomfortable and unhygienic

Stichintime · 08/09/2025 23:58

Never wore PJs until the menopause. I found I was waking up cold after the sweats several times a night. Now I wear PJs and pure cotton bedding. Problem solved.

JDM625 · 08/09/2025 23:58

DH has always slept nude since I we met- winter and summer. He doesn't own PJ's!

I used to sleep naked when younger/slimmer, but now wear a nightie in hotter weather. In cold weather I have socks and sometimes trackie trousers on also but sometimes topless. I've never worn underwear in bed unless on my period.

If relevant, we don't have children.

Idontknownowwhat · 09/09/2025 00:04

Oh no, pyjamas and knickers. If DDs BF is staying I sleep in a bra too. Incase of emergency.
But I've got a whole strange routine about over night though.
I'm told fresh pj's each night for everyone is strange. I'm told that ensuring they have their complete pj set that matches is weird (for example if their top gets wet, the top doesn't get changed, its a whole outfit change. And I get so anxious I can't sleep if the boys pj's don't match. They have exactly the same outfits, day-night, sleeping, swimming, playing.

I started off with just doing things the "right" way before bed, and it spiralled!

Sleep in Pjs and underwear, I’m 50 and my breasts haven’t sagged, I’m sure some of it is down to wearing a bra to bed

Elphamouche · 09/09/2025 00:41

Nude!!! Pjs when it’s cold, but there’s no better feeling than being free in bed! DH mostly wears his boxers.

We both lounge in PJs but I only sleep in them if I’m cold, I will put them next to me if I’m away incase of hotel fire alarms 😂

purpleme12 · 09/09/2025 00:45

Pyjamas

I haven't even slept naked this summer since I got the 1 tog duvet

TheDogsMother · 09/09/2025 00:50

A short slip type nightie all year round. If it’s freezing cold in the winter (cold house) then I will wear the same but add a pair of cashmere socks.

NightPuffins · 09/09/2025 00:50

I find my body can regulate my own temperature much better when undressed so I don’t wear pyjamas nor nightie. But for some unknown reason I cannot sleep without pants on. So that’s all I wear in bed.

mumoronegirl · 09/09/2025 00:52

I wear PJ's in the house but always take the trousers off for bed and just keep the top on - trousers strangle me in the night!

80smusicandavoulevant · 09/09/2025 00:52

Naked. I couldn’t sleep with any form of pjs/nightdress or underwear. I find it so uncomfortable. I hate the feeling of it all twisting up and legs rising on the pj bottoms

GreenAndWhiteStripes · 09/09/2025 00:54

Pyjamas

JBJ · 09/09/2025 00:57

Sleeveless cotton nightie here. Can’t stand anything on my bottom half in bed, especially socks. I don’t like sleeping naked in case there’s an emergency that needs me to get up quickly, plus I have a teenage son, so would have to put some clothes on every time I needed a bathroom trip on the night, which is very frequently thanks to perimenopause!

This really isn't mentally healthy for you or your children and I would like to nicely suggest you see your GP about your anxiety.

Cherryicecreamx · 09/09/2025 01:03

Definitely pyjamas! I feel so vulnerable (even alone) with no clothes on. I like the feeling of something against my skin. I find an oversized t-shirt and pants the most comfortable to wear in bed.

pizzaHeart · 09/09/2025 01:09

Pjs when it’s cold or short nightie or just a tshirt. Knickers always.
I can’t sleep naked.

Athreedoorwardrobe · 09/09/2025 01:16

I just put a new pair of big cotton pants on. Cannot be bothered with PJs.. unless I'm a guest in someone else's home or something then I've got a pair for that.
But I do wear pants in case I have to get up suddenly in an emergency.. I've got a tshirt at the end of the bed I can fling on then I'd be basically decent if I have to run downstairs.
Other than that I think it's a waste of clothing.. what's the point?

Rightandwrong · 09/09/2025 06:16

I used to sleep naked when younger.
I wear a nightie or pyjamas now.

I must say it was quite a recent discovery for me that some people wear knickers in bed. I thought allowing a bit of air round your nether regions was much healthier?
Besides which actually taking off restrictive underwear is one of the pleasures of going to bed for me.

YelloDaisy · 09/09/2025 06:20

Our house is too cold for lounging in pjs (except for a few days a year) and shoulders would get cold in unheated bedroom.

Lulu1919 · 09/09/2025 06:23

Oversized t shirt style cotton 'nighty' and cotton knickers
Can't sleep naked...feel vulnerable!?

If you haven't already it'd be a good idea to ask your GP for help with this - what you describe about your children's clothes is very extreme.

NuffSaidSam · 09/09/2025 06:30

I like PJs unless it's very hot. It's hard enough to get out of my nice cosy bed in the morning anyway, if I was naked I'd be freezing. I'd never get up!

UniversityofWarwick · 09/09/2025 07:01

I would sleep naked but have my dd with me so keep pants on. Have to have my duvet on, but often need a fan to cool me down in the summer.

EffectivelyDecluttering · 09/09/2025 07:12

Nighties here, short strappy cotton in summer, oversized teeshirt in spring and autumn, long sleeved below the knee in winter. I sleep curled up so knickers and pj bottoms give ne a wedgie. If I need a wee in the night I don't want to faff about putting clothes on (no ensuite).
