Sleeping nude vs pjs

What’s your preference - and why?

my sister told me she sleeps every night in pjs (and underwear!!)!

She was flabbergasted I sleep completely naked. I love a bedtime bath/shower all clean then climbing into bed.

I lounge around the house in pjs but just don’t sleep in them.

we were both brought up by the same mum who dressed us in nightdresses every night so I can’t even think when I stopped sleeping in pjs

everyone else??

Various according to temperature.
Naked, long vest, long t shirt, short sleeve pj's, long sleeve pj's and when it's coldest add fluffy socks.

dollyblue01 · 09/09/2025 07:20

Just knickers for me , feel too uncomfortable in anything else.

Ketryne · 09/09/2025 09:18

When my now DH and I first lived together I slept in just pants (for some reason I never felt comfy without them) but when I got pregnant with DC1, I started wearing a big T-shirt as it felt more nicer around my bump. Then when the baby arrived and I was doing night feeds and then settling wake ups in another room I started wearing shorts too. Now in the night feeds phase with DC2 and have never gone back. I’m even in a breastfeeding sleep bra to stop catch any leaking in the night. I’m really looking forward to not needing the bra anymore, but I can’t imagine ever being able to sleep naked in bed again. It’s going to be years before I can guarantee no one will need me in the night!

Belladog1 · 09/09/2025 09:28

I sleep in my partners old t-shirts as he doesn't live with me. I know, I know, vomit inducing.

I also wear a pair of knickers in bed.

GiantTeddyIsTired · 09/09/2025 09:37

Used to sleep nude, then had a baby who would latch on the moment a boob was anywhere near, so moved to t-shirt and knickers, then kids got older and I just felt weird sleeping naked in case there was some kind of emergency.

So now I wear some kind of pyjamas (could be a t-shirt and knickers, could be a full onsie in the depths of winter if the heating's bust).

TheSummerof25 · 09/09/2025 09:39

Ive never slept naked. At the least pants and a crop top bra. I find a crop top bra more comfy than topless.

My children still climb into my bed in the night and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that if I was naked too.

BuzzYourGirlfriendWooof · 09/09/2025 09:45

I’ve always slept in PJs or short strappy night dress, but in this last week, I got irritated with the night dress twisting around me, plus I felt quite hot, and I decided to take it off….what a revelation!! I felt so much better, so can see me sticking to this (but with knickers on).

pinkspeakers · 09/09/2025 09:51

Almost always nude. T shirt if it is cold. Maybe socks if very cold! Hate having anything tangling up my bottom half and it is one reason why I don't like sharing a bed or even a room with anyone other than DH.

Gallivant · 09/09/2025 09:53

Have aways slept in the nip. Bedclothes are for warmth, why add other clothes?

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/09/2025 09:53

Used to sleep nude. Then kids came (and at least one would wake up at least several times a night and necessitate a trip along the landing in a freezing cold house, so I started wearing pyjamas. Now I live in a house where the bathroom is downstairs so although I live alone and could technically paint myself blue every night if I wanted, I wear pyjamas to avoid scaring any neighbours who might be glancing out of their window as I make my millionth trek down to the loo in the night.

HappyAsASandboy · 09/09/2025 09:56

I love sleeping nude when there’s no kids in the house!

When the kids are here I am up and down all night, they get in my bed, I’m up at the crack of dawn etc, so I find it more comfortable to be in pjs. Not that they don’t see me naked, but traipsing around with cups of water, loo trips, cuddles in bed with kids etc would be weird naked and there’s no way I’m putting pjs on and off and on and off.

So naked is a luxury for kid free nights!

Scottishskifun · 09/09/2025 09:56

DH sleeps nude and prefers it. I sleep with a cammie top and underwear when it's hot and pj's in Winter.
But I'm generally up at least once in the night and don't like being cold!

Deadringer · 09/09/2025 09:59

I used to sleep naked but now that I am older and fat i wear an oversized t shirt or nightshirt with knickers. I dont really like pjs, I find them a bit stifling somehow.

Comedycook · 09/09/2025 10:02

Neither. I don't want to sleep naked...and I need the loo at night sometimes and I don't want to be wandering the hallway with no clothes on when I have teenagers. I hate PJs though...I don't even own a pair. I get hot at night and hate feeling bundled up. I haven't slept in PJ's since I was a child. I wear a slip nightie.

Idontknownowwhat · 09/09/2025 00:04

Oh no, pyjamas and knickers. If DDs BF is staying I sleep in a bra too. Incase of emergency.
But I've got a whole strange routine about over night though.
I'm told fresh pj's each night for everyone is strange. I'm told that ensuring they have their complete pj set that matches is weird (for example if their top gets wet, the top doesn't get changed, its a whole outfit change. And I get so anxious I can't sleep if the boys pj's don't match. They have exactly the same outfits, day-night, sleeping, swimming, playing.

I started off with just doing things the "right" way before bed, and it spiralled!

Yeah, my love, kindly, you need to talk to someone. Do the boys always want to be dressed identical? If one wets one top do they both have to change their entire outfit? This sounds exhausting for you

I find my body can regulate my own temperature much better when undressed so I don’t wear pyjamas nor nightie. But for some unknown reason I cannot sleep without pants on. So that’s all I wear in bed.

Same here. I've slept naked except for knickers for nearly 50 years! Knickers make me feel safe and I don't like not wearing them, but I can't wear anything else unless it's really cold (so really only when camping). I have memories of getting tangled up in nighties when I was a kid. They were nylon, too! DH will sometimes wear pants but mostly not.

Someone2025 · 09/09/2025 00:10

Sleep in Pjs and underwear, I’m 50 and my breasts haven’t sagged, I’m sure some of it is down to wearing a bra to bed

I’m 55, I’ve slept completely nude for as long as I can remember. No sagging here either.

I just can’t imagine why people wear clothes to go to bed, to me it seems so odd. But there we are.

OnceIn · 09/09/2025 10:10

I only own one set of pj’s and they get dusted off if I’m away staying with friends. Will sleep naked all year round.

ThatCyanCat · 09/09/2025 10:13

I get cold if I sleep naked, plus my husband goes nuts and I get no sleep.

LupaMoonhowl · 09/09/2025 10:14

80smusicandavoulevant · 09/09/2025 00:52

Naked. I couldn’t sleep with any form of pjs/nightdress or underwear. I find it so uncomfortable. I hate the feeling of it all twisting up and legs rising on the pj bottoms

Same.

GAJLY · 09/09/2025 10:17

I used to sleep naked, but bought nighties when the children started climbing into our bed! I much prefer sleeping naked as I feel unrestricted in movement, I do move around alot in bed.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 09/09/2025 10:18

I don't understand PJ's and knickers. Lot's of warm fanny layers can't be good at night?

Belladog1 · 09/09/2025 10:22

I find I get sweatier in bed if I'm naked. But I am menopausal !!!

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 09/09/2025 10:34

I'd love to wear PJs some nights, especially when it's hot as I like something still covering me but duvets are too thick, but I move around so much I end up waking up from the seams twisting or rolling or the hem riding up.

I always imagine people who can sleep in PJs to sleep in the Wednesday Addams vampiric slumber type pose and never move a muscle until the alarm goes off.

Icanttakethisanymore · 09/09/2025 10:37

I have small children who are often in bed with me so I sleep in pyjamas. Otherwise I would probably sleep in just knickers or knickers plus a t-shirt / vest top
