A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

THANKS EVERYONE 😁😁

@Peridot1 That is good news that it isnt the scariest result!! Inner ear issues are fairly easy to treat, I think? ❤️

Will catch up on the thread and say hey to everyone properly xx

Peridot1 · 24/12/2025 16:06

Am sitting down with all the jobs I wanted to get done done.✔️

All I still need to do is fold some laundry. Oh and move a box of decorations I have just spotted.

I even found time to cut some holly to put in a vase in the kitchen.

DH has just started cooking the ham. Well one of them. We do two small ones as DS isn’t keen on a glazed one. And the ham cooking in Christmas Eve is the smell of Christmas for me.

I have a bit of a sore throat so am taking lots of immune boosting stuff. Contemplating a Christmas movie and a Baileys.

WinterFrogs · 24/12/2025 19:52

Merry Christmas everyone ❤️
It's been and gone for us 😆 Buffet went down well, presents exchanged, everyone happy.
Cleared up, washed up, bubble bath running. Now that's what I call Christmas 🎄

Hugs and 🥂 and 🥳 to you all xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/12/2025 20:20

Hello 🩷
I'm sorry to read a few on our thread are not feeling great. Sending love. 💐🩷
Glad to know things are humming along for the most part otherwise.
The rain is back over here, so feeling very unmotivated to go out.

Haven't done laundry yet, but can toss it in anytime as mot having company over.
Got to sleep after 2:30am. Was up at 9am and hurriedly dressed to drive up to med lab to drop something off for my mum. Then another errand to med supply for my mum and was home after 11am. Have just finished a lovely warmed croissant with pistachio spread and a cafe latte with cinnamon. 😋
Watching a talk show and the kids are still in pj's. They opened the last advent window for the chocolate and I gave them an extra mini chocolate with their otherwise sensible breakfast of milk, croissant, grapes, hb egg and cheese. Will check back later. 🎄☺️

SpiritOfEdna · 25/12/2025 08:15

@mumofoneAloneandwell you dark horse you!!!! Enjoy NYC - how amazing.

Happy Christmas all. Hope the poorly ones are finally on the mend x

Merry Christmas lovelies 🩷
Another late night here. Havoc has just fallen asleep having been so excited I gave up trying and let the energy run out. 😂
So, we put out a cookie and a square of chocolate for Santa and a canvas Christmas bag beside the tree for Santa to put presents into. 🤞
Speaking of Santa, I'd better go do my part before I fall asleep. ☺️

WinterFrogs · 25/12/2025 09:11

Merry Christmas everyone ❤️

I hope you all have the best time today, however that looks for you 🥂 🎁 🍰

Peridot1 · 25/12/2025 09:37

Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you all have a lovely happy peaceful and healthy day.

SunnyViper · 25/12/2025 10:30

Merry Christmas all! Chaos has begun here with the 10 resident family opening presents. About to be invaded by extended family for breakfast and more presents, then a lull while I cook and get quietly merry whilst drinking fizz. I usually sing the Messiah while I cook but my throat is too sore year so I’ll listen and drink😂.

enjoy the rest of the day!

petalpower · 25/12/2025 11:06

Happy Christmas to everyone. Have a lovely day!

SunnyViper · 26/12/2025 13:14

I hope everyone’s day went well. Ours was remarkably smooth and the only casualties were 3 wine glasses throughout the day😂. I was knackered after eating so I retreated to the conservatory under blankets while everyone else tidied up. I was forced to play some games before retreating to bed at 10.30. Everyone else continued until 3ish and there are some sore heads this morning😂.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 26/12/2025 13:39

Hi all,

Merry Christmas. Thanks

I hope everyone had a good day. I got through the day but went to bed at 8 and slept `12 hours. Thankfully my wonderful DH knows how ill i get when i have a flare so he has been most solicitous and the DCs are equally lovely and understanding. So today is a quiet day with tv and leftovers.

Hope that the weekend brings alot of joy. @autumnangel I am sure yours was very hard this year so I am sending you love and a hug.

Peridot1 · 26/12/2025 13:53

Hi all

Having a chilled day here today. We had a nice day yesterday. Quiet as it was just the three of us. DH and I went over to the pub for a quick drink at 12. Village tradition. It’s nice and sociable. Everyone just has one drink and a chat and a catch up outside and then heads home.

We could go this afternoon to watch the Mummers (a weird English tradition of people in weird costumes beating each other with sticks - I think you need to Google it!) but can’t really be bothered.

So a quiet day it is. I’m full of a cold so lots of sneezing and vitamin C. Dinner is leftovers so easy.

Need to do a bit of a packing list for going away tomorrow. Other than tidying the kitchen etc and doing some laundry that might be the most I achieve.

Have a lovely Boxing Day all. Or Stephenses Day as we call it in Ireland!

WinterFrogs · 26/12/2025 14:45

Afternoon! @FourSeasonsLobelia I have been thinking of you 💐 Sorry you had such a nasty flare up 😔
I hope everyone else is feeling better or at least getting there!
Today, I have had a mostly fresh air filled morning, which is just how i like my Boxing Day. And now, I'm eating all the cheese 😋
Husband is at the football so it's just me and the cats. The Christmas tree lights are on the only setting that works, so they are alternating a slow fade with the strobe light effect. I may be moved to replace them in the sales. They are very old!
One of my presents was a beautifully bound notebook. I think I might jot down the simple things that worked well this year in it.
I've only just remembered that I have the book A Calm Christmas on my kindle. I may re read it soon, then again next December. I love the week between Christmas and New Year. It feels so mellow 💕 Last week I would never have coped with my crazy tree lights but today they are amusing me.
Today's project is....um...just keep the place habitable till tomorrow.
Best wishes to all. Safe travels @Peridot1

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 26/12/2025 18:04

Hello everyone. We had a nice meal yesterday with the PILs, H did most of the cooking and tidying so it was very pleasant indeed! Today H went on a random jobs mission and replaced a light bulb, cleaned the washing machine and dryer filters, and tidied up his bedside table - much appreciated. We hosted a playdate in the morning and went for a walk and an outdoor play in the afternoon. My parents arrive tomorrow!

RunningKatie · 26/12/2025 19:10

Just for you @SingleThreadJoiner2 - photo of snowman toilet roll!

Christmas has passed thus far without trauma or carnage. The dc's were content, everyone was fed etc. Phew.

Boxing Day family visit also done, now we've got 8 days with no plans. Such bliss.

Daily Project round 8
WinterFrogs · 26/12/2025 19:14

Where did you get it @RunningKatie ? Grinchy me might astonish everyone next year 😇

RunningKatie · 26/12/2025 19:35

This was thanks to Sainsbury's @WinterFrogs - it's been a tradition here for years when Wilkinson's existed and they stocked it. These days I have to remember to google for it in November and go on a hunt.
Now the dc are teens I'm not sure it's as exciting as it once was but I'll keep the tradition going as long as I can!

WinterFrogs · 26/12/2025 19:39

I think it's a very cute tradition @RunningKatie !

SunnyViper · 26/12/2025 19:47

I’m glad everyone is relaxing and enjoying the break. I remain in the conservatory while everyone is playing a new and rather complex board game. I didn’t drink too much yesterday as I was busy and still not on top form but I got a bottle of Salford rum and black as a present and it just tastes like Vimto so I’m slowly pickling myself 😂

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 26/12/2025 21:24

Love this @RunningKatie .thank you. Life changing 🤩

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/12/2025 22:00

Happy Boxing Day thread friends! 🎄🩷
Sympathy to those recovering 😉 and otherwise under the weather. 💐
Yesterday seemed to fly by with cooking, looking after and managing the kiddos.
Dinner was roasted duck, duck gravy, mashed potatoes with garlic cream, corn on the cob, bread stuffing with apple and cranberries that I remembered after we started eating and the cranberry sauce I made sat lonely on the deck forgotten. 😂 I'm not used to extras like that, so was quite happy with a gluttonous mound of mashed potatoes with duck covered in rich gravy with a piece of corn on the side. 😂

I vacuumed this morning and cleaned the fridge out a bit, cleaned out and tidied the cutlery drawer and have got bedding in the wash due to Havoc waking me at 4am after an accident. My fault as I forgot to make sure Havoc wore a pull-up to bed as not night dry yet. Oh, well. 🤷‍♀️

Safe travels to those visiting and sending wishes for rest and relaxation for all. 🩷
I will be having a warm lamb sandwich on toasted garlic baguette with cranberry sauce shortly.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 27/12/2025 08:36

Oh that meal sounds wonderful @Mumtobabyhavoc . Garlic cream mash!! Inspired!!

I am feeling a bit better today- thanks everyone. Another 12 hour sleep. I even feel like I might be able to make smug soup today and do a small daily project of picking up the litter that has been swept into our garden by the wind. There is alot of it.

Hope everyone has a lovely day Thanks

Peridot1 · 27/12/2025 09:38

Hello all.

I know I will enjoy our trip but I have to say I would much rather be staying put and enjoying the in between time of coziness and lights and good food and books and tv.

Anyway. Yesterday I did some laundry and loaded and unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. Watched the second half of Last Christmas which I had started watching the night before. With a Baileys hot chocolate that DS had bought me for Christmas. I’m not normally a hot chocolate person but it was quite nice and the Baileys definitely added to it.

Our neighbours came over for an impromptu drink with their adult children. And their dog. So we had a nice catch up.

Today is packing and tidying the house so we don’t come back to too much of a mess.

Have a good day all.

WinterFrogs · 27/12/2025 13:01

We had duck too @Mumtobabyhavoc And mashed potatoes, carrots, french beans and brussels shrouds. No gravy or garlic, but cranberry jelly 😋
@FourSeasonsLobelia i am delighted that you are feeling better 💐
You'll love it once you get there @Peridot1 😊

It does not feel anything at all like a Saturday here as DH did his football yesterday so i am quite discombobulated. Glorious though cold day. I have just hosed myself down in the shower after getting hay and shavings inside my clothes due to the brisk north wind. Just making some lunch then I intend to hibernate with a book for the afternoon.
Making some lunch consists of grabbing leftovers from the fridge, and a side of quality streets.
I need to make soup really. But i doubt I will today.
What else....oh i know, short 5 min bursts of putting things away.
