A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

How did havoc get her name @Mumtobabyhavoc ? I love it too, I picture a curly haired child running around entertaining the smiling baby who is munching on food from your plate 😄🥰

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/12/2025 18:40

It's so nice to start my day reading what everyone is up to and all the musings. 🩷☺️
We all had a very good sleep last night. I actually feel a bit human today. We've had breakfast and i've got a YT vid on for "school." It's all about the immune system. The dc are riveted! 🤓🤓

Mumofone: "Havoc" was the stage Havoc was in when I joined MN about 3 years ago; 😵‍💫 I had baby two years ago and continue to say "Baby" to distinguish the two here. I think I'll likely keep it that way. ☺️

Viper, I am so pleasantly surprised with this whole grain sourdough. 😋 It was a Costco purchase. It sounds difficult finding good tradespeople there. Is it? I think I've found someone competent, but not great about arranging to drop by. 🙄

(We're now on a reading video: "Pam has jam." )

Lobelia, I've gotten away from Wordle and the NYT games since most went to paid sub. 🙄 But, my starter is Cream.

("Dan ran to a fan.")

Winter, Havoc vacuumed one of the couches using the wand vacuum earlier. I took a picture and one of baby perched on the stacked up cushions. You sound very organized, actually.

(Havoc just asked to watch the esophagus video) 😵‍💫

Peridot, it's awful to think about all the tragic things that happen while we are blissfully unaware. It's quite unsettling. I watched the clip of the man that disarmed the one shooter. 😳 Thank God for people like him.

We had quite a storm overnight. I woke up at 3:45am to the curtain blowing straight and could hear the wind banging against buildings. It was 13c yesterday and it's been raining, often heavily, for ages now. Today it's fairly clear and temp was 4c when we woke up. We're having a dance break now:

Havoc is still my Wordle starter word. It makes me smile every day. Smile

I love this! We have a new word every day. I might go with Havoc next!

autumnangel · 17/12/2025 19:41

@SunnyViper - I saw that butter in Aldi this morning and have been thinking about it all day. Well done isolating the shower, I wouldn't have any idea how to do something like that.

@WinterFrogs - Hope you enjoyed the carol singers.
@Mumtobabyhavoc - Well done having Baby well trained to do the chores. Havoc is a girl?! I always imagine a boy and I'm not really sure why. Is Baby a boy?

@Peridot1 - I've started thinking about a trip to Australia although it won't be for a few years. It's not somewhere that's really been on my radar before but I would love to experience Christmas on the beach just once in my life.

Shopping after work unfortunately didn't go well. I've been buying gift vouchers all year to use for Christmas shopping and I left them at home and didn't want to spend any money. So tomorrow will now be a shopping day.
I've decided to miss out on tonight's bereavement support group and instead tidy the house so I'll be incredibly annoyed with myself if come 10pm I haven't been to the group and the house isn't tidy. I don't think every room has been tidy all at once since the beginning of June when DH was here. But tonight may very well be the night that it happens. I shall keep you all posted!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 17/12/2025 21:38

😄 i love it 🥰 - and I love your lively morning together! @Mumtobabyhavoc xx

I still call my dd my baby irl - then have to clarify every time that shes 6, and nearly as tall as me!

Hey everyone ❤️❤️, hope youre all well?

Our boiler has gone again so it's cold here. Waiting til tomorrow to call the landlord as we'll be home all day and I dont want to wait up until all hours tonight.

Headline news from us: Dd was in a school performance today!! The three classes of autistic children merged and some of the kids joined the teachers in singing some songs!

I never thought i'd get to attend something like that, so I was very much the proud mummy 😁😁

Dd didnt sing 😭, she was trying to get the attention of a boy (trying not to read too much into that!!) and was generally taking in her surroundings, but she didnt run off the stage or get overwhelmed, so a win 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

One girl got so excited she threw a toy into the crowd, bless her 😄😄

Will catch up on the thread properly over the weekend, my love to you all always xx

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 17/12/2025 21:50

That's so brilliant @mumofoneAloneandwell, what a milestone and how wonderful for both you and her. Congratulations D💐💐👏👏

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/12/2025 01:13

@mumofoneAloneandwell my heart us bursting for you. 🥰💗

WinterFrogs · 18/12/2025 06:46

That really is wonderful to hear @mumofoneAloneandwell 💕 🥳
I hope you are tucked up together and warm in bed. And that you get boiler fixed today 🙏

Peridot1 · 18/12/2025 08:25

Oh that’s lovely @mumofoneAloneandwell. Well done DD! (I still call DS my baby. He’s 24 and 6ft 2.)

I love that Havoc is your Wordle starter word @FourSeasonsLobelia. That’s so cute. (We are at a Christmas dinner at the Four Seasons tonight!)

I was up early to drop DS at the station and am about to head out to do some Christmas shopping at a big M&S. So not sure what tasks will get done today. This afternoon is a walk around the village delivering Christmas cards.

Have a great day all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 18/12/2025 12:28

Hope you have a wonderful dinner @Peridot1

I think so often about all of you on the thread. It feels like such a safe space in a complex world.

@mumofoneAloneandwell ❤to your DD.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 18/12/2025 13:23

Thank you everyone 🥰🥰❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/12/2025 14:09

Havoc and I have been awake since 5:30am. I've given up on going back to sleep. Getting up to make oatmeal and a pot of tea.

WinterFrogs · 18/12/2025 15:35

Mine is the same height @Peridot1 and is just so huggable. I am a foot shorter! And he's still my baby too. They are all cleverer than me and that is a bit disconcerting sometimes. The emptying of the nest definitely goes in fits and starts! I hope you have a lovely evening!

WinterFrogs · 18/12/2025 15:38

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/12/2025 14:09

Has Havoc been doing handstands on the bed while you try to convice everyone that it's not morning yet? Or peeling your eyelids apart and declaring that mummy must be awake because her eyes are open?
If so, tea and oatmeal probably are your best bet. Good decision!

Peridot1 · 18/12/2025 17:22

@WinterFrogs - sadly mine is not huggable. It’s a bit like hugging a lamppost. He submits when necessary. But only when absolutely necessary.

autumnangel · 19/12/2025 09:47

@mumofoneAloneandwell - Hope you got your boiler sorted? Well done to your DD on her school performance, I bet there wasn't a dry eye there

I love reading little snippets about everyone's lives, makes me feel like I know you all ❤I don't have any friends irl so it's always nice to come on here and 'see' you all.

Yesterday I went to Glasgow, donated blood and did some Christmas shopping. It was busy and I hated every minute of it. Then I came home and went to bed because I was so miserable so it’s safe to say I’m behind with everything but it was what I needed at the time so I’m not being too hard on myself.
This morning I’ve been to the dump and to Tesco. It’s hair wash day which is always a chore. I’m working this afternoon but before that I’d like to go a market nearby to see if I can get something to take to the graveyard for my grandparents tomorrow and some gift bags. One extra job for today is to fix the parcel shelf in my car. I’ve ordered the part I need but it’s not quite the easy job I thought it would be so hopefully there will be a YouTube video or ChatGPT will be able to help. Also need to order a prescription and put the batteries in the clock I said I was going to do a few days ago 🙄

Peridot1 · 19/12/2025 14:54

Don’t be hard on yourself @autumnangel. It’s a hard time of year anyway and harder still for some on who is so recently bereaved. It sounds like you got a lot done and have a list to tick off which is always satisfying.

We had a lovely dinner out last night. The hotel is always beautifully decorated for Christmas and it feels lovely and festive.

Had a PT session this morning which was bad planning really! And I had made a Malteaser tray bake yesterday as a Christmas present for my PT so I had to put finishing touches to that.

Nothing major planned for today. Have a towel wash on and have vacuumed and washed the utility room floor. Also sorted out some returns to post off. Will vacuum dining and sitting areas in a bit. Can’t do kitchen as DH is cooking at the moment. Bolognaise sauce for dinner.

Then I want to do something with dining area to make it a bit cosier for Christmas. ChatGPT is helping. It suggests a rug…..I’ve bought and returned two in the last month!

Hope everyone is having a good day and not too frazzled.

Girls ive been out ALL day and i'm still nowhere near ready 😫

I'm gonna have to drag dd around tomorrow and sunday now!

Thank you @autumnangel ❤️ - I like to think that we are friends here 🙂

Youre gonna be okay, but for christmas I'll be in and out of mn, cracking jokes and posting gifs so you wont be alone xx

Will catch up on the thread tonight, I promise - got to clean our living and bedroom whilst lusting over jack saunders watching the christmas number one on the bbc iplayer xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/12/2025 18:24

Good morning everyone. 🩷
It's a tough time of year for many for a lot of reasons, so my love to all of you because we need it. Friends come from all sorts of places. ☺️

School is done for the dc until 3rd week January, so a very long break. I'm hoping for snow to take the dc sledding, but it's been so warm and rainy so far.

I took the kids to Martini Town last night spur of the moment because the rain stopped. The wind, however, was still fierce on the drive out (it's been a week of storms). It was a bit unnerving going over the bridge and feeling the car pushed by the wind. I really hate driving out that way (east), I've figured out. Traffic is heavy, drivers are aggressive (well over speed limit & tail-gating). On the way home we saw the aftermath of a horrific crash.

Martini Town is a film lot used in Hallmark movies, among others, and is dressed up for Christmas with lots of decos. There are two craft market areas, a coffee bar and a few food trucks (pizza, bbq, tacos). It's like walking around a beautifully decorated neighbourhood. And Santa is there. 🎅

@SunnyViper 7 kids, christmas will be lively i imagine 🥰

@Mumtobabyhavoc baby helping hang socks is sweet - 😄 I remember the bus journeys when dd was younger, very much just saying 'sit down, sit down' on a loop. 3rd week in jan is a long holiday! Glad you got to martini town and back safely xx - it looks amazing

@Peridot1 a Malteaser tray bake sounds 🤤, as does bolognese!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments re dd - i am super proud 🥰

@WinterFrogs the boiler got repaired at about 9pm - so 12 hours after i reported it! Twas a cold day 😄 but at least we slept well

Love to everyone always - waiting on dd to sleep and might treat myself to some wine 😌 xxx

WinterFrogs · 20/12/2025 08:44

Morning all! I've just re read a lot of the thread as I've missed quite a lot by reading in a hurry 😳
So relieved that you have heating again @mumofoneAloneandwell
Hope you can get a plumber asap @SunnyViper
I saw your post about Havoc with the vacuum wand @Mumtobabyhavoc 💗
@autumnangel love to you at this tricky time of year 💕
I don't have much in the way of spoons today so that's all from me for now but love to you all.
I'm feeling gratitude for the sound of birdsong and our heating system running ❤️

Peridot1 · 20/12/2025 09:37

@mumofoneAloneandwell - this is the Malteaser tray bake. Although it’s not a bake! I find t way too sweet for me. DS likes it. So I need to make another for him.

Frosty morning here. Which might put paid to DH’s plan to plant bulbs in the garden today. Hopefully as he wants me to help and I don’t think I want to. 😄

Today’s jobs:

  • usual kitchen. In fact a bit more as it needs a good clean
  • vacuum and wash kitchen floor
  • deliver Christmas cards
  • make stuffing for Christmas Day and freeze
  • put boxes of Christmas decorations back upstairs- I’m definitely finished now
  • change a bed and wash bedding
  • wrap a few presents

Have a great day all.

WinterFrogs · 20/12/2025 13:29

That looks simple and very very tasty @Peridot1!!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 20/12/2025 14:40

That looks great @Peridot1 thank you!! Feeling very accomplished here as we have delivered Christmas cards to neighbours, finally decorated the tree, and run a cleaning cycle on the washing machine. I can't share a photo of the tree, between our very random decorations and the idiosyncratic arrangements of baubles courtesy of D it is immediately recognisable 😅

Happy weekend all

WinterFrogs · 20/12/2025 17:02

Happy weekend to you too @SingleThreadJoiner2! Lots of good accomplishments there.
We are still Christmas tree-less. It will be done tomorrow. I think it was @Mumtobabyhavoc who thought I might be a very organised person, but I am really not! I am fine when i keep life very simple, but this year has not been simple, so everything at home is a little bit chaotic.
I plan to address that next year, and between Christmas and New Year, a few long walks to clear my head.
No daily projects achieved today. I have barely been in the house, and when i have been, I have been sat on my backside reading. Dinner is baked potatoes with beans and cheese. It's that kind of a day.
Hugs all round xx
