A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

lol, the wreath got butchered and redone, new lights and bit more sparkle, less dead berries and it is finally on the door 😄

Been a bit noisy here today as house next door has been getting emptied. The family had rented there for 50+years, brought 7 kids up in a three bedroomed house, mum passed just after covid and dad ended up in hospital and then care home and the family looking after him just upped and abandoned it but I guess the owner now needs to get it back in some shape to sell, finally. Although it has been so poorly maintained over the years it will need to be gutted and there is subsidence...

Finally got the main Christmas tree, so all are in situ waiting to be decorated now.

@mumofoneAloneandwell I am going to echo the horse talk - it would be sooooo good for DD and YOU. My local riding school closed and I am still rancorous towards the local council for being the catalyst for it closing and boo when I walk past the deserted stables and paddocks with SpiritDoggo.

We had a big old tidy & clean yesterday and then SpiritDoggo slept on the sofa and left a dog-shaped pile of sand behind her.

Today

  • unravel some strings of bells - Done
  • time for SpiritDoggo's annual toy hospital - need to unstuff them, wash, restuff, sew all for them to be butchered again
  • buy some polaroid film
  • repot some plants and find a new location for them
  • need to do some AI training for work
  • bathroom confirmed for June 1st - best get saving up!
  • and the floor guy has just come back and is coming tomorrow - lol will have to do a very quick tidy up to get the floors cleaned up.
  • waiting for ChatGPT to come back with a process #twiddingthumbs
That's it for today, have a good one, SoE.

ps I am a couple of hours outside of london too 😄

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 08/12/2025 15:14

I'm an hour from London and would consider it! (but I think if we ever moved it closer to an actual plan we should go to private messages)

@SpiritOfEdna the story of the house next door is so sad, I hope it finds a new happy family soon

Aria999 · 08/12/2025 15:18

I would love to meet you all if I am in the country at the time, I fear it won't work out though.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/12/2025 16:28

Omg I will have to name change or something 😭 but agree that we'd need a private chat to arrange something

@SpiritOfEdna I am excited about the potential for horses in mine and dds lives. I found two stables, one north and one east, so will contact both to see about getting dd to have a taster day. I need to lose some weight before I ride one though, dont want the horses complaining about me 😭

Today has been a mess. Was late for school, had to queue forever at the post office to send back some joggers - want a size smaller. Then i'm waiting on a parcel which might not come, and the men who are meant to mount my tv cant come today

🙄🙄

Anyway, tidied our bedroom and the kitchen, just need to vacuum and mop tomorrow.

In bed with dd already 😭, thinking about dinner

Love to you all 🥰

Edit, @Mumtobabyhavoc your bagels looked epic 😋

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/12/2025 16:28

Good morning ☺️🩷🌧️☔️
It's raining and 8c here.
Have been awake since 6:45am, which is fine, but alarm was set for 7:45🤷‍♀️
I stayed in bed until about 7:30 then put coffee on, got breakfast ready and woke dc.
I've finished the last of the smoked tuna. Baby tried it, liked it and kept stealing it from my bagel. 😂
It has been really nice having coffee etc earlier, while still dark out. It feels so calm.
Going to rush and get baby ready for school. Havoc is ready to go.

Hope everyone is having a good day. 🩷

petalpower · 08/12/2025 17:05

Is it your neurologist appointment tomorrow @Peridot1 ? If so I hope it goes well and you get some answers or at least move forwards.
I’m just over an hour from London too.
Absolutely nothing has been achieved today as I’ve picked up some sort of lurgy. (Probably the same as DD had last week.) I’ve got a dreadful headache and ache all over so have been in bed all day. Really annoying but I know the more I rest the quicker I’ll get better. I’ve got quite a few plans for the middle and end of the week so hopefully it all passes quickly.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/12/2025 17:11

If we meet we must send photos of us via private message to @Aria999 and @Mumtobabyhavoc with a glass raised saying hi. Smile

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/12/2025 17:11

Hope things go well with the appointment @Peridot1 Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/12/2025 21:16

I'm sorry you've caught a bug. Definitely rest up Petal. 🩷💐

Mumofone, my dc, as of today, decided they liked my special bagels and not only that 😤 baby decided my smoked tuna was for sharing. 😳 Something has to be done! 😵‍💫🤦‍♀️

❄️☔️☀️🍂 Yes, definitely send me pics!!!
*get what I've done there?👆

I threw a large load of laundry in the wash before I took dc to school, so it was ready to be hung up when I got home. ✅💡
Stopped at a medical supply, followed up with insurance provider and spoke with a sales rep all for my mum, so some major tasks done today. Once I'm able to separate myself from the couch I'll make cookies with the kids.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/12/2025 07:12

It took me over 90 minutes, but I fixed the bows on the dc's reindeer ears. God it was tedious! I managed to thread the ribbon through the glued down knots then secured each with a few hidden stitches. It was a lot of time for items that cost $4 each, but damn it was the principle. The kids pulled them apart in less than an hour when I brought them home and have been begging, Mummy fix them. 😢 #1 cheap, or not, I don't want to just buy replacements #2 I think the dc will be incredibly cute if they wear them Christmas Eve and morning and most importantly, #3 I hate getting beaten and I had to try to fix the stupid things. 🤷‍♀️😂

(And I baked oatmeal choc chip pecan cookies, tightened a bunch of wall switch plates, cleaned the sliding glass door inside and out and re-hung the dc's felt Christmas trees that keep falling down. It was a productive night. 😅)

Taa daa!

crivit · 09/12/2025 07:53

Well, no windows washed and no sauce made (really should make sure I have all the ingredients before starting...). Otherwise, successes 😊

@SpiritOfEdna Sounds like it could be noisy next door for a while if it needs lots of work.

@mumofoneAloneandwell I hope you had a lovely dinner to make up for things going wrong.

@Mumtobabyhavoc I think more special bagels (hidden from little fingers) are deserved after all the calls / admin stuff. Also good work on the reindeer headwear 😁

@petalpower Get well soon. Very sensible taking to your bed rather than pushing through and making it worse.

Today for me;

  1. Yoga
  2. Gym
  3. More decorations
  4. That sauce.
  5. Kitchen work surface clear and clean.
  6. Quite a lot of work stuff.
  7. Washing load and putting away previous one.
WinterFrogs · 09/12/2025 10:43

Sorry you are unwell @petalpower Bed is definitely the best place for you!
Thinking of you today @Peridot1

I can't keep up with you all but enjoying the chat 💝

Peridot1 · 09/12/2025 12:05

Good work on the repair @Mumtobabyhavoc.

Hope you feel better @petalpower.

Im back from appointment. Having an MRI next week and will have an appointment with a balance lab which will take 3 hours as he thinks there is an issue with my inner right ear. Still feeling dizzy and not quite right. Have chiropractor appointment this afternoon for my lower back but I think there is an issue with my neck too so hopefully that might help.

Not sure much will be achieved today otherwise. I finished the Christmas decorations yesterday so will just but boxes back upstairs and maybe do a load of laundry.

WinterFrogs · 09/12/2025 16:34

I hope they can get to the bottom of it @Peridot1 ❤️
Excellent work on the antlers @Mumtobabyhavoc!
Sympathies for your difficulties yesterday @mumofoneAloneandwell
@crivit I had to double check that your post wasn't one of mine! Writing a list and not having food ingredients happens to me quite a lot. Also , long list of home jobs with 'quite a lot of work stuff' shoehorned in made made me laugh. Familiar!

Home is fairly Christmas-free at the moment. It's all happening elsewhere, especially at Mum's care home, and littlest's house which looks like Santa's grotto. And every time you step out the door, really, so I'm just letting it all unfold around me.
When I get asked if I'm ready for Christmas I nod and smile, and say I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Quite a good natured response given my deep held irritation about the whole thing I think 😇 I do try not to inflict it on anyone else!

Dinner is leftovers so that's easy! I could hoover and put some laundry away but I'm quite keen to stick my nose in a book. I have done some washing for mother, who is convinced the laundry staff have shrunk some of her clothes by tumble drying them.

Think I'll set a time for 15mins x2, and do what i can then I can read guilt-free! I've been on phone calls quite a bit today so silence calls!

Hello @RunningKatie lovely to see you 👋

Aria999 · 09/12/2025 20:57

Belated hello and welcome to the thread @crivit ! Yes thanks it's been totally pain free, to the extent I have completely forgotten to avoid things that could get stuck in it like seeds... so far no complications though!

@Mumtobabyhavoci am just the same about not being beaten by fixing things. DS has a D&D figure he cares about whose arm has snapped, which I have now glued 3 times, the most recent time with a pin in it also. The most recent time was just after I had decided this was a complete mugs game and ordered a replacement 😁

@WinterFrogs I didn't realize you were a grinch! I used to be very grumpy about Christmas but DH is gradually weaning me off my bah humbug attitude and I secretly quite like it now in places.

ooh good luck with the horses @mumofoneAloneandwell. I wouldn't worry too much about losing weight, they can always pick out a bigger horse for you if necessary. I doubt you weigh as much as a man in plate armor and knight horses used to cope!

get well soon @petalpowerand @Peridot1

today I was going to Book Travel but I decided to Sort Out Christmas Presents instead and it's lucky I did because half way through the morning our weekend away babysitter for February informed me that she's not willing to sit if the kids are ill, even a slight cold, which basically rules out the next 4 months...

petalpower · 09/12/2025 21:17

Good news that the neurologist thought they had an explanation @Peridot1 and further investigations have been arranged.
I have done absolutely nothing today apart from have a shower part way through the afternoon. Felt totally wiped out by just doing that so have cancelled a lunch plan for tomorrow. I haven’t felt like eating anything at all either. So annoying as there’s lots I need to be getting on with.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 09/12/2025 21:25

I sat in front of a screen more or less constantly from 10.30 to 5 today, and it was almost all meetings where I had to be on camera and actively participate. It was exhausting and my eyes were sooooore by the end! Tomorrow is entirely an on-site day to balance it out 😊 the only job work stuff I managed was to finalise details for the big PTA Christmas event coming up. There's a mum who's really stepped up her volunteering and we work really well together so it doesn't feel like too much of a chore.

@WinterFrogs I am with you on Christmas but D and H love it SO MUCH that I have no choice...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/12/2025 07:07

Peridot, I'm really glad you are getting things checked out. ☺️
Petal, just give your body the rest it needs.🩷
Single, sounds like an awful work day in a meeting like that. Yea to progress on Christmas event planning. 🤗
Aria, Valiant effort on the DD figurine repairs. Tenacious! 😃
Winter, now that I don't see extended family at Christmas it is a lot better.

I'm prwtty much falling asleep so, I'm heading to bed. Changed m mind on Netflix.

Today:
vacuumed
washed kitchen floor
sorted dc's shoes to donate; ten pairs, 🤗washed 5.
took my mum to ent today.
made a pizza for dinner.

Peridot1 · 10/12/2025 09:45

Morning all.

Had appointment with chiropractor yesterday too and my neck was definitely out of sorts. And apparently I hold my shoulders up and need to relax them more. Definitely feel better after the appointment.

Today’s list:

  • tidy bathrooms and landing for cleaner coming
  • usual kitchen tidy and wipe around
  • laundry
  • put boxes away which I didn’t do yesterday
  • new rug for under dining table arrived so might try to put that down
  • have dental hygienist appointment this afternoon and will do a bit of Christmas shopping too

Have a great day all.

In heaven: in bed, electric blanket on full blast, This Morning on the TV, two hours until I leave and get back to reality 🥰🥰

Left to my own devices, I would have done something very similar today! Sounds lovely 😍 Instead I have been doing work errands and been to a meeting regarding my mother.
I have washing out on the line amd I'm very pleased about that!
I must get dinner started because whatever I cook tastes better when it is prepared ahead of time, and I have plans for a slowly cooked curry today.

WinterFrogs · 10/12/2025 13:45

I really hope that your migraines are more about your wonky neck than anything neurological @Peridot1 🙏 I am so pleased to hear that you feel a bit better!

How are you feeling @petalpower ? Do you think it might be flu? Lots of talked about it this year. I had the vaccination for the first time ever after hearing so much about the current nasty strain. I hope you are on the mend!

Yesterday sounds extremely wearying @SingleThreadJoiner2 I hope your day on site is better!

Hope you slept well @Mumtobabyhavoc 😴

I need to go and write lists! Or this afternoon will run away with me!

Busted!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 10/12/2025 13:59

Waving to all. Reading but not posting as have annoying things to be getting done and appointments.

Love to all. Hugs to all who are unwell. Thanks

petalpower · 10/12/2025 14:09

Still feeling rotten @WinterFrogs . Headache and whole body ache turned into stomach and back pains, now have D and V. (Hope no one’s eating their lunch!). It came on quite suddenly on Sunday afternoon which I think is the same as flu but don’t have any cold type symptoms. Had my flu jab this year. Whatever it is it’s a dreadful bug and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Have had to cancel two pre Christmas lunches with friends - am selfishly hoping to be well enough for my haircut and colour on Friday but at the moment going downstairs is enough of a challenge.
