A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

I mean other projecters on the thread - @Peridot1 anyway

Peridot1 · 07/12/2025 15:00

Good music taste @WinterFrogs. My listening age was 22. I’m 61! I went through a Harry Styles phase over the summer…….. rest of my listening was Fleetwood Mac, Daisy Jones and the Six, Teddy Swims and Jelly Roll. DH ‘s listening age is 26 for some reason! I haven’t heard of most of the stuff he listens to.

I was a big Enid Blyton fan too as a child. Haven’t heard of your pony books though - I would probably have enjoyed them. Also segued to Flowers in the attic eventually.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/12/2025 15:35

@FourSeasonsLobelia 🥰 it is nice for the vibes, its nice just walking up the high streets

But Oxford circus on a Saturday evening, omg, it was rammed. I think as well that we didnt really have a plan - as long as you have an idea where youre going, of specific restaurants and coffee shops and the tube stations, you'll be alright

The ritz was lovely!

Will get you guys a tree pic but need to get baubles for the big tree. Loving seeing all of yours! 🎄🥰 - @Peridot1 that tree is epic! - definitely visit Oxford circus, just take plenty of sit breaks and expect everything to take ages!

@WinterFrogs what a good mix - of the fantastic artists on that list, I love Robbie Williams the most 😁😭

I need to check up on that thread - my age was in the 50s iirc - all the sade i listen to to sleep.

Are the horses yours @WinterFrogs or is it a community thing? I think i want to get dd into riding next year (and maybe even myself if I can stick to a diet long enough!) - I hear theyre excellent judges of character

FourSeasonsLobelia · 07/12/2025 15:53

FWIW @mumofoneAloneandwell horses are the best, most magnificent thing to get a DD into. Extraordinary animals and a mostly wonderful community. I have shed more tears into a horses mane with comforting results than any other tears I have shed. As a teen girl- the ability to be at one with such a strong, sensitive animal made me feel at peace with the world- made me feel at peace with my growing and developing body- taught me resilience, love and strength.

Did I mention- 5 stars highly recommend? Smile

WinterFrogs · 07/12/2025 16:03

I like a bit of Harry Styles too @Peridot1 but I've been playing a favourite playlist on an almost continuous loop since Feb! I have not heard of the other ones you mention. My top album was Jesus Christ Superstar which I went to see a couple of years ago, and played consistently for a while.
I can only agree with @FourSeasonsLobelia about horses. Absolutely perfectly put so I have no need to add to it @mumofoneAloneandwell I volunteer with horses now but I used to work with them and had my own for a while.
There are some projects going on in and around the city where humans work alongside horses to support children with sen and their families. I'll see what I can find for you as it's a big interest of mine, if you are interested?

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/12/2025 16:18

Oh @WinterFrogs thats so kind of you 🥺 - I am definitely interested!

I will make dd's noodles and then take a look through the link ❤️

@FourSeasonsLobelia I think dd will love having a horse as a friend. That was the intention behind getting dcat as well, and she does have a bond with her

Ive heard that horses are very intelligent as well, so will understand her sweet soul.

She's gentle with the cat, and one of her chores now is to put out her dry food every morning - that bit she isnt too fussed about but I think repetition is key

Sorry for the many edits xx

Peridot1 · 07/12/2025 16:37

A friend of mine is a therapist and she does equine therapy. Says it’s amazing.

@WinterFrogs - love Jesus Christ Superstar. I used to have a copy cassette of it when we lived in Bangkok. Fakes everywhere there. I used to list to that a lot. And I have always loved Fleetwood Mac. Almost had a custody battle over MY Rumours album when I left home as my Dad wanted me to leave it.

Teddy Swims is good. Definitely worth a listen.

WinterFrogs · 07/12/2025 16:50

Equine therapy is amazing @Peridot1 I'd have loved to train to do it but it's very costly to do so.
What's your favourite track on JCS? I love Damned For All Time and Pilate And Christ. Will look at Teddy Swims as we seem to have the same taste in a a lot of things.
@mumofoneAloneandwell ponies communicate beautifully with non verbal children, but you need the right humans to facilitate it 💕 And just simply being around them soothes the soul!

Peridot1 · 07/12/2025 17:08

I think I might have to relisten to it @WinterFrogs as it’s been a long time. I think my favourite was I Don’t Know How To Love Him.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/12/2025 17:10

There are two riding schools not too far from me - about an hour's drive. Will get dd to try a few taster sessions and see how she copes. I think she will like riding horses and ponies 🤭 but agree will need a patient instructor @WinterFrogs 🥰

Will look into equine therapy @Peridot1, maybe they have something near us

Also, teddy swims is amazing ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/12/2025 18:32

Twenty. Four. New. Posts. 😵‍💫
Ok. Will start catching up now.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 07/12/2025 18:39

OOOh! (slightly off topic-) DH has offered to get me tickets to the London International Horse Show at Olympia for Christmas!

I'll have to travel up to London and stay in a Premier Inn. Most exciting!

Mine too mine too!
OK embarrassing story moment - I LOVE LOVE LOVE JCS and when I was in secondary school there was a touring production in my city in my home country (not an English speaking one) starring Carl Anderson as Judas as he was in the film. I took two friends to see it and we waited by the stage door and when he came out my friends urged me to say something since I knew English and they didn't.

"Carl! Carl! Wow! So good!"

That is all I managed to say, I was so overcome. My friends refused to believe I was capable of speaking English for a long time after that 😜🤣

WinterFrogs · 07/12/2025 19:15

Have fun @FourSeasonsLobelia 🐴

🎄🌟I went years ago on a coach with the pony club, and again with some friends about ten years ago I think. A friend of mine has qualified for one of the showing classes this year. She's really excited!

WinterFrogs · 07/12/2025 19:20

That's so funny @SingleThreadJoiner2 I'd probably be the same! I saw the recent tour and Julian Clary played Herod. He was absolutely perfect in the role!

Hello all, loved reading back 2 pages, can't go further back than that - got to help dc1 with their escape room advent calendar.
Not the brightest idea I've had this year
Other than that we're powering along, 9 working days then I'm off for 2 weeks. The house is organised chaos and I've just had a present cancelled so I thought I was done but not now.
Hope everyone is well x

Peridot1 · 07/12/2025 21:58

That is funny @SingleThreadJoiner2!

@FourSeasonsLobelia - that sounds amazing. Even if I’m not a horse person. But we could maybe try to meet up?…

I think some of us could manage a meet up. Is that a good idea or are we better as we are?

I am an hour from London by train.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/12/2025 22:59

I could try to make a meet up work 👀, I would have to bring dd though xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/12/2025 23:25

Hello again. ☺️ I just woke up from a THREE HOUR NAP. (3 1/2 to be precise)
Interesting that my last post was that I was going to read the thread to catch up... won't comment on whether or not that was the catalyst. 😂

I had a massive breakfast earlier, though, and have just finished another bit. I made pancakes for the dc and while I was doing that I sipped a latte and ate smoked tuna on rosemary rock-salt bagels (with cream cheese) I bought from Siegel's last night. These are my favourite and last night I lucked out and they were freshly made, so chewy and slightly crunchy on the outside and very fluffy on the inside and still warm. I ate one in the car before driving us home. I will be eating the rest of them (now just 3) with remainder of the tuna.

I would absolutely love to be part of a meet-up to go to the theatre etc!!! Everyone sounds so lovely. I haven't been to the UK, but would love to visit.

No major tasks to report. I will start wrapping presents this week for both Christmas and baby's birthday soon after. I might have to buy one more for baby. 🧐
Everything is tidy here, but there is so much to do that I've continued to put off. I have to get my act together in that regard. 🙈

Havoc has asked to go to the Christmas train in Surrey, so I will look into that. We haven't done that before, but we go to the Halloween and Easter train events there.

Siegel's Bagels - Our Story

@Aria999 Hope the wisdom tooth healing is going ok.

@SingleThreadJoiner2 Top quality guesting there, tidying and washing before they go!

@mumofoneAloneandwell Yoiks, Oxford Circus on a Saturday sounds hellish. Well done for even trying that.

Fortunately my cat just eats what they're given. She's a grazer so it's always dried food but I do splurge on organic for her 😁 Plus, she demands a look and sniff of all my food, obviously.

My comfort childhood books are St. Clares and a little Mallory Towers (still dream of going to boarding school) but mostly the Anne books.

I did ok-ish on my last list but then was away for the weekend. Today I need to drink coffee (currently in progress) plus;

  1. Buy some battery operated lights. I have solar and mains to hand but my battery ones have disappeared 🤔
  1. Gym.
  1. Yoga (done).
  1. Make a vat of cheesy sauce for meals during the week.
  1. Some window washing.
  1. Kick on with decorating (including the windows, hence the washing first).
  1. Buy some elbow bands.
Peridot1 · 08/12/2025 10:29

Morning all.

Those bagels look delicious @Mumtobabyhavoc! I love a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Might have to get some.

We had our neighbours in for dinner last night so I am in midst of the kitchen/dining tidy up. Dishwasher has just gone on. I love the tidy up after having people over weirdly. Will finish off and vacuum as they brought their hairy dog.

I did some more Christmas stuff yesterday and put boxes back upstairs. Today I want to do the mantelpiece in the living room and maybe the outside lights if DH has time.

Have some laundry on too. And need to arrange to have some ironing picked up. Can’t be bothered doing it myself. And the lady in the village who does it is advertising so I think she will appreciate it.

This afternoon my plant is to watch a Christmas movie and write Christmas cards.

Have a great day all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/12/2025 11:33

Morning!

I would love a meet up. I am about 2 hours from London. We must make it a plan. Smile

I am rethinking my Olympia trip though..... it will end up costing a couple of hundred what with trains, tickets and accommodation. I'm not sure I can justify the hit to the family finances.... for various reasons we are losing a large chuck of our income for some months- hopefully only 6 months or so.

I'm going to discuss it with DH again today. I know he will say 'Go!!'. A few years back to went to the Windsor Horse show for same sort of reason- something i have always wanted to do.

Proper bagels @Mumtobabyhavoc ... bliss!

Must dash- meeting someone in 10 mins and am running late!

Hugs to all/ Thanks
