A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

Yes @WinterFrogs . We really miss senior petaldog and I keep expecting to see her wandering about :(
She had a good life though and we gave her lots of love during her time with us after dad went into the nursing home.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2025 21:43

Ok. Have just washed a section of the hallway *floor on hands and knees using a microfibre cloth wet with hot water and dish soap. Then rinsed cloth and went over the area again to remove any soap residue. Sweating now. 🥵
Kids have watched about 45 mins, or so, of educational vids (the anatomy was very interesting!) and we're ready to head out.

*the bit by bit approach/manageable chunks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/11/2025 02:12

We have our tree!!!!
Just finished dinner; my mum is cleaning up; then I'm popping out for groceries. The plan is to decorate and have hot apple cider and stollen once the tree is decorated. 🤞
Must hurry before the kids crash!!!!! 🏃‍♀️💨

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/11/2025 06:56

Whew! 😅

Looks lovely @Mumtobabyhavoc.

I think you should have a landing pad @FourSeasonsLobelia. That would definitely surprise DH when he gets back……..

@petalpower - I still expect to see our dog wander in after a year. They leave such a hole in our lives.

A lazy day planned here. I’ve done dishwasher and kitchen. Will give the lights over the island another clean as they are a bit smeary. Although DH suggested last night that we replace them as they are hard to clean and dust etc collects in crevices I can actually clean.

Am about to hang up a load of laundry. Then as it’s lovely here today I’m going to take dead plants out of planters by front door ready for red cyclamens and ivy for Christmas. Garden centre trip tomorrow maybe.

We are out for 80th birthday drinks this afternoon and have to walk home past the pub so have booked dinner there.

Oh - for the indecisive ADDrs amongst us (like me who never knows where to start) I read something that I thought might be helpful for me so though I’d pass it on. If you have things to do and don’t know where to start make a list of six things. Number from 1 to 6. Throw a dice and whatever number comes up do that task. Just need to find a dice…..

Have a great Sunday all.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/11/2025 14:31

Happy sunday everyone 🎄❄️

Took dd on the bus to the high road to grab some grapes for me and donuts for her

Very happy to get out of the flat tbh, just for some air. Wore my new coat which made me feel good

Done two loads of laundry, with the third in the machine. Dd's hair is done, uniform ready for tomorrow

Home now, so gonna relax and then make dd some french fries

@Mumtobabyhavoc your christmas is starting off well, amazing photos!

❤️ to all and to beloved dogs xx

petalpower · 23/11/2025 16:37

It’s been a really lovely, quiet, relaxing weekend here. The last four weekends we’ve had people either staying for the weekend or over for dinner (our choice, not moaning!) so it’s been nice to take things easy. The weather has been a bit cold and wet so I haven’t felt guilty about lighting the wood burner early! DD is back from visiting the oldies this evening and I’m hoping DH will go to pick her up from the station whilst I watch Strictly! I’ve started my Christmas cards this afternoon and am aiming to write some each day this week.

WinterFrogs · 24/11/2025 07:37

Oh i like the dice suggestion @Peridot1 ! Might give that a whirl 😊
Lovely pics @Mumtobabyhavoc 😍
@Aria999 I could never get anything done with children around either. I hope they feel better soon 💕

☕️ 🍰 🤗 to everyone!

I'm off today after a very lazy weekend so I plan to get things done around the house and also visit my mum. I need a flylady reset really so that is my project for today.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/11/2025 07:40

I need a reset also really.

I want to finish wrapping the presents I already have.

I have LOTS of washing to do as hot chocolate was spilled on bedding. [rolls eyes]

Hope everyone has a great day.

WinterFrogs · 24/11/2025 07:42

What i would really like to do is teleport us all to a snug café and sit down for a chat over coffee and cake.
This fred does feel a bit like that ❤️

Peridot1 · 24/11/2025 08:49

@WinterFrogs - that would be lovely. There would be a lot of chat!

@petalpower your weekend sounds lovely. Jealous of your wood burner. We took be out last year and I’m regretting it although we never used it - it was in the living room which gets too warm just from the underfloor heating.

@Aria999 - Hope everyone is on the mend. You have Thanksgiving this week don’t you? Hope it’s lovely.

I need a reset too. I started cleaning bedrooms two weeks ago and did one and a half and came to a halt when I got the flu and all the cleaning stuff is still lying on the floor of the landing. I have zero Christmas presents bought - although only need for DH and DS. No clue what to get though. No Christmas cards written. And I really want to get the decorations down to look through and decide what to put up. I’m going to keep it fairly simple. Still two trees but not so much other stuff around.

Feeling a bit fragile this morning as went for birthday drinks and then to the pub for dinner and lots from the birthday drinks event ended up at the pub. So we were there later than planned. Not a good idea on a Sunday night!

So list for today:

  • usual kitchen sort out but easier than normal as dishwasher is fairly empty
  • laundry
  • walk - need to get back into routine
  • get back to upstairs cleaning - windows today so I can bring all the stuff downstairs
  • charity bags to car and drop them off today
  • buy some proper supportive waterproof walking boots - my wellies are not great for long walks
  • order medication
  • order lights for around bifold doors
  • write Xmas card for friend in Australia and post

Usual long steam of consciousness from me! Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/11/2025 09:05

I'm awake watching Parenthood on Netflix. I am so invested in this series and a message flashed on the last episode that it will be dropped Dec 14. So, now I have to binge it and I hate rushing through a good series.

Today: washed bedding and changed sheets on one bed; cleaned bathroom except mirror and vanity lights 🙄; cleaned my lanterns, fixed the lights I had inside as they were tangled and changed batteries (yea! But still want to re-paint them); wiped food off the floor (on-going); folded and put away clothes; ordered another Christmas present for Havoc; and tidied the kids' toys.

Sending love and support to everyone. 🩷

I'd love that @WinterFrogs . Although Saturday night did feel a bit like a massive piss-up at the pub. Grin

Peridot1 · 24/11/2025 12:36

It did a bit @FourSeasonsLobelia - complete with flashing lights! 😄

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 24/11/2025 13:35

Hello hello
I certainly could not keep up with the messages over the weekend 😁 but I did admire the photos! A good weekend was had here too, lots of family and friends stuff, H made the Christmas cake, and an impromptu playdate for D late on Sunday afternoon - when the house was very much NOT company ready, just grateful that these are good enough friends by now that we didn't have to be tooooo embarrassed about it (but definitely somewhat embarrassed).

D did a lot of clearing out of sticker and colouring books at the weekend so I think my main project task today is to sort out what can be donated and what has to be chucked.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week!

Peridot1 · 24/11/2025 14:27

Jobs (extra) achieved today - upstairs windows, frames and sills all washed, coffee machine de-scaled, filter in kettle changed and I’m in process of cleaning the microwave. 😇

mumofoneAloneandwell · 24/11/2025 16:38

Happy new week everyone 🎄❄️❤️

This group does feel like a cosy chat in a pub - i consider you my girls! (And guys if there are any. I'll suspend my usual scepticism towards that gender in this instance 😒🤭)

Today I was out all day picking up parcels, and meeting with teachers. Had a browse in Curry's to check out the new tech.

Got myself a new cardigan (I've succumbed to the leopard print trend and couldnt be happier) and also a fur coat, so if you see a kat slater wannabe wondering around, thats me!

This new week its clean clean clean until the flat is sparkling - its my birthday on Friday 🥰

Love to you all always xx

Aria999 · 24/11/2025 16:58

I love a bit of leopard print too @mumofoneAloneandwell, I am glad it seems still to be going strong such that all the leopard print I bought last year doesn't look too dated yet! I fear it may mark me out inescapably as a middle aged mum but that is after all what I am 🙂🤷‍♀️

yes @Peridot1 it is thanksgiving so the kids are off all week. DH is away till Wednesday and it's his birthday on Thursday so I am not allowed to do the Christmas tree till after!

Netflix are so annoying the way they just drop things that you still want to watch @Mumtobabyhavoc! Hope you get to finish it!

agree @WinterFrogsthis group is basically my substitute for an actual coffee and cake framework which I sadly lack in real life currently.

lol re helicopter landing table @FourSeasonsLobelia😁

i spontaneously dyed my hair dark brown on Friday morning in my last few moments of kid free time. I have not died my own hair since I was at university so this may be the start of the mid life crisis. I can't decide if I like it or not (though in any case am stuck with it now!). It's a bit startling. Should probably have gone for a less dramatic shade...

FourSeasonsLobelia · 24/11/2025 10:34

I'd love that @WinterFrogs . Although Saturday night did feel a bit like a massive piss-up at the pub. Grin

It did a bit 😂
I'm oh so staid suggesting coffee and cake. Showing my age 😳
I have The Snowman on in the background whilst cooking, and littlest is sitting at the kitchen table with a Christmas activity book 💕 ⛄️ 🎄
Good jobs jobbed @Peridot1 I am impressed! I'll be Mo Harris to your Kat @mumofoneAloneandwell
Didn't make it to my mother's. Day off turned into a 'not' day off by 11am due to staff going sick. Luckily I hadn't told her I was going, and she's seen other family members over the weekend.

Ed because I meant grandma Mo not little Mo

mumofoneAloneandwell · 25/11/2025 17:08

@WinterFrogs you can definitely be little mo if you want - only less troubled! Hope your mum is well

@Aria999 life is for living, and nothing symbolises that more than leopard print imo! I bet the hair looks good, chocolate brown is very in right now too

Today I took like 10 bags of recycling and stuff to the dump. It was all piled up in dd's room (she sleeps with me) so glad to have made a start on clearing it

Painted a wall last night, which is all dry now. Took of the living room door as its just in the way - will look on Pinterest on ideas to make the most out of the empty doorway - but a lovely man came and collected the door for his houseboat, which I thought was cool

Now just in bed on the electric blanket - need to get up and prep dd's noodles for dinner

Hope youve all had a lovely one 💗❄️

Peridot1 · 25/11/2025 17:25

Hi all.

I love leopard print too. It’s classed as a neutral these days apparently. I’m currently wearing leopard print jeans. They are cheap ones from Sainsburys last year and have faded a bit so might invest in some better ones.

I don’t have a coffee and cake gang either @Aria999. I used to but not since we moved. I do miss that.

Not much achieved here today. I went into a local town for a bit of shopping and to get my hair cut. Was hoping to get a start on some Christmas shopping but other than a book about compost for DH I didn’t get anything.

It’s also DH’s birthday today so I did sort his present and I wrote two Christmas cards to send to Australia and posted them and bought stamps. That’s the some total of my achievements today!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 25/11/2025 17:45

I posted a gift to Australia today. It was this.

https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-wonderful-wizard-of-oz-interactive-minalima-edition/l-frank-baum//9780063055735?sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=626889&awc=3787_1764092667_60f4c5d574527a85cecc50bde8e53983&utm_source=626889&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=adstrong

It looks so lovely and I hope that the godchild it is destined for loves it. She is into Wicked apparently.

WinterFrogs · 25/11/2025 19:12

I crossed posted with you yesterday @Aria999 and didn't see yours, sorry!
Happy Thanksgiving week!
I was dark brown for years, but now it fades very quickly so I embraced the grey ( annoyed by the grey but not enough to do anything about it)
I have a leopard print top which I wear with a black jacket sometimes. I also have a leopard print scarf but i don't wear it with the top.
I have a small coffee and cake gang but I mostly meet friends individually. Partly because everyone is so busy that if you try to make a date when everyone is free then it just doesn't happen.

Loving the compost book idea @Peridot1 I have a couple more presents to get and none to send. I hope godchild loves the book @FourSeasonsLobelia
We too have a tendency to remove doors @mumofoneAloneandwell One, I would like to make into an archway.

I've been hither and thither today, and tasks included soothing my mother regarding her inability to manage her online banking, and handling that for her, and putting air in my tyres. I've barely been home and big cat wasn't impressed about being outside all day. He is very fluffy and he has a couple of beds in sheltered places, plus he's a bit of a six dinner Sid so he's fine, just rather annoyed. DH is reluctant to put a catflap in so cats are either In or Out. Always in at night though.
Human dinner is also running a bit late. GP surgery have redeemed themselves and got dh an appt today direct from their app, which made a refreshing change.
I think an early night is in order.
'See' you all tomorrow, sweet dreams ✨️

Aria999 · 25/11/2025 19:40

@Peridot1i had no idea leopard print jeans were a thing! I kind of want some now, only the increasing middle age stomach flab tends to push me towards high waist wide band yoga pants these days. I still like the idea of jeans but sitting down in them is uncomfortable!

Peridot1 · 26/11/2025 09:00

@Aria999 - yes there are lots around here. I’m sure you could find some with a bit of stretch. Totally understand about the sitting down in them!
