A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

Mumofone, sorry to hear your dd is sick. I hope she recovers quickly. Cuddling helps.. 🩷
My mum is her usual self now. Thanks for asking. 🩷
Petal, sounds like bit of a tough task your vet visit today. 💐
Spirit, sound like a lovely weekend planned AND snow - in mid November! 😍

Did some running around looking for a tree to buy. It's a bit early. Internet tells me most lots and charities start selling next weekend.
Kids fell asleep once we arrived at the 2nd place, a garden centre, so I left them to sleep and popped inside. It was a bit shi-shi (sp?). iykwim: trees hanging about a foot off the ground in rows by category and price. You pick the one you want, you're able to see all sides, they cut it down and take it out to your car. The ones I was looking at were about $119, roughly 6ft. 🙄
I might be stuck in 2019, but I think over $75 is a gouge. I know I'm going to pay more than I'd like to, though....

Other than that I folded and put away clothes and washed and hung up a load. I put some pictures into sleeves and a binder (last night) which was an "extra." And ended up washing part of the floor after baby knocked over a mug of hot chocolate breaking the cup. 🤦‍♀️

WinterFrogs · 22/11/2025 10:00

Hello everyone. I have enjoyed catching up, this lovely chill Saturday 💕
I'm sitting up in bed and my view is of rooftops, treetops and birds. Looks like a cold wind! Big boy cat is keeping my legs warm!
What lovely pictures @SpiritOfEdna 😍

I have had a busy work and social week, so I have very homey plans for the weekend. I'm not on horse duty but I may go up and hang out with them, and lend a hand, just to get some fresh air. My garden needs some attention though, but it's not quite as alluring as pony breath. But it'll be more solitary which might do me good. Cat and I will give it some thought.
Cats need flea treatments and that will offend them. So I'm putting it off.
Must book some appointments for myself and mother.
We're still not company ready.
Not that we're expecting Company. But I'd like to have a bit of a tidy and clean. The fridge is gleaming. Just as well as dh has gone to the supermarket.

Might finish Christmas shopping online.

Have a great, if cold, Saturday 💐

Peridot1 · 22/11/2025 10:33

Morning all.

Hope DD is better @mumofoneAloneandwell.

I would love a real tree @Mumtobabyhavoc but am allergic so fake here all the way. And then there was the year before I realised I was allergic and bought a very expensive real tree and had it delivered as DH refused to put it in the new car. And even with prepping it correctly and watering it it shed like you would not believe. Was almost at point of buying a new one by Christmas Eve!

@petalpower - I can’t say much Christmas cleaning was achieved….story of my life!

@WinterFrogs our garden needs attention too but it’s too wet and miserable here today.

Not much planned. Need to do some laundry as per usual. Was up early as electrician was due to arrive at 8am. He arrived at 8.30. Which is better than yesterday when he was supposed to be here at 1pm and showed up at 3.45. I did say “Gosh is it 1 o’clock already?” I think he was a bit embarrassed.

Had neighbour over last night with her hairy dog as her DH was hosting a whiskey night. So I definitely need to vacuum. And I will do something from yesterday’s list. Maybe!

Have a great day all

oh - lovely photos @SpiritOfEdna!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 22/11/2025 10:44

@Mumtobabyhavoc @Peridot1 i am hoping to buy a real one this year for the first time and they seem so expensive!! (Glad your mum is okay mumtobabyhavoc xx)

@SpiritOfEdna those photos are lovely!

@WinterFrogs I love to look at the sky first thing in the morning, just relaxes me

@petalpower dont make the mistake I have in the past of leaving the deicer in the car 😭 - the lid was stuck to the bottle, completely useless

Dd is fine thanks, I think she was feeling the cold 🥰

Today is just completely chilled. Still havent gotten rid of these bloody armchairs 🙄 - thinking of putting them outside and seeing if anyone takes them overnight but will have to do it tomorrow night as its due to rain today

Have a lovely cosy one all ❤️

SpiritOfEdna · 22/11/2025 11:30

SpiritDoggo was not keen to go any further..and scarpered out the water

Spiritdoggo is not daft @SpiritOfEdna ! There are very hardy souls out there! I would love to go cold swimming and i have no excuse really as we are near the sea. I've gone in a bit during the summer and i believe the sea itself isn't that much colder in November. I do have a daily brief cold shower, which has become part of habit stacking.
I am still in my bed! On third cuppa a just had a packet of crisps.
I feel no shame!
@mumofoneAloneandwell I used to love having my kids piled in bed with me. Make the most of it 💕 Cosy and stories and drawing and nonsense rhymes. Just lovely!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2025 12:19

Oh, Peridot! So, no forest walks either?
I shake the shit outta the tree to get all the loose needles off and thoroughly vacuum at the car wash afterward using their vacuums.
I put the tree outside on the deck, covered in lights, for the holidays. Have done so for years.

Spirit, absolutely love the beach pic and bravery of the cold! Are you Scottish????😁

Froggy, sounds lovely for a Saturday.

Was just up with the kids for a middle of the night bathroom break. Back to sleep now!!! 🤞

Took the kids to Glow in Langley on Thursday night. It's a huge walk-through holiday light display, out doors with food trucks and a craft market; indoors pic with Santa, train ride past more displays, playground area, plant sale. Bought 4 poinsettias at 2 for $5. It's quite amazing.

That does look very pretty @Mumtobabyhavoc 😍
I've barely made it out of my bed today. Feeling a bit lazy now! I've been so busy though, and nothing is pressing today really.

I have MNd a little more than is good for a person today. I am endlessly fascinated at how differently people perceive life. And how defensive some are over their beliefs. Clothing thread, I'm looking at you. See also: Christmas ones. And the size of ones house, and how people should behave.

I think if we'd had MN when my children were small it would have blown my brains!

I also took a rare peep at fb then deleted it in disgust.

I really need to get out of the house while it's still daylight!

Hope you're all relaxing!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 14:59

Hello all- hope you get the rest of the night sleep, @Mumtobabyhavoc .

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pics of Spiritdoggo. ! I'll take a photo of LobeliaCat 2 avoiding the rain in a mo. If I can locate her that is.

Hope everyone is well and safe, and that all our ill loved ones are better and warm and content.

Things are fine here. We have a pigeon stuck in our chimney and DH is wielding his trusty chimney brush to get it out. Problem is that I came inside from chimney-watch just as he may have got it out so did not witness the exit and now we are not 100% sure it is out, or just flattened itself against the bricks on the inside to avoid said chimney-brush. So we are giving it an hour and then will have another look.

I have not yet ordered the skip. I am waiting for DH's confirmation dates re being in London. It is a stealth decluttering exercise. Grin I think it was what- 2 years ago when I last skipped stuff? The whole saga was played out on this thread anyway! Grin

Love to all. xx

WinterFrogs · 22/11/2025 15:02

Oh that does not sound relaxing at all @FourSeasonsLobelia Poor old pigeon. I hope he finds safety somewhere.
I do remember your skip thread 😁

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 15:11

LobeliaCat2!

She moved herself from window to under DH's lamp on his desk.

These threads have been going for a long old while @WinterFrogs !! I am so glad you started them up again. They have brought me a very great deal of pleasure and comfort over the - well- years!!!!

WinterFrogs · 22/11/2025 15:13

Oh she's beautiful!
Also i feel the same ❤️

Peridot1 · 22/11/2025 15:15

@SpiritOfEdna - Spiritdoggo sounds quite sensible!

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I am ok on walks etc but do take a daily antihistamine through the year. Not willing to risk a whole tree indoors again though after a miserable Christmas a few years ago. Your pics look lovely. Very festive.

@WinterFrogs - lovely to be able to stay in bed. I just can’t anymore for some reason. I can stay on the sofa for hours at a time though!

@FourSeasonsLobelia - hope you manage to get the pigeon out! Poor thing. And poor you! I remember your skip thread too. We have one at the moment. I’m wondering how to get DH into it……..😜.

I have cleaned the lights over the island unit in the kitchen! Drum roll please. Hate doing them. Never manage to get them completely clean. I’ll have another go tomorrow now that the first layer of grease is gone.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 15:16

Thanks. :) We have had her now 15 years. She was a feral barn kitten that was scooped up by the RSPCA along with many siblings. She has never ever lost her wariness of people.... even us although we love bomb her daily. Although she likes to cuddle under the duvet at night when she thinks we are asleep and have not noticed her.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 15:22

We have a teeny Christmas tree that DH bought from B&Q years ago. It was designed for tabletops, I think. He plopped it into a pot and added rooting powder and it's still alive- although could not be said to be 'going strong'. But it suits us.

We will get the pigeon out no matter what. If all else fails we have a local chimney sweep who every now and then I call and he just says 'again?'. Thing is we need a protective cover over it, but it's 3 floors up and is in the most ridiculous and treacherous location. We will need scaffolding I expect.

Stealth scaffolding alert when DH is in London too.....

Yay for the lights @Peridot1 !

Peridot1 · 22/11/2025 15:24

Aw cat is very sweet. Although yet another allergy trigger for me! Some cats but not all.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 15:29

I have a very very minor allergy to cats. If LobeliaCat 1 dribbles on me (she is 23 and a dribbler) I come up in a rash. But that's it thankfully.

oooh... random question - is anyone doing a colour theme for Christmas decorations this year? I always think I want to, then just go with the same old decs we have had for decades. But I rather fancy a cream and gold theme if I were to put attention into it.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 22/11/2025 15:52

Here's mine, here's mine!

Daily Project round 8
FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 15:55

Aawwwwwww!!!! A calico! Is she a naughty tortie? Our calicos always have been most feisty and utterly adorable.

She's gorgeous!!!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 22/11/2025 16:03

Honestly she is so sweet 🥺, slowly becoming a lap cat but absolutely on her terms

Yours is the sweetest too fourseasons! A sad beginning but a happily ever after story 🥰

Peridot1 · 22/11/2025 16:28

@FourSeasonsLobelia - I tend to do one tree with a theme. The other is random stuff we have accumulated over the years but even that is sort of themed as I always went for red, green, white and gold.

I did white, silver and gold one year and it worked ok. Other years for some reason not so well and I ended up adding in some red. Cream and gold sounds lovely.

Very cute pusscat @mumofoneAloneandwell.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 16:33

I like the idea of doing one with a theme. We could do that. A small tree on our landing table would work. Hmm.

DH is mostly away so when he gets back for Christmas I could surprise him with a Christmas extravaganza!! And possibly, inspired by another thread some home baked goodies..... Lord, I'll have my own youtube channel at this rate! Grin

ETA- 'table on our landing' not 'landing table'. The latter sounds like we have a helicopter landing pad in our garden. We don't. Just for clarity.

Peridot1 · 22/11/2025 16:39

You can be an influencer!

A small tree with a theme sounds good. To start you off anyway. I have enough decorations at this stage I can do various themes!

The good thing is you can buy a couple of cheap sets of baubles in your chosen colours and add in a few more expensive special decorations that you can add to over the years.

I haven’t decided on a theme yet for our second tree. I might just go red and gold. Thinking of getting the boxes down from the loft tomorrow and I can have a think. I think I packed everything away by colour last year.

FourSeasonsLobelia · 22/11/2025 16:40

Red and gold is probably my favourite colour combo. It seems so luxurious and brings to mind roaring fires.

Cream and gold makes me think of a snowy icy Scandi-type winter.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 22/11/2025 16:41

I'm obsessed with white and gold for the theme this year

The small tree is colourful for dd but for the real one, fingers crossed, I've got these golden lights that will go on it.

Definitely do a theme, have fun with it Molly Mae! 😄🥰
