Maybe i'm being harsh...

But she did all of what you say because of newspaper reports....

She ignored the advice to get advice.

Zahawi etc etc is besides the point.

Like i said, i expected better.

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2025 13:34

I am disappointed as well because she should have followed the advice.

I am saying that since it all came out, she behaved with integrity in complete contrast with the previous government

Ah yes i see, i agree.

I'm just fucking angry.... such an own fucking goal to Reform etc.

Sorry for the language!

Every politician should be held now to the same impossible standards that was expected of Angela Rayner.

Trying to think who will stand for deputy leader. If a woman is elected to stand at the dispatch box, they will know the unimaginable pressure they'll come under from the sludge tabloid press.

Pretty depressing 😞

Spandauer · 05/09/2025 13:41

Disappointed and frustrated that more cautious tax advice wasn't sought and it's ended (rightly) in a resignation.

But she's not feckin died!
Her achievements shine brighter than any of those currently hugging themselves with glee.
She'll be back. (Eventually)

Just seen this, so for clarity it’s OK for Daily Telegraph readers?

This needs sharing far and wide!

Ah this is a shame. If a solicitor tells me it’s ok, but get further advice I actually assume they’re just covering their own backsides excessively usually and leave it. But having said that when it’s HMRC I am very reluctant to not fully understand my position and advise everyone the same - they have so many powers. Saying this again though they themselves often give conflicting advice and can request CGT incorrectly- as a case I knew.
Still for AR she really should have crossed all t’s as far as practicable.
I’m disgusted at some of the comments I have seen though - she’s not done anything worse than many other MPs nor has she murdered small babies. I think it’s when it’s women - I have been equally shocked at the language used against Thatcher though understand the sentiment against her better.
Kemi ought to leave it now - what did Keir know is ridiculous really - very little time for him to know anything and hardly likely he has time to check the tax affairs of all his MPs — does Kemi do this for her party?!
And frogface talking of integrity leaves me cold and speechless.

Distraction news. Fellow I'm a celebrity get me outta here contestant welcomes another I'm a celebrity person onto the stage at a Parliamentary Party conference.

These people are 15 points ahead in the polls.

Lalgarh · 05/09/2025 14:23

Ah Mad Nad and the Farages.

I give it 12 weeks before she has an almighty bust up with him. And threatens to Spill The Beans

placemats · 05/09/2025 14:33

Will she be as adoringly in awe of Nigel as she obviously was with Boris?

Can't see it. It's sadly not gonna happen.

BIossomtoes · 05/09/2025 14:40

I’ve just caught up with this and I’m immeasurably sad. What a loss. So surprised to see Starmer’s letter was handwritten, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Hopefully she’ll have a spell in the wilderness and return later. I caught Farage’s gloating as I drove home and I can’t wait for the delve into his tax affairs. Sanctimonious little shit.

SerendipityJane · 05/09/2025 14:43

Probably better I pay my tax now ...

The level of hatred being shown towards AR is sickening. Both by the media and on MN.

I totally agree that she should have taken further advice and I think her resignation is the right outcome.

Those who are rejoicing in her downfall and yet didn't apply the same level of judgement to others (e.g. Zahawi, Farage), are showing their true levels of ignorance and shallowness.

No doubt others will still see us as defending her somehow, no matter what we think.

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2025 15:01

The reshuffle has begun, I have seen rumours that Lammy might be the next deputy PM

Just watched The Rest is Politics live stream about Rayner. Just as it was ending Campbell got a notification that Yvette Cooper is going in the reshuffle, to be replaced by Shaban Mahmood

cardibach · 05/09/2025 15:02

Can’t see that in print but I’d be surprised if he’s wrong…

PandoraSocks · 05/09/2025 15:02

It is all pretty depressing. Hopefully she has lots of support around her and isn't reading the deluge of bile on social and other media.

Well said.

The whatabout Zahawi, Hunt, Farage is pointing out the difference in media approach rather than the outcome.

That would be madness. He is absolutely hated. The media will do their utmost to bring him down, too.

DuncinToffee · 05/09/2025 15:06

Other sources have mentioned it as well Cardi
