Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond BrewCakeBiscuit

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

The court order for setting up a trust fund for her son is conveniently overlooked

Yes, it is honestly so disheartening.

I'll see Ozymandias and raise Don Juan ...

“Tis strange,-but true; for truth is always strange;
Stranger than fiction: if it could be told,
How much would novels gain by the exchange!
How differently the world would men behold!”

Sorry, Don Dew-anne 😀

Exactly, if everyone knows this is how it's going to pan out and it will, what is the point in listening or watching the 'news' anymore. There is no journalism involved just a relaying of biased information!

Real journalists would have blown a large raspberry when the Met Police chief gaslit us into believing that the police have no discretion at all when it comes to enforcing the law.

For example.

Yes, who would have predicted that in 2025 investigative journalism would be obsolete!

Keir Starmer has received the report and is studying it

PA news

Cheguevarahamster · 05/09/2025 12:02

Apparently she is leaving. I am so disappointed. Hopefully she will be back.

PandoraSocks · 05/09/2025 12:05

What a fiasco and what a sad end to her career, at least for now.

There will be much joy elsewhere.

BIWI · 05/09/2025 12:05

I think it’s very sad, but also inevitable.

Goldenbear · 05/09/2025 12:06

Yes, very disappointed that Reform have won yet again!

ilovesooty · 05/09/2025 12:06

Already a gleeful thread on AIBU. They just can't help themselves.

There have been some really disgusting posts about her on the other thread.

I am pissed off with her, though, for not having the wit to realise that everything she does is scrutinised to the nth degree and so she should have been bloody certain she was acting within the rules.

PandoraSocks · 05/09/2025 12:11

She is no longer deputy leader either.

BIWI · 05/09/2025 12:12

Yes, that surprised me - the ethics report must be really damning Sad

Since that's an elected position I assume there will have to be an election?

Or perhaps she has just had enough of it all?

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. ☹️

Streeting will be on manoeuvres.

This is just not what Labour needs right now.

BIWI · 05/09/2025 12:17

… although I suppose it draws attention away from Fartage?

Efacsen · 05/09/2025 12:17

Or perhaps she has just had enough of it all?

That was my first thought, too Sad

Notonthestairs · 05/09/2025 12:22

The first tweet I saw announcing this was followed by a tweet suggesting Rayner should be deported as a traitorous Muslim lover.

It's the Telegraph and Mail picture editors I feel sorry for. She's provided as many photos for them as Kate Middleton has over the years.

There are some horrible threads on MN today, I hoped once the schools started back up we’d get a break. The worst I’ve seen this morning was someone aghast about a Manchester hotel that has homeless people at the same time as regular paying guests.
Gives the lie to the hotel shouter narrative that we should house our own homeless ahead of asylum seekers. It’s almost as if they only use veterans/UK homeless/women and children as a tool to excuse hatred of their current chosen scapegoat.

There was also a thread a while back about a poster horrified that they were thinking of putting looked after children in a house nearby (I don't know the word when it's not a children's home as smaller than that). General agreement that such children are trouble and likely to behave badly or attract dodgy men in cars. So basically completely right to oppose it. But at other times (when complaining about Asians) those same children would be English roses cruelly abandoned by uncaring liberals etc etc.
