Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

I see Nadine Dorries has defected to Reform.

There’s a surprise.

itsgettingweird · 04/09/2025 20:21

I’m dyslexic and struggle with reading comprehension so have to admit I don’t read the classics.

Probably even more awful that I’ve never read Dickens as we were born in the same city!

I live pacholigical thrillers. Currently enjoying Freda McFadden

PandoraSocks · 04/09/2025 18:06

Have you read Jude the Obscure? I read it once, never again.

The weather is bananas here, sun, followed by torrential rain on a loop. But good weather for curling up and re-reading a classic or two.

Speaking of 'Nanas, I love Zola too.

Same here. I went for an hours walk this evening (about 1 mile from Dickens birthplace!) in shorts, jumper, sunglasses and an umbrella 😂

This is vile. Local guy speaks to Sky News about the impact of asylum seekers protests. Watch what happens and share widely

That’s literally sickening. Just awful.

At the risk of being controversial I beg to differ.
The worst book ever written is 'How to kill your family' by Bella Mackie.

I've read that. I rather enjoyed it.

Isn't she a nurse? or used to be.

I always saw her as a centralist Tory, in love with Bojo or perhaps a rat leaving a sinking ship?

Cons predicted to be 4th party at next GE.

Long way to go of course.

cardibach · 04/09/2025 20:27

Piggywaspushed · 04/09/2025 18:31

Obviously, I feel it necessary to say that I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

Nobody does…

Centrist? Dorries? Or Johnson cone to that. He sacked all the one nation Tories.

Awful behaviour.

Young man who sticks up for Asylum seekers and the effects of the protestors is then mobbed by protestors... v scary.

LlttledrummergirI · 04/09/2025 20:32

I was a voracious reader as a child, I loved Oliver Twist from Dickens, but remember trying to read a ladybird version of pickwick papers in primary school and struggling with it. I've not gone back to Dickens since, maybe I should change that.

My favourite Brinte was Jane Eyre, I was in year 7 though and for some reason it always put me in mind of little house on the prairie, what Katy did and others of the era.

I've never read Hardy or Elliott and I hated Austen with a passion. I was always more into dystopia and horror, King, Koontz, Herbert were and are my go to for an easy read.

I also read Gaskell and I actually like Sh Shakespeare. Grin

Managed to get it to load now. That’s is just abhorrent.

These are just things doing what thugs gonna do.

It’s like they’ve been given permission to behave this way and so think it’s ok.

itsgettingweird · 04/09/2025 20:38

One of the parents came into training this evening and said Johnson has gone to reform too?

The way they stand around, wait for him to finish and then chase after him calling him a 'paedo'. Is that literally the only insult they can ever muster?

Nice to see the year 8 kids, presumably out with their dads too.

Piggywaspushed · 04/09/2025 20:48

Love this from the LDs

A Liberal Democrat source said: "We don't know who to feel more sorry for, Kemi Badenoch or Nigel Farage."

Yes - but she's yesterday's nobody Tory.
Reporting this just looks like trying to revive her profile.
What's next? Nadine Norries takes out National Trust membership?

Nadine Dorries who thought Boris Johnson was wonderful for engaging and talking to her when first elected to parliament, unlike most of the other male MPs educated at fee paying schools.

What was probably an interview if there was a vacancy at the time for his next mistress.

You probably saw snow more often than your MP when she was your elected representative.

DH's nan used to pass on Mills and Boone books to me. I read a couple and then politely kept the rest for a couple of weeks before giving them back. There were only a couple of plots so it was easy to pretend I'd read them. In return I lent her my copy of Lady Chatterley. It went round the entire sheltered housing and I never did get it back.

They don't all have the same plot. When I did A-level chemistry, my text books were by Mills and Boon. Formulaic in a very different way!

Thugs. Useless, aggressive thugs.

ilovesooty · 04/09/2025 21:09

I've never got over her being interviewed and saying "the Prime Minister tells the truth" 🙄
